This does not actually solve the true issue. The issue is with the NEC/Tokin capacitors which go bad. They're next to the CPU/GPU, it temporarily solves the problem via heat. I suspect the rumor spread from the 360 which actually had the ball joints get hairline cracks and whiskers etc... which a reflow does solve the 3 ring RROD.

All your doing is heating up the faulty token capacitors beside the GPU and CPU which cause the console to temporarily work again. It might work for a few weeks or a few days but it’s guaranteed to fail again unless you replace the token capacitors

@SkuldChan42

Do you think mainly the heatgun just melted the heatsink paste just a bit to make it a bit more viscous? I wouldn't think that heatgun would actually be able to reflow any bad solder joints. I'll try it out though.

@@gamingo_gguyverx6812 I've been having mine since 2006 60gb model, and it still works. The warranty sticker is still intact. I only use the system for PS2 games and I just play my super slim PS3 for all my PS1 and PS3 games. I really hope I don't get the YLOD on my 60gb PS3.

It depends on what is wrong with the PS3. YLOD or RLOD are pretty much the same thing, however, Yellow is more CPU and Heat Sync trouble related, while Red is Motherboard and Power Supply realted. Plus -- RLOD is more common for PS3 hit by a power surge, while YLOD is ones for one that been used heavyly. Both can be fixed with the same common 4 methods....However -- if the PS3 have power surge damage , then you might have to replace a internal cable/rebbon ; to get it up and Running 100. Edit: But yes, the term "Yellow Light of Death" covers both issues.

Just literally had this problem with my PS3 and it was the first time it happened. Yes I’m probably like the last one with a PS3 but whatever I know how to make things in collectibles lol. Anyway instead of me needing a heat gun to do all that stuff, can I just simply clean the dust off and have the system work again after that?

unfortunately the video does not demonstrate how hot it really gets. Sadly a hair dryer is not hot enough to melt the solder.

Hackerbro - i liek turtles hold the eject button while unplugging it at the same time still holding the eject button plug it back in then let go. That will kick the fan into high gear and spit your game out. Remember hold the eject button entire time then unplug and plug back in then let go and wait

@@gospodin338+ If it has 4 usb ports, you can play PS2 games! All of the consoles that i bought had 4 ports. Its backwards compatible with PS2 formats! I have a ps2 but now i can play more games! Its just that, it overheats if you play a ps2 game on it! It heats up real fast so dont put into a closed area!
