So true! When i started reselling 7 years ago, I tried to do too much too fast, and I burnt out fast. I completely gave up, partially because many things were happening in my personal life, but I'm glad I stood back, slowed down, and restarted again taking baby steps. One reseller gave me the advice of just focusing on one thing at a time. Get really good at one thing before even thinking of trying anything else, and that helped! It's SO easy to get in over your head with this business!! And when you're starting small because your funds are limited, you just can't afford to go too fast.

If you are moving for an eBay business make sure to first go there and test the waters. A town of 15k people is actually not that big and unless its a super wealthy area you might not find stuff worth selling. I have driven to many different areas testing the waters and to be honest sometimes cities/areas of over a million people are not that good, but then some are amazing. If you look at any of the KZbinrs making 100k+ they all seem to live in Florida, Texas, Utah and California. There's a good reason for that and not all areas of the Country are equal when it comes to reselling, no matter what anyone tries to tell you. Just this last week I went to about 25 thrift stores in a city of 2 million people and it was terrible. I got 4 items and would have gotten maybe 30+ in those 3 days had I stayed home. It would be exciting to be able to totally pick up roots and chase a dream. I wish you the best of luck.

@@titantv9496 i’ve lived in a town of 450 people with the nearest grocery store 20 miles away, for 35 years. I’m a retired dispatcher and in Wyoming we are used to driving 100 to 200 miles a day just to go to work and back sometime. over the past two years I’ve built my eBay business up to top rated seller plus and that with all the long distance travel, I have to do to find items to sell. But I also have other resources such as closet, clean out and house clean out. Moving to this bigger town 100 miles away will give me access to more thrift shops and get a college town with a big university, so most of the clothing is donated is trending and more useful to young people and definitely more modern type stuff. But I also am a participant in the mountain man rendezvous where we shoot black powders and throw tomahawks and cook over a fire and reenact the 1840s so some of the clothes I get and some that I make and sell are completely different than what I do on eBay. I have a variety of income sources because my retirement isn’t enough to live on even in Wyoming. I’ve always done things by the seat of my pants and relied on the Lord to get me through it and give me insight. I appreciate your input. The closest really large city in Wyoming would be Cheyenne and it’s only 55,000 people. The next one would be Fort Collins and Denver, which I can go to and source quite well actually because there are two Goodwill outlets. I’ve been very blessed to be able to get enough inventory from the two tiny thrift shops in my area where I live right now and a few others within 100 miles. It’s all about work, it’s always about the work. Good luck in your endeavors as well.

I have a question. I have two tower speakers up on eBay. My question is how to charge calculated shipping on something like that if there’s two items that ship in two boxes. I did add a quantity of two to my listing with calculated shipping so they would get charged for both. But seems like it should be easier than that. It’s causing confusion and buyers are asking questions. Maybe next time I’ll try free shipping and go off the high side of the calculated ship price.

I have 2 questions. First, do you do any of the eBay percentage promotions on your items? Second, when you use one of the cross listing apps, does it pick up all you already have listed on eBay or do you have to go back and add each one? I've been doing eBay as my main income for almost a year and I'm ready to cross post. It makes me a little ill to think I would have to go back and redo all of my items to get them to another platform. Love your videos. I think they are the most informative eBay videos on You Tube. Long time listener, first time commernter. I ran too fast and need to slow down. Thanks for the wake up call. I have a few questions: Most important to me: 1) What is a "good sell thru rate" Does everyone have a different definition? I know you say 100% sale thru rate a lot but one thing I sell is DVDs at a low sell the rate and still make $1,000 a month on them. I just have a bigger inventory and selection. Do you have a sliding scale based on profit or stick to a strict 100% sale thru rate even if it is a 10x opportunity. 2) Do you consider the time value of money? You had said you would buy something that had a $2 profit if you know it will sell quick. I can't sell anything for anything less than a $4 profit because it is a big waste of time finding it, listing it, packing it and going to the post office. 3) I know you talk a lot to beginners but do you consider having positives like 100% feedback rating, 15K+ sales, free returns, lower price than competitors, etc in the sell thru rate or just 100% straight up regardless. 4) How do you test vintage electronics if the a/v adaptors, cables and components are also rare and vintage? I bought some and realized I didn't have all wires and components to test a 40 year old electronic. Enjoy the content! Keep educating us, it is helping.

So when we see hundreds of listings for an item but only a few solds, even though those sold listings contain many many multiples, doesn't that mean only a VERY FEW SELLERS are having success selling that item? So then we need to look for any differences between the "solds" and the "unsolds" listings. Many times, the key difference is free shipping. This is why i am very leery of retail arbitrage, esp. with inexpensive items, including some makeup items. It seems there are high volume sellers who are routinely able to offer free shipping as standard. I am not able to do that and still make a profit. Still hoping to learn and researching. Any thoughts on this? Keep the videos coming. I am learning a lot and my sales are increasing!
