I had been holding out on buying a GMC Denali truck for a few years. When a friend of mine said you can get the AT4 with all of the Denali options added, but also the cool off-road look, 2" lift plus a few other extras, then that is what I chose. I love my AT4 plus the kicker box in the tailgate is freaking cool addon too.

Great vid. Recently traded my 2500 HD Silverado for a CPO 2021 Denali Sierra with the 3.0L duramax and very very happy. No longer needed the haul everything, but more fuel economy and better ride with distance to work each way. The at4 was nice, but I'm not blasting off road or towing major loads anymore either. Love how these trucks are built and even being a "luxury" ride, I'm happy to still do truck stuff with the Denali.

I bought a 2021 Denali 5.3 Shortbed. I*'m not off-roading enough that I need the AT4. I got the white frost with the dark walnut/dark ash interior. So far I'm happy with my choice.

Love those wheels on the denali. I have the denali with 22s and hate washing them. I ❤ the AT4 but they sold it before I could get to the dealership so I ended up with the Denali. As an owner, I HATE the GRILL. Its a giant bug catcher and difficult to clean them!!!! Flipped my 13 upside down Hydro-planed in rain so I had to buy something to replace it.

My vote goes towards the AT4, primarily because of the interior. I just feel that the Denali is too plain looking on the inside for that price point, whereas the AT4 at least has some cool contrasts with the stitching and the kalahari inserts in the seats. Another reason is because I hate chrome, unless it's very subtle and the Denali is anything but subtle about the chrome trim lol. Can't wait to see what the refreshed 2022/2023 models look like. The new interior from the spy shots definitely looks promising.

i had both in 2020....denali much nicer leather and better looking and rides light years smoother... that being said.. my at4 handles towing weight better.. seems my denali squats a lot easier.. and 4wd denali is way too low for any kind of offroad. i tow my canam sxs and I've bottomed out trailering my denali thru some very modest terrain... i had 6.2 on both

gauge cluster is another upgraded feature in the Denali as well. I would love to test out the ride in the AT4. In my opinion the AT4 has a more aggressive look which I like, but I also want the smoother ride...... decisions decisions

I would go with the AT4 and this is why. The Denali has black wheels but chrome everywhere else. The AT4 already is blacked out from the factory so I don't have to waste time disregarding chrome pieces. Next, the Denali interior doesn't look or feel any better than the AT4. So I say, save some cash and go AT4.

I’ve had 3 Denali 2500Hd’s in a row (13’,15’, and 18’). I’m waiting till 23’ to see if it’s worth trading in. I’m liking the Chevy (21’) trucks a lot. I believe it’s the High County? Both need a serious interior redesign. My 18’ Denali interior looks better and more luxurious than the new ones IMHO. But I loved my 06’ SLT Interior the best🤷🏼‍♂️, at least the layout. Excited to see what’s coming!! I wish they would add some cool stuff, like an integrated Air Bag system, integrated cooler in the rear floor, better shocks than the Ranchos. My rears were junk at 3500 miles when I replaced them with Icon 2.5’s.

I was a die hard GM fan for years! My Dad bought a 1988 Silverado Single Cab Shortbed 2wd White and Silver with a 5.7 V8 automatic when they first came out in 1987..He bought a 1999 Silverado 5.3 V8 Extended Cab Z71 in Meadow Green metallic over pewter metallic in 1998...Both of those got over 300,000 miles on em no problems...He bought a 2007 Silverado Extended Cab 4x4 in victory Red when they came out with the AFM 5.3 and that junker blew the lifters with 50k on it..fixed it and the junker did it again at 110k..he got rid of it..he thought maybe it was just a bad luck of the draw and bought a 2012 Crew Cab 4x4 in burgundy with a AFM 5.3 that junker blew the whole motor with 23k on the odometer...he tried again in 2015 with another crew cab Z71 in summit white this time and it started having the same lifter problems after 40k...He dumped it bought a Tundra and has been happy ever since...the 2019+ bodystyle are even worse..1k ob the odometer and the motors drop a lifter and bend push rods...No more GM until they get their act together and even then not a guarantee we'd ever go back to em...

I purchased the 2020 Denali 6.2L Ultimate instead. It gets the lifted suspension (2.5" on mine), upgraded shocks and the overall offroad package that the AT4 has. Would I take it offroad? Who would take a $60k+ (or $80K in Canada) to get roughed up?? But both would do great in snow/muddy situations, when equipped with proper A/T tires. In addition, I also get the retractable side steps, digital rear mirror, and extra electronic features that are not standard on Denali such as lane departure, speed-adjusting cruise control, 360 cameras, folding mirrors, heated rear seats, power rear window. The other difference between could be the exhaust noise. The Denali is quieter than my former V6 Durango. That's why I'm installing a Flowmaster Flex muffler. A little noise, without being "that guy!".

I bought the 2021 yukon at4 XL last year for my wife ..we almost went with the denali but the AT4 had more features we liked. Like the air bag suspension, raises about 4 inches with a dial, it had back seat monitors and retractable stepwise with leds at night. The only thing I would say that the denali had that the AT4 did not have was the 6.2 motor beside that the AT4 had it all and it cost 20k less with way more off road and terrain options.

Last I got stuck with shiny wheels, like the ones on that one better. Choices were not very available at the time I bought it. Big dealer had only 2 Diesels on the lot, bad both the same.

Let's be honest , not many are taking a $70,000+ truck "off roading" . Either of these trucks see a dirt road it's a bad day haha remember the good old days of vinyl floors, 4x4, v-8 and that's it work trucks. Bought a 2006 Chevy 1500 work truck edition with a 4.8l and from 7 miles to 225,000 miles I had to change brakes, wheel bearing hubs, the alternator and that's it. Simple basic work truck that got regular oil changes and just kept going everyday. No electronic ba to screw up the engine or transmission. And that truck was constantly towing, hauling or pushing and never quit. Rust finally caught up to the body living in Maine but it ran great to the day it wouldn't take a sticker.

i had a 1500 AT4 with the 6.2L ... greatttt truck. could hot rod it around a little and sounded great with the performance exhaust. just traded it in for the 2500 AT4 which is a different beast. much quieter (exhaust and tire noise.. the 1500 would just howl from 45-65ish), a little more harsh. less nimble which i miss but I got it for the improved towing competence (car hauler). the quieter ride is nice.

Reason I chose the 3500HD over the 2500HD, the 3500HD was ONLY $1500 more, so it was pretty much a no brainer... Thanks for doin' the "ultimate" GMC compare...

If that’s wrong I’m sure someone will correct me. I’ve always wondered exactly what the Denali means. When I asked that’s the answer I was given.

@@frankshanks9726 Thanks for the reply. I think you may have just proven him right. It could be argued that those are different trucks entirely. Not everyone wants the diesel. Some people/companies don’t want or can’t own a diesel. Of course they would make them both for those that don’t need or want the diesel. Maybe I should have simplified for those that take things too literal. If that model had a moon roof available then it will have it. Heated seats? Same. Now as far as the 4x4? That’s a little harder to argue one way or the other. I have yet to find a Denali for sale that doesn’t have 4x4 “if available on that year make and model”. Some are awd because that’s all that was available on said model. Could you find a Denali without awd/4x4? I’m sure you could. You can order whatever you want from the factory. A company could update their fleet and tell the factory they want the Denali package but leave out the 4x4 and I’m sure they would do it. I didn’t do much research before your reply. I was just answering the question with what the GMC salesman told me. Now that I have he appears to be right. The Denali is the top tier and most fully loaded package GMC sells. The factory does change things up to fit different price points on a regular basis so not every vehicle is identical but the salespersons statement is generally true.

Navigation doesn't come standard on anything other than the denali. Is it possible to have it put on the truck after purchase? Or is it something that has to be put on at factory? It seems to me like it would be a little bit of computer work, plugging in a small gps gadget somewhere, and little bit of downloading at most and it's done. Mine doesn't have navigation and I wish it did.

I purchased a x31 package , I haven’t been able to understand if the x31 has a factory 2” lift front and rear ? You mentioned it briefly but can you please clear this up for me ? I do appreciate it

The X31 is just like Chevrolets Z71. You don’t get a 2” lift. Only the AT4 gets that.

In a way, yes, as you are not able to get the Max tow package with the AT4

That's dumb, GM!!! Allow the max tow package, including the lower gears and you'd have something with the 3.0 diesel!
