I'm reading the comments and I can't believe people are blown away that Norton is explaining this to joe. NO folks...hes brilliant! he's explaining everything to the listeners like he's telling a story. a podcast isn't just a conversation between two people. It's talking to thousands of people and breaking everything down like everyone is new to what they're talking about.

Very well said. The people making derogatory comments know about martial arts. For someone like me, who’s knows jack about martial arts, Nortons explanation gives understanding to what he’s talking about. This is true... I met Relson Gracie on a trip to Hawaii in 1992, and flew back several times from Austin, TX just to train with him. He told me that I should go to Los Angeles and practice there since Hawaii was an expensive trip. So I began training at Carson St. with Rorian and Royce and ended up at UFC 1. At UFC 2 walking to a restaurant with the Gracie group in downtown Denver, I mistakenly began talking and making jokes with a short lady with long dark hair. It turned out to be Rickson's wife! Relson had showed me several tapes of Rickson fighting on the street, the beach, and arenas, and that he had a record of 300/0! Rickson suddenly appeared and got right in my face, eyeball to eyeball. Everyone there froze. After a very awkward silence, he asked me who I was. I told him my name and that I was a white belt and trained with Relson and now Royce, and that I loved Gracie Jiu Jitsu. He then became the nicest guy and spent the next hour with his arm around me telling me the whole story of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. He also invited me to begin training with him - I thought I was in heaven! A purple belt there named Steve Maxwell asked me what Rickson said to me for an hour. When I told him Rickson invited me to train with him, he said that wasn't really a good idea because I was likely to get hurt there. A few months later at Carson St., not Rickson's gym, a big Nordic Greco-Roman wrestler from somewhere in Europe neck cranked me, making it difficult for me to practice Gracie Jiu-Jitsu since.

He's just having a conversation with someone about a shared subject, but it's mostly for the audience's benefit. A pattern which Cap could easily read. Cap woulda easily lost tho against a normal savage Hulk...

This is my favorite Rickson Gracie quote, it's from a video: "Everything Bruce Lee said was the true essence of martial arts and his philosophy about fighting was 100% correct."
@peterbartolomeo5542 Жыл бұрын
He also said Lee never fought anyone.
@stephanwatson7902 Жыл бұрын
@@peterbartolomeo5542 except for a boxing match against Gary Elms, he didn't have any pro fights and yes he fought people..what level were their skills? Don't know, but Bruce had a lot right and was mixing the same martial arts we mix today. Also former UFC champ GSP is on video saying he uses several techniques and concepts from Bruce Lee, so as much as Keyboard Warriors want to throw a hissy fit, I think one of the best fighters in the world like Georges St-Pierre would know better. Other Fighters like Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Conor McGregor, all use and talk about using things from Bruce Lee as well, but what would they know they're just professional UFC fighters?

What was that breathing exercise they were showing in Hulk? Loved Norton as Banner btw. We do something similar to that and I am wondering what it is for BJJ
