Perhaps the greatest example of over hyped, fawning media failure in a pro series championship. They ordained Lindros as the face of the NHL, practically handing the flyers the cup before they played the first game. They didn't just lose, they got broomed. It was never close. The only other comparison that comes to mind is the 04' NBA finals when the no name pistons smothered the stars of their league, Kobe and Shaq, in 5 games.
