Great truck, I owned a 2004 Silverado version of this with the 5.3L extended cab, billet grille, bedliner, flowmaster 50 series exhaust, and used it every weekend to take my quad in the bed to off-road in the Superstition Mountains of Southern California and this truck was perfect on reliability, and surprisingly well on fuel economy, I averaged 17.5 mpg over 40,000 miles of mixed driving that included city, highway and towing. My guess though based on your videos for your truck comparisons is that you will be going with a Ram.

They feel big in person. My Silverado's 18s look small despite having 35s on them, but my wife's Ram has the 22s and they look enormous. She just has basic all terrain tires and yet thru are Em massive due to how they fill the wheel well. My first truck had 13" steelies. Wheel and tire size growth have certainly outpaced truck size growth. It used to be hard to get 35s under a truck without a lift. These days, it's a factory option. 37s are even possible on some trucks.

The Ram is the truck for people who like cars. It's got the tech, the interior, and the handling. I don't feel like I'm going to flip the truck if/when I take a turn quickly. It's the most sporty handling for sure and it is able to combine that with a super smooth ride with the rear coil spring suspension. In a vehicle that I'm planning to actually drive, I would rather have a smaller screen with a well thought out system of buttons over a massive touchscreen. @dmegahan
@dmegahan 3 жыл бұрын
But you can get a large screen with all the buttons too in the other brands. Bigger screens help with farmers views. Larger fonts when trying to use the screen like for radio etc plus navigation/CarPlay/android auto. With a bigger screen a quick glance is easier.
@Briggsian
@Briggsian 3 жыл бұрын
@@dmegahan But when you're driving, things like changing the radio and navigation are distractions from what should be the main focus. A combination of intuitive steering wheel controls, contextual voice recognition, and a minimalist HUD can accomplish the same as a massive screen without drawing a driver's attention away from the road in front of them. Pair that with a digital gauge cluster capable of displaying rear-view and side-view camera feeds along with other information, and the center console display can essentially be relegated to HVAC info and the time. With the cell phone connectivity we have today, there isn't any real reason for the passenger to have their own display, save for being a larger screen to watch content with. Vehicle displays do more to date an interior than anything else, which is why I would personally prefer keeping them to a minimum.

The RAM was completely redesigned for 2019. But it was refreshed in late 2020 (strange for a truck that was released about a year earlier) , albeit a very minor refresh. And new versions of the RAM are coming for 2022. I should add, the RAM has the best interior of any truck in its class, including the brand new F-150. Toyota will just keep teasing the 2022 tundra for another month at least..

You want to get a pickup to tow a trailer but I don't actually see you towing a trailer in these pickups to see how well they drive while towing. That to me seems a bit odd. Especially when a suspension in an F-150 would probably feel better when weighed down with a trailer, for example. Unless the pickup has air suspension, a softer suspension unloaded may not tow as confidently.

We tow tested all the trucks we’ve driven. But don’t forget even though we tow, we are only towing for 10% of the use of the truck. So it has to be good at both.

Not at the weight they are going to tow.. an f150 still going to ride like a brick.. they always have and always will.. it’s just a Ford thing.. it would be different if they wanted a truck for hauling a lot of stuff daily.. then the doors would settle out and ride nicer.. and the ram and Toyota would show weakness as they are gears more for unloaded driving or towing while Ford is always about that payload number and always way over spring thier entire f series’s lineup

No they all truly ride terrible. Own one. Forums agree. It’s just the trade off Ford is willing to make to be able to claim hauling supremacy. If Thomas and James will have a trailer in tow 90% if the time it will be a non-issue. Otherwise it stinks for commuting. Will be this way until they switch to air suspension, and then maybe a change.

@@upshifter5316 Agreed. I don't think the ride is terrible, but it isn't great either. Definitely rides like a truck, bouncy and jittery when dry. But when towing or hauling, it is very confident. That's the sacrifice I made.

Plus 5.7 0-60 then you can get a performance pack and brembos 5.4 0-60.

My company truck is a 2020 Silverado LTZ Z71 with a 5.3, the President of our company drives a 2021 Silverado High Country with the 6.2, the CFO drives a 2020 Silverado 2500 diesel, and the VP drives a 2021 F150 Platinum. Hands down, no competition, the F150 is the superior vehicle to live with. All of our GM products have had various issues. Tranny, electronic, infotainment glitches, etc.. My personal vehicle has turned itself off while backing out of a parking spot, and about twice a week the infotainment freezes. Once it even played sound from XM, FM, and CarPlay… all at the same time. The only aspect better than the Ford is the ride and the dash. I’m not a fan of the digital gauges in the Ford.

I find this very i testing cause if you go back and find my comment in the original f150 video now that you’ve driven all the trucks you’ve all said more or less exactly what I told you about all the types of 1/2 trucks and how they perform overall lol.. and gmc vs Chevy the only difference is in the spring rates and shocks. Each can be externally and internally equipped similar.. gmcs ride nicer on road cause they are slightly softer suspension setups vs comparable Chevy.. but I already said this before too 🤷‍♂️ You still have the Titan but I’ll save you the trouble.. Nissan trucks are garbage.. even the new ones.. they fell cheap no Mayer what you do to them inside and over time they get all kinds of interior rattles etc that you won’t get in any other truck except maybe a 80’s Ford lol.. Been driving, towing and hauling with 1/2 ton pickups for over 20 years and driven them all in the best and worst conditions with every possible use.. if I wanted a nice car but in truck form.. it’s GMC.. if I wanted a best do everything with minor gives Ram and Toyota are top 2 and have been since mid to lat 2000’s. The tundra is riding on a design from 2007 mind you.. the simple fact you are even talking about it still says a lot..

Truth be told. I wouldn't base your purchase on how the truck rides unloaded but more of what it rides like loaded down. In my experience I found that although the Ford trucks always seemed to have a jittery ride, they more often than not gave me a lot more confidence than Ram products. GMC seems to be the happy medium with both unloaded ride quality and loaded...wasn't exactly great at either but was acceptable with both and the only real let down is how absolutely bland their interiors have been for the past 10-12 years. For myself though, I'm not entirely sure I would get the absolute top tier trims if I was only going to use it for towing and not daily driving with the possibility of towing due to price...it would pain me to have a 60-80K truck sitting in my drive for days or weeks at a time while I drove a small car or something to work. I did that once and it was just too much of a hassle.
