At this level you shouldn't do that, focus on efficiency. When you'll be at Max Park's level, then you could do that :P
@jakob_cubing6 жыл бұрын
Mikus Lembergs yes you are right! Of course you should focus on efficiency if you are slower and less expierienced. But I think at ~30 sec you should start thinking not to much during a speedsolve. In a speedsolve you have to focus on what you can do and not on what you still have to practice! Doing just some (not timed) solves on my way to school, where i could do some experimentantion, made me fast. In order to start learning lookahead (I'd say at ~20 sec) you have to know all your f2l cases and you have to be able to execute them without thinking. So you should start at around 30 sec. My average is ~12 sec and I'm still leraning new things fir f2l and LL. I do many untimed solves to get used to the new stuff, and after a while you start using new algs etc. During a speedsolve just on your own without thinking about that. During a speedsolve I dont think. Even thou max is 2 times faster.

I was at university in the early 80s and bought a cube when they first came out. At the time, there was a printed list of algorithms available which I just learned - probably around 12 in total. After about 2 months, I could just do the first layer without any particular algorithms and then 2nd layer edges, yellow cross, position yellow edges, position corners and rotate corners one at a time. I could solve the cube like this in under 1 minute more than 50% of the time. If I got lucky, it could be 40-50s. A tricky solve would be up to 1:30. This was with a standard cube, no lube. More algorithms make it quicker, but I can't learn that many now - in fact I use fewer, just repeating them (eg. for the yellow cross). I can still mange sub 1 minute, having added some additional techniques from these videos. How speed cubers manage sub 4s is just iinsane.

I can solve the cube just with beginner method in 30 seconds. You shouldnt learn oll or pll, im sorry, but practicing is the best and only way to get sub 1 minute. Often F2L is the Part, which most people need the most time, so its good to learn f2l, and then time yourself for each step; Cross: max. 8 Seconds F2L: max. 27 Seconds Yellow Side Top: max. 12 Sec. Yellow Side Side: max.12 Sec. =59 Seconds Also Handtricks a very, very important, because you have to handel cube as fast as possible. But thats just practice Then you can start Learing 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL, because every second is hard and long work then. And then at least full OLL and full PLL, and then you can get sub 10 :D Just my opinion. Hope I could help you :D and good Luck! My English may isnt the best, because im from Germany. :D Best Regards.

I do my cross downwards and plan the whole cross during inspection, I’m colour neutral, do 2 step f2l, 2 step OLL, 2 step PLL. And I have a Gan354, just because I wanted something smaller, pretty quite and I knew I would practice and enjoy learning more if I had a cube I really enjoyed practicing with. I used to avg 45. I learned two new OLL algs and dropped to 38, with a pb of 32. I plan of adding two more OLL algs so I have 6, then add like 2-3 PLL algs. And then do what I think I really need to do which is improve on f2L, and not do layer by layer. For me personally it has worked best for me to learn 1 alg, get that movement completely in mussel memory, then learn one more alg. Then just practice normal cubing for a few days with those 2 algs, so those really stick before learning more. I tried learning quite a few algs before. But I think I tried adding to many in too short of a time and not enough practice. So after a week of not cubing I only remembered the beginner method.
@dalilahdarancou23352 жыл бұрын
Alright man. Just remember that two step-X is good to even get sub twenty! Practice is everything,but learning new algorithms is not out of the picture. Practice can take you to better times than learning full F2L OLL or PLL.
@kampkrieger5 ай бұрын
solving in under 60 seconds is impressive, and i was very happy to be able to do so with the beginner method. it takes little time to learn because there are only 5 algorithm that you really need to learn, so you only have to study a bit and can practice without reference sheets, while CFOB requires you to have a cheat sheet with you. So what you say in the beginning is only for people who really want to invest so much more time into this!

I started cubing about 2 months ago and I went from solving in 3 mins to solving in 50 secs on average. In the 2 weeks I've improved from 1:20 to 50 secs alone by basically just improving Cross and F2L only. I use the advanced method for f2l and beginners method for the LL. Going to start 2 Look OLL and PLL soon but I don't think it will make a major difference.

2 seconds for pll?!?!? Did you learn full pll before even learning how to do advanced f2l?
@nowiknow60054 жыл бұрын
@@denamous9185 yeah. I didn't even know what f2l was until I saw my friend solving the cube in under 10 seconds and he told me it was called f2l because up till then I was using the beginner's method for the second layer. For the last month, I've been doing all the pll's. I used to do only like 4 of them but I find it faster to learn all of them. The J perms and T perm are the fastest for me. I can do J perm b on average 1.9 seconds and my best is 1.3 and my T perm is around 1.9 on average and my best is 1.5. A bunch of human muscles moving at extreme speeds to move a particular layer of a puzzle object to get the last layer solved at the speed which we can comprehend as fast this is achievable through muscle memory and a well lubricated cube. Thanks for the awesome video! Quick question: the black cube you use at the end, is it just a regular cube that you removed the stickers from or is it a special practice cube of some sort? Would you believe a cube like that would be a good thing to practice with to improve the cross (as it helps visualizing the cross better), or it doesn't matter and it's just for teaching? I struggle so much in F2L part, what is the order you guys usually do the corners? Do you start by some visible edge on top or do you just pick corner and look for the colors around the cube? I spend really long time looking for matching colors. Any tips?
@Themanmanmanman2 жыл бұрын
Assuming you do the cross on the top, try to look for an edge or corner (ideally both) while you are flipping the cube, and then try to locate the other edge or corner (for me personally, I've learnt to look for both). Personally, even with this my f2l still takes 10 - 15 seconds average and my entire solve is usually around 30 seconds (sometimes 35 sometimes 25). Hope this helps!
@Giofear2 жыл бұрын
@@Themanmanmanman I actually do the cross on the bottom. So no order of the corners? That makes me keep flipping the cube in order to find the matching edge to the corner and vice versa.
