I've had classmates like this. One of them I liked. He was in 3 of my classes and 2 of our professors put us in the same group. Kept emailing him my notes on the readings and my pdfs of the readings themselves. Didn't mind and made Dean's List that semester.

Yeah, where I live 90% is an A. I could see a professor offering extra credit to a student with, say, an 86-89% to get an A, but to get an 86-89 you actually have to put in some work. April 14, 2023 2:40 am

"I'm doing well in all my other classes." I love that [specious] argument. If I only had a dollar... Where does this shared rhetoric of failure come from? How is it rewarded by peers to the point that students think it'll fly with their instructors? /sigh

If I were advising that teacher, I would recommend she write that student’s name on a piece of paper and tape it to her car pedal. AFAIK, no one like that has been in any of my classes, though one professor (actually one of my favorite professors, who I had for three classes) did warn the class of the consequences of unexcused absences, implying many absences were not excused. (One classmate admitted to skipping class for a hair appointment.)

I can't believe this is happening to the world. I've had teaching as an elective back in my college, and I realized teachers go through so much headache already, NOT counting this kinds of experience. I don't know anyone like this personally but I've heard of a teacher who passed his student for the sake of not having to have him in that class again. That student was a lot like the guy above except he attended classes regularly only to goof around. I dunno what's worse.
@angel_cat3 жыл бұрын
That's an idea. Wow. I posted this comment 7 years ago and I hardly remember this. LOL. I had to rewatch this video. But I guess when your course is medically related like mine, you absolutely cannot be only present once in a whole semester. . Also, when your lectures are pre-recorded without hope of interactive question-and-answer, that's no longer a "class" but an equivalent of a reading assignment, I think.
