This is my own unique theory, Luffy is the Joyboy of old, he will get sent back in time to the Ancient Kingdom and that's where we will learn about it. The One Piece is The Strawhat's logbook full of their adventures, they leave it in the ancient kingdom. The Ancient kingdom will know Luffy as Joyboy because he already has his fruit awakened when he travels back in time.Luffy will try to save the ancient Kingdom but it won't be possible, the past was already written, Luffy will promise things will be made right in the future. Luffy will meet Toki of the past and that will be how he gets back to the future. Roger read the Strawhat's logbook on "Laugh tale", that's how he knows about future events from his time, the One piece is One Piece, this story being narrated is from the logbook. The logbook leaves off when Luffy gets sent back to the future so it is incomplete, the rest of the story is yet to be written in our present story. Joyboy wasn't even born yet in Roger's time, Roger knew Luffy wouldn't be born and travel to the past until after he passed away so would never get to meet him. I bet Roger read about himself finding the treasure that he was currently reading and how he starts the great pirate era on his execution, he laughed!

I think that the story as big figures find out about Gear 5 being "Joyboy" a lot will be made of Luffy's destiny to this that or the other, I think the story might even make it look like Luffy is going to fulfil a destiny but that when the big moment comes he'll say no or act in a way that is not the destined way or the opposite way but the way that Luffy carves out for himself, the person with the most freedom is not the pirate king it is one not tamed even by destiny.

I love this, and I think that's why he's "fated" to fulfill the Will of D / bring the dawn of the world. Luffy is the only person who can find a way to pick both options when given a choice of 'either or'. He's the type to mow down a new path at a fork in the road. I think it's like Naruto being the child of prophecy. He didn't necessarily do anything special. He was just genuine and loving, which is how he broke the cycle of hatred. Luffy will liberate the world by being genuine and free, setting the example that not even fate and the whole world against you can decide your destiny, only you can your own willpower.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Luffy's not getting strung along by another's plan unless it suits him perfectly to begin with. To add to this, Rayleigh advised them to research and see the world for themselves even though most of the info should be at laugh tale already, hinting at the possibility that Robin could learn more and "reach a different conclusion than we did." I interpreted that as saying Joyboy's plan for the future may not be ideal in some way and Rayleigh holds hope for something better. Wouldn't it be a strange twist of fate though? Imagine they make it all the way to Laugh Tale, and learn "everything" only to discover that Luffy actually concurs with the world government, that he also opposes whatever it was that Joyboy's kingdom was planning. Where would things even go from there? Either way, the WG has done some terrible stuff and there's sure to be some kind of reckoning for that; but Luffy does things his way no matter what.

Ya I too feel a bit funny on the idea of Sabo rekindling with his family/former peers, but the entire series has been littered with many alliances of enemies. Garp and Roger teamed up against the Celestial Dragons at God Valley, Luffy and Crocodile teamed up to get out of Impel Down. Big Mom and Kaidou teamed up in Wano, Luffy and Smoker teamed up TWICE etc. So it definitely is a possibility and one that might feel more natural once the time actually comes.

Last year we had a weekly "Road to Laughtale" release for each of the four void weeks between 1053 and 1054. This year we're getting basically just void weeks. Insightful videos like this are really helpful to fans that are running low on OP manga content and discussion. So, thanks for having some real nice ones lately JBT. I cannot wait to see your follow up vid too :) Looking back, the chapter released after the four week break last year was Flame Emperor, where a good chunk of this theory gets its legs. 1086 also plays a huge role in this theory, like the idea would probably not even exist without the information it gave us. I wonder if the timing of the long breaks somehow meant to bookend these portions of the story to help connect them together. The stuff in between was crazy in a dozen different ways so the Sabo stuff from so far apart might not connect so easily even though so little time has passed story-wise for him.

It sounded like dragon is more akin to lili with sabo as an example what dragon is missing people who hes recrutted who hate nobles not understanding the revolution or dragons intent. Sabo sounds like he would be Imu who in the end betrays the core ideal of the revolution because of their own bias. or maybe thats something in between love the direction of this theory/spoiler

I didnt go into it because of time constraints, but I think Dragon is akin to a more "mature" "accepted the D" Lili. He makes it very clear what the revolutionary army is intending to do, and I think as a leader he'd have no issue stopping the fight from escalating past the CD's. Although it is an interesting question whether Dragon would allow the hunting of CD's like what probably happened to lunarians, But right now the army is growing faster than it ever has, and it seems difficult for Dragon to react yet to what's taken place, which is different from Sabo who was there, and had the opportunity to share the truth about cobra. That's part of my justification for why Oda's seemingly giving Sabo a bigger role in the army than dragon at any rate. But absolutely it could be a more complicated mix of parallels, where Lili is a little bit of dragon, sabo and Vivi. The discussion gets somewhat difficult, but Oda absolutely does this

Late to the party, but I'm happy to hear someone else feels the same way about Alabasta and Dressrosa! Alabasta has always struck me as a mirror for what happened to the Ancient Kingdom, where a misled revolution against a good king succeeds because the king couldn't fight his people. Tangentially related this is why I find the Crocodile is Rocks D. Xebec's kid theory so compelling, because they both seem to be mirroring Imu. Doffy mirroring Imu as a tyrannical, shadowy leader makes sense because he's a (former) Celestial Dragon but Rocks and Crocodile are only linked to that role through their own ambitions. It would make sense for them to be connected too. Or I could be wildly off base and connecting the wrong dots altogether 😂 Awesome video dude! Maybe when joyboy’s revolutionary army defeated the lunarians and other’s he forgave them and refused to punish them. This probably caused resentment to grow in some people’s mind towards him. They wanted revenge on these species that have oppressed them for long time. For this reason they probably overthrew joyboy and maybe just maybe used ancient weapons to fight against the stronger species. This went against the will of joyboy who wanted a cheerful and peaceful world.

To clarify, I think the conflict before the void century was about making all races equal. But what Joy Boy hadn't considered at the time, was the revolutionaries then and the people they freed would begin to persecute the former gods and "nobles". The lunarians were defeated but the war didn't end. To end the war, Joy Boy separated the races, and made it his mission to protect both sides, which mainly became protecting the non-humans. And for 100 years he couldnt find the solution where everybody could just live together and be at peace

Ever since the “Flame Emperor” moniker got dropped, I’ve had the theory that we will see Vegapunk’s theory come to fruition - as he stated that devil fruits manifest from the hopes, dreams, and fears of people since the beginning of time, the 8 kingdoms which worshipped Sabo as a God - the Flame Emperor - will bring into existence a Mythical Zoan fruit which mimics both Sabo’s influence and his flame powers, just as the Nika fruit mimics Nika’s influence over people and the rubber ability. As always, your line of thinking is flawless. Yes, of course the story can get another totally different direction, but I'm sure at least some of your stuff will definitely be there. Hope so. But! To think Sabo will forgive someone and that this someone MUST BE his (like Luffy and Ace, another foreshadowing) stepbrother Stelly is just gruesome. Oda will have to be the one and only storyteller of all times to make me agree on saving him by making Sabo see some value on that piece of crap. Please, Oda... Do it and become the master for all eternity. Like, Stelly is more punchable than all the nobles put together in one piece. PS I planned to finish my thoughts with "one piece". Did it twice but screwed it all right now.

I think this is very possible since it seems like Coby is gonna be a part of the Revolutionary Army so revolutionary army is gonna get some love from the world since a hero like Coby is on their side. Also, I feel like revolutionary army winning and creating a better world makes sense since there's been hints that Vivi and Sabo may marry. Obviously romance in terms of love isn't a big focus in One Piece, it would work well since Vivi''s family are part of the will of D so them taking over makes sense and also Sabo wants to be a will of D.

I need Sabo‘s decision to leave the people in their belief that he killed Kobra to go somewhere, preferably to punch him in the face. He may see it as justified since it helps the cause and in fact it wasn’t him who spread that information in the first place, but its his responsibility to be honest and set things right. Everything else would just be propaganda, the same tool used by the WG to maintain their control. I really like how your theory isn’t all black and white and I LOVE how the reason so many plans have gone wrong in past and present isn’t because of some generic force of evil, but because even people with a good heart and good intentions are biased, have flaws and make mistakes. Regardless of how much of your theory is true, it‘s definitely a very interesting and satisfying take on the void century and One Piece‘s endgame.

here's my current theory about void century: Joyboy wasn't the king of Ancient kingdom he was just a popular warrior or something similar. AK were super advanced that it started being dangerous, flying too close to the sun. something something then someone or some tech(probably DF) caused a fatal injury to Imu, the prince of some kingdom, but his brother who has the OP OP no mi did the immortal surgery on him and dies. Imu is still a kid but he became the king after his father's death and started hating the AK and united the 20 kingdoms to stop the danger of AK. after years of war Joyboy steps up and does whatever he did. just the general idea of what i think happened. and for now i think its very possible to be true or very similar

Wanna hear something silly? If you google MU likely first image propositions are going to be Manchester United. And then you see their logo, a herald with giant devil in middle. Top of the herald is a ship, so a sea devil. And then you realize that Gold Roders name isn't Gol D. Roger but Goal D. Roger and that Oda got the idea for One Piece when he was playing football with his friends and he wanted to transfer that feeling of comradely to the readers. Fantastic video as always with great ideas and thought process, the only thing I still want to no is what makes all of this funny. I would love a theory as to what is the key to making it a LAUGH tale. I doubt it’s just irony, as irony can be funny, but it’s often also depressing. I really want to know how you make this story of treachery and misunderstanding a comedy. It’s by far what I am most excited to find out.

So you’re saying that every MAJOR arc regarding a kingdom being overthrown is a parallel to the past, but every arc one after the other shows what happens deeper and deeper into the overthrowing, where Alabasta is what happens in the past but only up to the overthrowing, Skypiea is what happens a couple years after the overthrow, Dressrosa is what happens 10+ years after the overthrow, Wano is what happens 20+ years after the overthrow, and so on and so forth until we get to the final battle where Luffy has to defeat the big bad of 800+ years after the overthrowing

I don't think Joy Boy was actually defeated. I think the 20 kingdoms just kept attacking until he used his life force up and finally dies of exhaustion. We see how drained Luffy is now just imagine how he would be while fighting continuously against fighters that aren't as strong as he is but they have numbers to wear him down

Absolute banger video 👍 .. personally I believe the “everything comes full circle” theory. History is written by the winners is what got us here. An anology would be like a computer solving a math problem. It repeats steps like mistakes and the past repeating and from each point a mistake is made the clock resets and starts again to solve the problem. Over time only so many repeated occurrences can happen before the solution is solved. This is the story of the final iteration of the problem being solved in real time and we finally come full circle from when and where and how the problem started to when where and how the problem was finally solved

I personally feel like Romance Dawn, Alabasta, and Skypiea represent the past present and future of the world goverment as we know it. 1) Arlong in romancr dawn represents the celestial dragons, nami represents their slaves, and the village represents the world, all as we know it today 2) Crocodile represents the past, his plan of usurping power under the guise of an ally, so he can trick the people into turning on king cobra, this represents they way Imu won. 3) skypiea repsents the future imu wants, which is to destroy everything and start a new.
