I'm not generally a huge EDM guy, but I was turned on to JOYRYDE by IM GONE showing up in a Spotify Radio. Nothing EDM since listening to Skrillex for the first time put such a big smile on my face, audibly saying "what is actually happening right now this is amazing". This album is my favorite thing I've listened to in years.
@ThePlatinumMeta4 жыл бұрын
I enjoy it heavily as an album, and as a listening experience. The story telling he does with the bridges of many of the songs, like IM GONE, FAIL ME, FOCUS, and many more are super vivid to me, and I feel like I can appreciate it as something that came from his heart, and is truly Joyryde.
@flamincheeto4 жыл бұрын
Wow, what an album. The house is masterful as expected, but the most interesting experiment for me was certainly ARTERIES, JOYRYDE making a track with so much grime in it is something i never expected, especially as a fan of grime. On another note, will this help create a resurgence of LPs in bass music, who knows?, but I would hope to think so

ITS FINALLY HERE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA It honestly slaps so hard, I wouldn’t say it’s a 10/10 as some of the songs feel a little self indulgent or redundant sounding, but it’s everything Joyryde should be, and it’s honestly worth the wait. It’s a very pure project and I’m happy to finally have it.

Didn't make it through the whole album but I find myself RESPECTING it more than almost anything I've heard recently. As someone who loved 2010s electro it's very nice to see someone keeping the bass house vibe alive and really, really exploring it to it's furthest extent. Similarly, it's really nice to see someone envisioning an approach to bass music that doesn't rely much on riddim or tearout and still manages to fit very well within the bass music ideom and in that sense it's an incredible artistic vision to see realized. For me personally, it's a little heavy on the rap cameos and those tend to take on a kind of repetitive formula of Verse - Interlude - Rerpise they're still very unique to him as an artist. Ultimately I think I am most blown away but how well he expresses himself and his own vision here.

This album isn’t perfect but I think the only reason I was slightly disappointed was because of the 18 month gap between the original release date and now. That and I thought all of the singles were some of the best parts of the album. But yeah, I enjoy joyryde’s take on trap much more than you I think (yuck and damn are both huge standouts to me) and I got pretty much everything I could want out of a joyryde album here. Maybe it could’ve been more, but I think as time goes on I’ll appreciate this album more and more

It's interesting, as a big fan of house music, Brooklyn and 4am were the standouts for me. Joyryde and my nu leng influenced my transition from being more into EDM, to being more into underground house n garage, so thought I'd come back a few years later to see how things were. Album did not disappoint.

@5:21 bruh .... first of all you just heard those trancy synths and you just ask for a festival drop not "flavour" just say "festival drop" cose you tend to sound like you know what you want to say but just like others who boxed joyryde into that "omg he's gonna make so many bangers" box which he's not that Brooklyn drop makes my heart pump fast and that comes from a The Prodigy fan. Joyryde just pissed on the EDM scene in a bigway
@Nawtystep4 жыл бұрын

Attempt to write something with this intensity, with the craft over sequencing and then come back... this is fucking hard to do. It's a kaleidoscope of immense colour and musical diversity, so much so it's strength becomes the fact that it's DOESN'T please everyone. He's taking risks. The level of programming complexity, but above all the purpose behind the heavyweight tracks must also be examined alongside the home / earbud listen - Ford is interested in how they respond on an arena level, the breakdowns, the drops, for him they're calculated battle weapons on the big stage and he knows this and thats why the carnival twists and turns. As for the the vocals, the use of UK rap (rather than US) is a masterful nod to his roots in the UK house scene and that too should be acknowledged. The sound design and above all the masterful elastic compression and precision EQ sets Ford right up there at the very top of bass music. Right now, he's smashing it on every level.

JOYRYDE hits (as in I like the song) on about 52% of his music. This album, about 6 (35%) of them I liked and saved. I enjoyed most of them but only those select 6 were saved. Those 6 were: IM GONE, THRILL, ON FIRE, I SLAY, GOT REAL, and FAIL ME.

Ok... these are my personal thoughts... This is the most overrated album I've heard in a while. Generally JOYRYDE is an overrated artist. This album is mediocre. Really medicore. Nothing really special. Best tracks would be MADDEN and Focus. Would give them a 7,5/10. The other ones a at least a 6/10. Really dissapointed album tbh. So overall I would give this album a 5,5/10.
