I took the case off my Gold JRL 2020c and spray painted it Matt Black (now it's not slippery) and put a fusion blade on it.... It's now basically the Onyx.... Poorman's version 2.0 I agree about the ergonomics... Its not horrible but not great. (microphone is a good description) Was gonna buy the Onyx but I don't feel like it would be much of an upgrade, so I'm waiting for TPOB Play. I already like his ergonomics better. Plus he cracks me up and I wanna support the brand. Already ordered the XO large in part to your Review 🤙🏽

I've had the Onyx since the day it came out and I'm going to have to completely disagree with you on power. This is the strongest clipper I've come across. I've cut through some of the thickest hair I can find and this thing never bogs. Cuts very clean on the first pass. The original JRL couldn't handle any bulk but the new onyx is a total beast in every catagory

its the ceramic blade that makes it feel a bit weak but smoother if you switch to say a magic clip cutting blade it goes through bulk easier but it will get hot if you put a wahl fade blade and cutting blade but power does increase

I’m just going off my experience with it, maybe it’s just not my match. I did like it a lot but it didn’t meet my expectations. All good to agree to disagree 🤜🏼💥🤛🏼

I have 2 of the 2nd generation 2020C's and I've never had any problems busting through extremely thick course hair. It was almost scary how effortlessly it went through, so I don't get the claims that it's weaker. Hands down I'd say this is one of the best clippers I've put my hands on in 31 years of cutting.

Also got to disagree with you on the power thing. Great at doing soft fades with the 2 speed settings. But even more greater for bulk and clipper over comb! All rounder my opinion

Pricing is bad but in the name of the clipper is “fresh fade”.. it’s meant to fade and detail only they don’t market it as a powerhouse clipper but it definitely wasn’t worth the $250 originally or the $199… sold 2 of them because the blade/guards are mid and its terrible once you zero gap them

I’d have to totally disagree with you about going through bulk. I have every good ad adjustable clipper on the market and this thing eats through bulk as good as any of them do. Maybe you just got a defective clipper
