Hi, Elevated Vehicles, terrific video. I recently bought this same 2021 unit and love it so far (it was quite a bit cheaper than the 2023 unit). I know you have moved on since then to a 2023, but based on the way I believe you connected your cameras to this 2021 unit, am I correct in guessing that your backup camera did not come on when you shifted into Reverse? Or did you instead see it both upon shifting into Reverse *and* On-Demand in any gear? Thank you as always.

Terrific, thank you Elevate Vehicles, that install video is so helpful. Last question on this- At the other end, behind the dash, does the rear camera’s RCA output plug into (a) the head unit’s Rear Camera RCA input, (b) the head unit’s auxillary RCA input, or (c ) both (a) and (b) via an RCA Y-cord?

​@@fnbtwosolid question! I think I used a Y cable if I remember correctly to both the rear camera input & the RCA in. I'd test it first before you put your dash back together ☺️

Is the harness required to do this with the app? I have the backup camera wired correctly; it works in reverse just fine. But I have mounted a camera on the rear bumper of my car and I'd like to monitor it as I'm driving with the backup camera on.

Yea I have the Jeep harness Joying sells & I Believe that's what allows me to see reverse while in drive

What push start setup do you have and how do you like it

It's our in house one, prototype. We'll be announcing it soon as a direct competition for smart Wrangler. Ours is PKE, Bluetooth start from phone, remote start, & push start as one package. Smart Wrangler has all the things our system has except they also include GPS tracking. Ours will be sold at $500 And Google can tell ya the astronomical price smart Wrangler sells for 😅

How is the backup camera quality? I have a camera that claims 1080p but blown up on the big screen it doesn't look very clear. My screen looks to be the same as yours about 13 inches diagonal 1920 x 1200.

On this unit in the video it looked about 720p (it's the 2021 Joying Android 10.0 11.6"screen) On my new 2023 Joying headunit (I haven't made a video on this unit yet) it looks like an HDR version of 720p. It's really really crisp with the newer Joying headunit & newer Joying cameras. Want a link to the new one I got from Amazon?

@@scook9216 here is a link to my new one. amzn.to/3OyLSfp They made some great changes but in typical Joying fashion it's one foot forward and one foot back as usual with them. However the camera quality and resolution legitimately feels like it is 720p HDR. They did a damn good job on it. I'll have a video out this week reviewing the joint head unit and I'm going to touch on the camera situation that they've changed.

@@ElevatedVehicles Do you notice any sort of ghosting in the image almost like a double image? When using my OEM reverse camera with the android unit everything was fine. The newer camera for the 360 system is clearer picture but there is a double image effect and I am unsure how to correct it. I'm thinking it's a grounding issue with the cameras possibly, as 4 wires per camera (signal shield power and ground) are wired into a 12 pin plug to the back of the unit.

@@scook9216 I have no ghosting but I only have 2 cameras (front & rear) I recently updated a settings video about 42 minutes long, & in there I talk about having the cameras set to 1080p25 which is what Joying recommended I do since I have their newest camera system. Do you have the 360 system from them or is yours factory 360 camera that came with your vehicle?

Thank goodness, no. Not on this one, in this video above nor in the new 2023 unit that I also reviewed. Love it. HOWEVER, you can set a setting that turns the volume down to a certain level if you want it to. You can set that level in the settings.

Hey, just curious how you are able to turn on and off your rear camera at random. I have mine hooked up to rear DC outlet but now my camera is always on. Like I'm in reverse. I have the. Same set as you, jeep jk with joying head unit. Thanks!

On my Jeep Wrangler I have it hooked up to the rear outlet as well so it will constantly receive power ONLY when the Jeep is on. I then took my yellow video RCA output cable & plugged it into the Joying input RCA cable labeled reverse camera. I think I also disconnected the grounding cable from the rear camera so the only thing it's getting is power from the red wire but not grounded. I should look when I'm back at my Jeep next week.

Weird, I have mine wired the same. Maybe a system setting. Does you backup camera still turn on automatically when reverse is engaged?

I wonder if you wired yours to the AV input on the back of the headunit & not into the harness yellow video input? I'm of course spitballing here, you probably know what you're doing better than I do. This was my first radio install ever 😆

Ha, this was my first as well. I have it hooked up to the yellow rca on head unit labeled reverse camera. It seems like my head unit is set to display that input whenever power to camera is on. When I hooked it up to reverse brake light it turned on when I put it in reverse and power to camera is turned on, with DC outlet, power is constant and so camera is on always. I'll have to look deeper into settings. Your setup is sweet. Looking to mimic that 👌

@@upnorthboys5569 very interesting! Is your headunit the 11.6" version? Also, have you seen my other video on this channel showcasing the in depth setup of my headunit? I also wonder if yours came with a plug n play harness to talk to your Jeep canbus? Mine did cause I requested it which made install a snap. And it's that harness that has wires coming out of it that has one labeled reverse camera. So my reverse camera yellow plug is not plugged into the headunit but rather that harness

You have to give the rearview camera constant power when the vehicle is on. You cannot wire it to the reverse light wire. I wired mine to an ACC wire

Joying doesn't have a number to call. They're in China I believe
