I joined JP in late ‘69 (367 platoon) and on to 2 Para before getting out in ‘78 and moving here to U.S. Excellent memories of those days with the best of friends. I would do it all over in a heartbeat ! 👍

Thanking all of them for what they did for then, now, and the future. Aldershot has changed so much over time, for the worst sadly.

less para's 100% better for women and children and people weaker than a platoon of drunken para's terrorising them.

@@andydudley1775 That's a fair comment Andy, and I have to agree. ABF day still makes Aldershot a no go zone...day or night.

Penhale camp, Swynnerton training area, I'm no Walt, I didn't make it,but I know exactly what those that did had to do and they deserve it. May 1977-october 77,it was my ambition to follow my Uncle Lcpl Ian Mckellar into the regiment,Who was killed in action in 2para Borneo April 1965 in the Battle of Planman Mapu he rests at the commonwealth cemetery Singapore.

2:55 Lori Bland, long shorts and hat. In training when under the influence I remember him pulling me close and saying in whatever northern accent he had, " Lonergan, Lonergan, when you get to battalion, if you find me in the gutter pissed, stand me up and pour lager down my throat, won't you" :) He wasn't everyones cup of tea, full of bravado though.

Joined 410 Platoon in 73 within 8 weeks we lost about a third of our strength and had to be bulked back up to platoon strength by junior Paras, having completed 8 weeks of our training we thought we were super hard and these Junior para kids would struggle to keep up with us, well how mistaken we were this bunch of societies miss placed children a bunch of fanatical highly trained, ridiculously fit animals I have ever seen, I learned to have a very high regard of these lads, if you pulled your wait and just gave 100% they would befriend you and help you, if you didn't you would feel their wrath and I am not talking verbally.
