She has very good coloratura technique (even though her “caprino” vibrato is somewhat unpleasant) but the frenetic tempo of the final part is just ridiculous. This does not indicate joy but hysteria and Joyce is clearly struggling to keep up. There is a speed limit up to which it is impressive to be able to execute the killer agilità of Rossini and after that it’s just silly, gargling, show-off craziness…

Can’t stand those fluttery high notes. If you’re a mezzo, and your high notes sound like that then please take the lower option.
