Will This $50 Part Solve Our $30,000 Blown Motor Issue? (Cheapest Cayman pt.2)

Will we be able to fix the cheapest Porsche Cayman for just $50? We bought this car sight unseen at auction for dirt cheap with mechanical damage. We thought the motor was blown, but maybe it's a simple fix after all? We go for a first drive after the quick repair. We have bought so many cheap Porsche Boxsters and have gotten so lucky, so will out luck continue? Hopefully there is no bore scoring or IMS issues to come.

Love the Porsche content because I'll never have the money for a sorted one but may have a chance with a action car and you point out alot of issues that may help me make a better decision when putting in a bid and I also got a method when bidding on one that will help when the time comes love the Porsche content one of my favorite brands 😊

@poormansporsche744 that's awesome and good advice. I'm dreaming of a 21- 23 lightly hit in the front that nobody else is paying attention to for like 2000 dollars like I said I'm dreaming 🤣🤣🤣

I love these buy-cheap-do a-little bit of-maintenance videos! On the one hand, I appreciate y'all aren't professional techs/mechanics and you're learning as you go, AND you do it with the absolute cheapest tools there are; but man, if y'all invested in a few more & quality tools, you would save yourselves so much time! Anyways, great content!

Do you ever donate your cars? My son graduated high school a year ago. I've been in prison for the majority of his life and more than likely I will never be able to do anything significant for him. He's trying to put his self through college on a dollar store salary. It just sucks he has to do it all on his own, and doesn't even have a car. I messed up my life and he's casualty of my bad decisions. Let me know if there's anything you can think of and I will give you his contact info.

I replaced my AOS at 90k. It was a huge PIA. Extremely difficult because of the limited snd restricted mid-engine space to with in. With patience and the right tools, got it done. 2 eBay parts (AOS, new hose) and a special type of long-nose pliers, and 4 hours later DONE.

That was the MAF=Mass Airflow Sensor, if it has any debris on it, especially oil, it won't work at all, and put the vehicle in limp mode, if your lucky? Don't use brake clean to clean it, it will destroy it? Only use MAF or electronic parts cleaner, or just replace it?

NO on the anti seize for the plugs. Not required any longer as the current spark plugs are no longer made of steel. This can also throw off your torque specs as well.

The oil in the combustion chamber, will be blown out the exhaust valve, and accumulate in the catalytic convertor, and hopefully not take forever to burn off?
@DeuceDeuceBravo
@DeuceDeuceBravo Жыл бұрын
There are companies that make uograded AOS for racing, but they're very expensive and overkill for normal driving. Those catalytic converters might not last much longer. Magnaflow makes nice headers with cats for a very reasonable cost.

The AOS can be a nuisance from hell. I ended up replacing mine, but not because of this. It was just leaking oil. Probably not too bad if you're not a huge person with big hands and arms, but I'm pretty sure I broke mine in several places to get the new one attached. XD

You stuck in a quick comment that you changed the oil. Correct oil amount fixed your car which was smoking because you overfilled it in the first video before you checked the oil level which you should have remembered you can do from your previous Boxsters. But Hey you made it smoke so more videos=more money.

There is nothing wrong with driving it home after the AOS fails. The issues can happen if you turn it off and attempt to restart it. We see it all the time at the track do to high G-loading in the corners. Wide sticky rubber can overwork the AOS.

You should not use anti seize, if you have purchased the correct spark plugs they already have an anti seize coating. Adding anti seize will also change the torque setting you need. Ie it will reduce the amount of torque required to tighten up the plugs.
