It’s interesting that metro style/inner city express trains are called rapid service in Japan. There’s many labels for the services trains provide. In the US, they are only known as local and express, even in the metro/subway system.

It depends on the railway company. JR group companies tend to use rapid or special rapid. The private railways use various terms for different types of express services. These include semi-express, express, limited express, rapid limited express, etc. There are also services with the word 'commuter' appended to denote extra peak-hour services which can have different stopping patterns from the usual services. Oh and these trains aren't strictly inner city services. They do extend out to the countryside and so they are more like an amalgamation of traditional metro and commuter rail.

im confused with joban line color, they have 3 colors: dark blue, green tozca, and orange-green, whats the different?

コメントありがとうございます！ 常磐線は基本的に２つのカラーがあります。 紺と緑です。オレンジグリーンは常磐線では無いと思います。日本の鉄道はひとつの路線に複数の会社線が乗り入れるので分かりづらいですよね。 ちなみに常磐線を走る特急は現在期間限定で6色あります😅
