One of the moments that confirmed it. Two years later I was in junior para at Pirbright, on to depot then 3 Para. This is iconic footage, not to mention the soundtrack!

I'm sure it was Chalky Reece that filmed this, I was on the deck. With a light covering of snow on ice and highish winds, the blokes couldn't stand up. In some cases we had to cut the rigging lines to collapse the chutes. I like the casualty handling,"Get yourself on that stretcher mate"! :) Doc Martin, good man.

Hi, I’ve always wondered how the static line on a px4 attached to the aircraft, as it seems to end in a D ring in all the photos I’ve seen.
@micklonergan83486 жыл бұрын
HI mate, they snapped into double gated hooks that were attached to the wire, that went along the plain. Do the new chutes have a hook ? The PJI would go along and designate you a hook, and make eye contact, before the last checks.

Hah, only just seen this reply! Thanks for answering, I’m not a parador anything, just interested. I think the new sort have hooks on the static line, like the American parachutes do.

I know a chap who was on this flight...Hard bugger,,,I think that he said it was a promotional event....
@alpitcher13 жыл бұрын
no it was a jump into an exercise that culminated in live attacks in the mountains. We don't waste our jumps in environments like that doing promotional jumps.

@@jedpugh2604 Yep I'm afraid there were but still an awesome jump to be on. We did 3 or 4 jumps over the years we were in that role.
