I always LOL at the customers that think any information they give to a store is a conspiracy.

I was a night shift manager in a convience store and I dealt with this situation every night.I just loved when they asked to speak to the manager and I got to answer that that was me and the answer was still no.

The city I work in (Pasadena, CA) passed an ordinance banning plastic bags, and forcing us to charge 10cents for paper bags. It a pain in the ass because I have customers that say THE EXACT SAME THINGS as the guy in the video. I also had a customer that refused to use a loyalty discount card because he didn't want his purchases to be tracked, seriously some people have way too much time in their hands to be worrying about stupid stuff like this.

If you don't get screamed at by customers in the bakery for not having pepsi zero because of the stockers, don't tell me it's a cake walk. I have people verbally abuse me all day, every day of my life. People quit so often at my store that I have to not only work full time at a part time job, I have to work overtime just to get the bare necessities done. Don't say a job is easy if you haven't done it before, and don't judge other's experiences before you've seen them.

I’m from a state where bags are free and had no idea until recently there were states that charged for bags (I’m 30) had I not known that, went to a different state and was asked after I had bought like 20 lbs of groceries if I wanted to buy my bags…I’d be a little irked too lol but everything else I agree with.

Retail is such an expansive category that to try and compare the working conditions is rather stupid. Mall clothing stores, fast food retail, warehouse retail (Costco, Sams Club), retail banking, etc. etc. are about as different as night and day. The video poster complaints are ridiculous, supermarket work is a cake walk, especially a checkout out cashier give me a break, it's not remotely physically or mentally taxing whatsoever, stocking shelves is worse but even that isn't a big deal.
@stholland9611 жыл бұрын
So funny, and true. For some reason people do think things are a conspiracy, especially when you have to solicit credit to them

My local store asks every time if I want a bag 'cause they cost 5p. Working in retail before I always throw fake outrage at them. "5p for a BAG ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?!?"
@Vassild11 жыл бұрын
They are actually started do switch from plastic bags to paper in a lot of places.. At least here in cali... so customers have to pay like 10cents or bring there own bag

this is my life. i had a customer who refused to give his phone number to put an item on hold. it's a prompt that our store does in order to keep track of holds and stuff. he starts shouting at me that i have no legal right to ask for this and that i'm part of the government conspiracy to get him to buy democratic books because he was an "honest and god-fearing republican." what ... the ... fuck ... he complains to my manager and they think i have a problem.

So damn true! I love how people are like this is an inconvenience to ME, I don't like that, where the hell do they get off thinking a store should cater to their individual needs.

Grocery store work is such a cake walk, it isn't remotely physical or mentally draining. There are infinitely worse jobs that teenagers and 20 somethings do every day, janitorial work, fast food, dish washer, buser, telemarketing etc. I remember it being a privilege to work the register versus stocking shelves. Not a fulfilling or lucrative job but I've had MUCH worse.

It's the law in some places, to decrease the number of plastic bags in parks and on streets. Very effective.

Working in retail blows too.I've worked a couple jobs in it,one was better then the other but my Staples Easy Tech one was my suckiest. You had quotas(when I left it was like for 3 different things each day), plenty of customer abuse(Either demand free services or screaming at you because they want their computer fixed for free and didn't buy an extended warrenty)and also a high amount of corporate pressure and stupid ideas.Service in general I think mostly blows regardless but still pretty bad.
@botchalism11 жыл бұрын
Virtually every non-technical job that don't require college are mind numbingly repetitive and tedious, especially in this job market. Be grateful you don't work in fast food or a quicky mart where you get paid less, and get violently threatened and robbed on a daily basis.
@Knightoftheright11 жыл бұрын
You see crazies on both sides.One time I worked at Staples(during the election)and a group of Obama supporters came along and actually tried disrupting the business(which I presume was because Romney was formally associated with it) and when asked to get off the property,the response was "f*** off !".Police eventually came and they fled.To this day still really don't get what the point of that was,all they did was make themselves look stupid and made a hectic day even more for the people working

It all depends where you live I guess. If you live in a big city, there's no reason why you can't get a job retail somewhere. Honestly, if I was paid $100 an hour, I wouldn't work retail again. That's why I'm getting a university degree in a well paying field so I never have to work retail again!
