I got the American. I ran it at clean crunch breakup. And my Strymon Riverside with EV5 BOSS expression pedal. I have near limitless gain options from clean stones to death metal if I want. But I hate death metal so I go from cleaner crunch to EVH RR etc. It's amazing record ready just DI!

Found the answer to being able to play through a 40watt valve combo at low level and getting a usable tone, it is one of the few pedals that has a 3 band EQ for amps that need taming. Thanks.

I am using this into a Hot Rod Deluxe 3 with a Strat on humbucker setting and using your pedal settings and getting the same results, this is just a great pedal and the gain structure is very different to the usual plexi stuff, I just love the sounds and the versatility. Hi, I was wondering about using this pedal as a boost pedal. So, what I know about this pedal that this is an amp sim pedal, mostly used to get a direct output from it. But then I saw on comment section that people use this pedal front of amp, as a boost pedal, and they said this pedal works great as a boost. So my question is can I really use this pedal as a boost? Or is it better as an amp sim?? Thank you!

I've been using mine on stage for probably 3-4 years.I run all effects in front of it and a Boss chorus after. The split signal .(left right) then goes to either 2 channels of the p.a. or a GTDAudio stereo power amp into 2 cabs with 12"s. Bullet proof .Kicks major posterior!

You can use this series (British, Ac-Tone, American Sound and California) direct into the return of the effects loop of an amp, even a solid state, to have a really good sound. I use the American Sound when I can't carry the Fender Mustang III with me.

Dimefan91 I just use it as preamp, so its sound is affected only by the speaker (needs just few tweaks). Otherwise you can plug it in the PA. In front of an amp is good and versatile, it colors the sound of the amp like any overdrive/distortion pedal.

Of course it will. I use the Joyo American sound as my amp. My chain goes like this: wah->fuzz->OD->Amp sim->reverb So, it's set up just like you'd set up a rig using the fx loop of an amp.

idk bro, i usually play a mesa dual rect or the throttle box, i also use joyo pedals the only way close i got to the mesa tone is using the high gain in front of the ultimate drive pedal very light on drive on both low lowish mids around in between 2 and 3 oclock high somewhere around 130 on the high gaine, the ultimate drive i usually go with the tone lower around 1130ish almost noon drive almost off so it boosts the other pedal and i keep the amp at noon adjust bass to where it doesnt get caddywanky and the amps drive is the key for me i have mine set to 11 on my little mustang 1 v.2 1x8 now when my bugera comes back from the tech we will know for sure ive been playing for 20 years started with kill switch engage moved to trivium shadows fall the order of elijah my own stuff fall of the martyrs and now with the. 2 pedals ive mentioned im was blown away the ultimate drive is closer to my throttle box then this cali pedals now im only driving through the amp the rest of the month im gettting all of my effects through joyo the pedals will compete very soon cause im going to start using them live and in recording and demos. everyones amps are different come on tone and bass sometimes can make amps chugg that usually dont hints the mustang 1 v.2

I bought this pedal and, for me, it is usable with the voice set under 12:00. Anything past that and it gets muddy. I played through different amps, ran it as a pre, and used it with singles and humbuckers. I will probably wind up selling it.

Sure it can. Just roll back both voice and drive knobs and dial up the level, that's how you get clean tones from it.

I use the American set for a cleaner crunch on humbuckers and total clean single coil with my pots on 7.5 I run my Strymon Riverside in with MXR P90 and RE20 space echo. It's mental. Insane. Plus JD Fuzz Wah. I have a Boss EV5 controlling the Strymon. I can dial in any gain from clean like "Lenny" to hard metal.

I got the orange burst was not happy with it kind of dark and fuzzy and not articulate enough possibly they screwed up when they built it cuz I bought a rat pedal that they screwed up on Big Time and use the wrong Parts in the wrong spots and made it way way sick and muddy and Overdrive but honestly the Mesa Boogie 1 I don't know you got to let your ears judge on it I really like my American sound pedal it sounds exactly like vintage Fender amps all through and through so if they're using the same technology on the California I don't see why it wouldn't be good

I use a Boss ME-80 into a Hot Rod version 4, but as you know the gain in the hot rod does nothing for most players ..and the gains in the ME80 sound fake to me. So ive been looking for an affordable gain option to get nice Santana or floyd leads and also get rich mayer thick blues sounds as well. I may be looking for something that doesn't exist. I cant spend $200 like i want to. Has to be under $100 ... funny you mentioned the Caline Orange burst cause I was going to try that one or the Blue Sky one.

The dude ranch tone is cool, but a lot of that has to do with the room it was recorded in, the cab and the microphones used. You're going to have to accept that you can't copy a guitar tone 100%, but rather find your own comfortable approximation.

+Neil Bantugan Power amp, like for a PA system? If so, yes... Pedals normally use high impedance input and output. If you connect it directly you'll get a poor quality signal. Besides, a DI Box will give you a balanced output, which is great to avoid interferance when using longer cables...

so Im curious, I tried running my mxr badass custom overdrive straight di into my interface and it just sounds like ass, so how do you get such a nice clean tone running this straight in? am I doing something wrong, or do just some od/dist pedals sound fuckd going in DI?

I have the MXR, and it's not meant to be used DI. But these Joyo pedals imitate amps, so they sound good DI. If you place that MXR in front of the Joyo, some cool tones can be achieved.

Because the Joyo has a Cab Simulator, The MXR Doesn’t, so you would need a cab sim or Impulse Response loader
