Kudos to Katt. Knowing about these places and events. I now they did find the ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah near the dead sea. You can find the white pillars and walls burned and even melted by extreme heat. When Lot's wife turned into a pillar of salt it was because when she turned around to see both cities for the last time she was too close. The explosion and extreme heat blasted the salt from the dead sea encrusting her body. Which turned her to a pillar of salt. Lot and his two daughters kept moving like they were commanded and were sparred. If anyone knows about the dead sea it actually has volcanic like activity in the northern parts.

When we look at the story we only know from Genesis of 1 behavior regarding this people.
