The M3 is far more modern. R30 is from the very early 80s, which I think holds up damn well considering.

The e30 chassis was also designed in the late 70s and went into production in the early 80s.....it was a purpose built race car and the ultimate touring car.

The Nissan had a beautiful engine note but I found the BMW his pitched wail ear splitting. Can someone tell if if the little puff off tyre smoke under brakes on the s is if the wheel is unloaded?

The Nissan is turbo ( which takes some of the edge off the exhaust note, ) the BMW is Naturally Aspirated 16V that revs to about 9000rpm, early M3s were 2.3ltr, around 300hp, later they were 2.5ltr about 350hp, the M3 was built as a race first then made road legal, all others were road cars made into race cars! The M3 had fantastic cornering/braking and were generally very reliable!!

Incase people were unaware, the engine is the BMW is an S14, I was not referring to a Nissan S14, which is an SR20 if you were wondering

The skyline is doing its best. To be honest, Japanese cars of this generation are class B, both as base cars and racing cars.

I remember standing at the top of the pits on the inside of the Karrassel at Lakeside Park. Tony Longhurst's M3 coming directly toward me. I could only hear induction noise. It was wonderful. Full of intent.
