Ignore the Queen haters. They’re deaf and blind. They’re outnumbered by billions of Queen fans worldwide. Do what makes you happy and stop worrying about haters and pronouns! This was Freddie’s tribute to Elvis Presley by the way.

I was about to comment how I thought this was a cover of an Elvis song as it totally sounds like something he would do. The style of music and Freddie's way of singing is so Elvis-esque in this song.

@@DidrickNamtvedt 👍🏻if you really want to see Freddie doing his Elvis impersonation then you should watch him performing this song on their set at Live Aid!! It’s on KZbin in HD. What an incredible day that was and so much money was raised for those poor famine victims. Preferably watch Queen’s whole set of 20 minutes or so!! Absolutely brilliant:).

Listen to Mother love. It was the last vocals Freddie recorded and he couldn't get all the way through the song that day so he stopped and said he'd finish it next time. Well, he was never able to finish it so awhile after he died Brian went in and say the last verse. You can tell it's not Freddie. Big box of Kleenex with that one!

Queen - very eclectic musically. They didn't take themselves too seriously and loved to have fun. They did a song called I Want to Break Free, which didn't go down well in America because the video had each band member dressed as a female character from a UK soap called Coronation Street.
@imweakfordeaky
@imweakfordeaky 2 жыл бұрын
It was MTV who had an issue with “I Want to Break Free”, *not America* ! I got to see the video maybe twice before MTV yanked it off the air - everyone *I* knew thought the video was hilarious. Sure, we weren’t familiar with Coronation Street - but we had plenty of men-in-drag comic skits going way back - Bugs Bunny, Milton Berle, the movie “Some Like It Hot” from way previous to IWTBF … closer to the same time as that video, we had Dustin Hoffman in the movie “Tootsie”, Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari in the TV show “Bosom Buddies” , and Julie Andrews in the gender-bending comedy movie “Victor/Victoria”. It was MTV, and (maybe) a small but vocal minority of prudes who stupidly freaked out. MTV’s fate - to become a wasteland of crappy pseudo-reality shows - is richly deserved. While Queen is rightfully Legendary - and still immensely popular.

The Last Queen album released in Freddy’s life time was released around 1991 we was very unwell with Aiids he knew he didn’t have long left but he still killed it. The in 1995 they released Made in Heaven which has his last u finished vocals which Brian May mixed and finished it debuted at number 1 in the charts a great swan song for the best front man ever.
@imweakfordeaky
@imweakfordeaky 2 жыл бұрын
Brian, Roger AND John worked together to finish up Made In Heaven (adding the missing instruments and harmonies to the vocals Freddie managed to leave behind) - it wasn’t just Brian working alone. In fact, Roger and John did quite a bit of the first phases while Brian was touring for his solo album Back To The Light ( released in the UK on Sept 28, 1992)- when Brian came back from that tour, the work on Made in Heaven went into full gear.

Freddie wrote this one in Ten minutes in the bath with his Guitar and then recorded it in the studio, and no Freddie isn't around anymore he passed away in November 1991, however Queen still make music and go out for concerts, Dr Brian May ( astrophysicist) lead guitarist, and Roger Taylor drummer have continued with solo careers, which they and Fred had during the years of Queen as well, who celebrated their 50th anniversary last year and you can follow the group and individuals on social media, you won't find John Deacon the bassist anywhere he retired from public life back in 1997

I'm an old 70 (young at heart) lady and it is thrilling to watch a youngster, such as yourself, listen and enjoy the type of music we/I used to love in our/my young days too! They always give me chills and it's such a pleasure watching and enjoying vicariously through your young eyes. You have so much to look forward to. Freddy was a showman and his clothes were part of his shows! I thought of you the other evening as I watched a film about Queen and Freddy Mercury (all about how they came about, how they made their music and so on, it was fascinating), and I thought I would recommend it to you, it was titled, 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Do check it out when you have the time, it's got all their music in it too. Wishing you the best! TFS , take care! 👍💖 (Hazel UK)

"A Crazy Little Thing Called Love" was indeed very true in Freddie's case. His performances expressed his sexuality but he never spoke much about his personal life. In late 1991 he released a statement disclosing that he had AIDS from which he died a few days later. I suppose today he would be described as bisexual. A great love of his life was Mary Austin, to whom he left the bulk of his estate but they separated as lovers in the 1960's and most of his subsequent love affairs, some quite long-term were with men. A complex brilliant man with a big heart

All gay people knew Freddie was gay. He frequented bars in Berlin & other cities quite openly. His costumes, showing the leather man & even the crown & robe at the end of every concert, stated for all that were in the know, that he was gay. That crown represented Queen & the fact that he was 'Under cover', a queen lol. At a time when coming out ended careers! 🇬🇧

Freddie Mercury died of bronchopneumonia, an AIDS related illness, in 1991 (he was diagnosed in 1987) - the last year Queen released new material like _"The Show Must Go On"_ and _"These Are The Days Of Our Lives"_ in September and October of that year. Freddie was very ill and nearing the end when he filmed the video for the latter song. He kept his illness a secret from the public until he was close to dying. There have been few recordings released since his death.

The interesting thing is this song was released shortly after the hit musical Film Grease was released and a lot of the imagery in the video like the late 50s leathers bike and is noted as a tribute to Elvis Presley. Again as you say its a different look and sound from your other reactions, another very different one would be "Who wants to live Forever" featured in the Film Highlander thats a tear jerker.

I was at Knebworth and the tragic thing was that somebody forgot to press the "record" button and so nothing exists from this concert (other than very bad grainy clips taken by the fans themselves,, and I hasten to add that there were no mobile phones them days so it was the big heavy recorders you had to use). I was at Knebworth and Queen flew in by helicopters over us. There was about 120,000 in the crowd that day. It was in actual fact the last ever LIVE performance that Freddie did with Queen. There was also a tinge of sadness as well as the band members learnt that someone got fatally stabbed at Knebworth. The crowd was in a frenzy from start to finish at that concert and it's something I'll never forget. I became a Queen fan after attending Live Aid in 1985 when I was 16, I'm now 52 !!!!

This was a huge hit around 1979 or 80 .. All over the radio in those days . Queen were incredibly versatile , a few other songs that show how remarkably eclectic they were are " Bring Back that Leroy Brown" from the Sheer Heart Attack record, and "The Millionaires Waltz" from Day At The Races record. Even if you do not do a reaction you owe it to yourself to give a private listen to those. Another incredible song is "Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow" the official video, which will give you another insight into Freddie. And a little Known song on You Tube where Michael Jackson and Freddie collaborated called "There Must Be More To Life Than This" .

The song was Queen's first No. 1 single in the United States. Queen frontman Freddy Mercury wrote the song as a tribute to Elvis Presley, and although Mercury typically composed music on the piano, he wrote "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" on guitar - and he did it in about five to 10 minutes ACTUALLY HE WAS IN HIS TUB LOL -------- HUGE QUEEN AND ELVIS FAN --------- Have been enjoying your Queen reactions so much... Love the youngin's enjoying the older music ------- Queen is still doing music Adam Lambert is the lead vocalist now ..... I haven't listened to them since He joined though..... I know Adam is a GREAT SINGER.... but TO ME NOBODY COULD DO QUEEN BESIDES FREDDIE!!!!!!!!! RIP DARLING -- THANK GOODNESS HE HE GOT TO LIVE OUT HIS LIFE FREELY BEING SO CONFUSED ABOUT HIS SEXUALITY BEING HE THOUGHT HE WAS BISEXUAL BUT FIGURED OUT HE WAS GAY 💞💞NOTHING WORSE I AM BISEXUAL AND STILL IN THE CLOSET!!! SO MUCH TUMOIL MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY FOR HIM SO SAD! WE MISS YOU SO MUCH!!!! 💞💞💞💞💞Sadly, He never came out publicly because of the ridicule -- but HIS MOM'S interview in 2006, Jer spoke about her son, his legacy and his life - even the parts he kept from her. She also shared how selflessly devoted and caring he remained, even as he was dying. 💞💞He passed of HIV / AIDS In 1991

don't know if you noticed but Brian, the guitarist, wasn't using his custom built guitar the 'Red Special' in this song. He's instated using a fender telecaster because Freddie wanted the song to sound like classic 60's american rock which featured a lot of this guitar. It's a nod back to guys like Chuck Berry and Jimi Hendrix to have that authentic telecaster sound in this song. The song has also been described as his Elvis tribute, hence the clothes, hair and his Elvis impersonation you can hear sometimes.

Checking the comments I see most of the info about this song has already been said. One thing I notice every time I see this video is......I think this is the shortest I've ever seen Brain's hair :)

Freddie died in 1991 but Queen are still making music and touring. John Deacon retired in 1997.

Please listen to Queen's song "The Show must go on". Freddie was very ill at that point and Brian wrote him this song. Apparently Freddie had hard time recording it, but he managed it - you will see a lot of Freddie's on stage memories. It's a glorious song !

[I will have seen this before, but didn't realise good the choreography was...] I like that you are familiarising yourself with the songs AHEAD of seeing him perform them at the Live Aid concert; a very good idea as you will appreciate the performance itself and his showmanship with the songs already settled in your 'music memory' 👍

This was in my Karoake catalog before a stroke stole my beautiful baritone;( Anybody that don’t like queen has no taste or knowledge of music! One thing about Queen, from one album to the next, they never sound the same! I definitely recommend Brian Mays birthday tribute to Freddie Mercury! You can tell Brian May had great respect and love for Freddie. Freddie died in 1991 of complications of HIV/AIDS

You should watch the film “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Obviously it’s too long to do a reaction to but I would recommend it for your own time. You will learn a lot more about Freddie

Strip Elvis😂 seriously though, this is one of my favorite songs because you could clearly see and hear the Elvis influence and it’s just kind of the perfect little tribute.

It's so weird watching you react to Queen from a dorm room, because I was watching live aid in college at a frat house when I was your age, on actual TV as it was being performed.

If you really want a great example of Queen's versatility, you should listen to their song "Another One Bites the Dust." It's a completely different direction from this song; but both of those songs are on the same album, "The Game," and only separated by a song in between them!

Queens 'to much love will kill you' is my absolute favourite song. Then I would say it's 'these are the days of our lives'. I always get way to emotional at the end of it.

I'd love to see you react to early 70's Queen. My favorites would be Stone Cold Crazy (Live) or Liar (Live). They have taken an amazing musical journey over the years. Watching the early stuff helps you appreciate what great musicians they are.

Its a tribute song, to some of his musical heroes, in particular Elvis Presley, and its sung almost like an impersonation of Elivis. It is an original song, but I have to admit I thought it was an Elivis song, that they did a cover of.

So nice to see someone discovering Queen and Freddie at your age, I think you are around the same age as me when I started to see Queen as the best band ever. And Freddie is in the top 5 of best singers that ever was. Difference is when I became a fan there was no KZbin yet in the way it's there now. I remember having a Sony Discman playing the songs that I downloaded on Kazaa! as illigal MP3 songs. But just like you I started with a couple songs then found out every song is a goody as long as Freddie sang it. And I would advice you to go on Wikipedia and read about Freddie Mercury because asking if he's still alive is a bit sad if you know the full story which will take you 10 minutes to learn. If you like Crazy little thing called love I would advice you to find one more song that sounds very similar that Queen made it's called "Man on the prowl" Queen is more then Bohemian Rhapsody and the well known songs there are so many songs that are so good that most people have never even heard... And I'm sure someone your age will love the Highlander Theme ... Here we are born to be kings...

one of my favorite videos of this song is from their only appearance on Sat. Night Live. They were fantastic! By the way. I'm sure Queen with Freddie stopped putting out records before you were born. Brian May and Roger Taylor are still touring with Adam Lambert. They are fantastic, but there will never be another Freddie. (John retired)

I'm in love with my car is another different song written by Roger Taylor the drummer. His son Rufus Tiger Taylor is the drummer for The Darkness. They were all so talented musicians, Freddie was the full entertainer of the group.

Queen had some really great album cuts also on top of their many great hits. My favorite band after the Beatkes! Try their song called Dragon Attack. And if you are not familiar with the Beatles, try the song called Something. you will love both of these songs if you have a soul!
