Dude you nail it on every one of your videos, it’s mind blowing haha. Thought this one was hysterical and genius. I find it interesting how you think Peggy is more in the middle as far as experimentalism. Also I’d imagine that with an artist that’s a Communist, you would’ve referenced his political takes on a lot of his songs and how his aggravation for racism fuels almost all of his lyrics. Just my opinion though. Great job on this one.

For this video in particular I just wanted to stick to the production side, mostly because A: i wanna steer away from politics and B: I'm terrible with lyrical breakdowns lol.

love it, the ending felt jarring and didn’t really fit well but other than that awesome video

I don't see why Jpeg is lower on the experimental scale than DG. DG have always sounded like a more modern version of Atari Teenage Riot to me. Nothing about them makes me think "What dimension did this come from?" Jpeg throws things into his music that shouldn't sound right at all, yet the final result somehow still "works" (like the pen clicking in Thug Tears, the weird ASMR-y sounds in Rock N Roll is Dead that make you think someone is licking a lollipop next to your ears, etc). I think Jpeg said something about how he's the type that would rap over the Batman soundtrack just to see if he could turn it into something cool. I think that's what it really means to experiment. To me it's about taking risks rather than how awkward you would feel playing it in front of a grandma who just left church.

good video but to say drake and future haven’t pushed the boundaries of rap is a horrible take. Also Peggy is definitely experimental. I don’t think something being more noisy makes it more experimental. Someone like playboi carti would literally be the middle of the spectrum

Came back here after JPEGMafia’s new album, and…yeah, still experimental af Also, if you’d think Drake pushes the boundaries of hip hop, more power to you. I personally think he’s comfortable in the pop space to where “pushing boundaries” for him is putting out a techno album

imagine saying that drake doesnt push the medium of rap when whatever he makes becomes the mainstream, it's just a diferent medium, but it still pushes the medium
@JacksonBurnsYT4 жыл бұрын
Nem Eu, Nem Você he doesn’t. You can’t tell me that something like toosie slide pushed the boundaries of rap as much as anything JPEGMAFIA has done. He just rolls with what’s in. JPEG does what he wants and while he’s doing it it sounds good and original. That’s my opinion.
@Jujudocine4 жыл бұрын
@@JacksonBurnsYT i mean, it's good and original, just most people don't follow his steps, i can count in one hand those who might be trailing behind him like rei ami, audrey nuna, but even then, joji did stuff that peggy is doing today in his piink guy days. And toosie slide has a lot of copycats, shaping the medium
