JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon delivers Ohio State's 2021 undergraduate commencement address.
Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan Chase chairman and CEO, shared a bit of wisdom with Ohio State University graduates during his commencement address on Sunday.
"I'm always hesitant to give advice, because it sounds like I did everything right," Dimon said, "but I assure you, I did not."
To start, Dimon told the graduates about the importance of learning from failure.
"All of you have been affected by Covid-19 in different ways. Your future is bright, but as you get older, it is inevitable that you will face tough times and failure, both personally and professionally," Dimon said. "How you deal with failure may be the most important thing in whether you succeed."
Throughout his career, Dimon has dealt with obstacles himself - in 1998, he was fired from Citigroup by his own mentor after the pair had worked together for 15 years. But, two years later, Dimon became CEO of Chicago-based Bank One, which was later bought by JPMorgan Chase.
Under his leadership, JPMorgan Chase overcame the Great Recession and became the nation's largest bank.
"Learning is a lifelong pursuit," Dimon said. "It's your job to constantly learn, and it doesn't end now that you're college graduates. Regardless of what you do in life, to be successful, you need continuous learning and endless intellectual curiosity."
Lifelong learning is important to Dimon, he said, adding that he spends "about 50% of my time reading and learning. It's even more important in today's increasingly complex and rapidly moving world."
Along with reading, Dimon urged students to learn from other people and their actions.
"You can learn more from speaking to someone in 15 minutes than spending your life doing something," Dimon said. "I learned a lot about what to do and what not to do by watching other people."
Dimon received his bachelor's degree from Tufts University in 1978 and his master's degree from Harvard Business School in 1982. He also received an honorary degree from Ohio State University on Sunday.
His current net worth is $1.9 billion, according to Forbes.

They gave him an honorary degree. Not much was said about the students. Most of it sounded like something you would hear at a political convention . Disappointing event for the graduating students and their parents.

What do you mean exactly? Are you condemning the bosses choice of word to deliver this amazing commemoration speach?? I don't get why millennials today disregard importance of opening up to various fields of learning. School isn't boring as you youngsters put it. It's just a way of making efforts to decide whether you'll scale up the ladder. I was once President of the treasury of my school finance club.

The global pandemic hit the financial market like a wrecking ball and the effect of that on Bitcoin has been no different. The prices of stocks fell all over the world due to masses looking to liquidate stocks due to the global crisis that prevailed. Bitcoin and various other cryptocurrencies followed suit of the financial market and its price halved down from what it was at the beginning of 2020. Many argue that this pointed to Bitcoin being no different than the traditional stocks. Bitcoin was introduced after market crashed in 2008 and its identical behavior to that of the traditional stock

You can see why he became the CEO of such an economically powerful company, he pretty much covered all the bases, even referencing past historical Ohio State leaders. No speech can be perfect but he left out the most important thing of all, I wish he had given attention to our Lord Jesus Christ, the only way to be filled with joy & live a truly meaningful life, is with strength & guidance from our Heavenly Father.

He also forgot to mention his company is the founding father of fake news, according to U.S. congressional archives!! Thanks to our deceptive govt peeps, congress formed a committee to narrow down the top 25 newspapers in America in 1917, which JP Morgan took control of, in order to control what got reported, in order to control what people believed to be the truth. Those were their words, not mine AND thus, the birth of fake news!! Maybe CNBC will do a segment on the birth of fake news, and bring this guy back......oh wait, maybe not, ha!! By the time tell-LIE-vision was invented, and education was taken over in the 40's, they had the fake news under wrap & all bases covered in the misinformation campaign meant to mold our minds as part of a much bigger agenda! If only folks knew how to use the internet & available resources to seek out the truth but the problem is, they don't know there is truth to be found, and many simply use it for pleasure & not a tool!! God Bless!
