So in Gen2 I believe Mirror move will copy almost any move your opponent last used (Like in the Gen2 minimum battles run Blue's Pidgeot mirrors Kenya's curse and got a sweep) This got changed in Gen3. The logic is that Mirror move's concept is actually to reflect (pun intended) whatever move you got hit last and use your opponent's moves to hit back. In other words, Mirror move can only work on moves that you got targeted on. Growth is a self-target move, you do not "Growth" your opponent, you growth yourself. Therefore it will not be Mirror Moved starting in Gen3. Attract is a move that targets the opponent, so you can mirror move attract.
@rainpooper70882 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly how it works. Mirror Move can never copy a status move that targets the user, be it a boosting move, a healing move or something wacky like Substitute or Destiny Bond, but it can copy status moves that target the opponent like Attract.

Hey jrose, there's actually a very quick way to level up in Emerald, while the vs seeker doesn't exist you can rebattle trainers using the pokenav. How it works is that for the trainers you have registered in your pokenav, each of them might want to rebattle you when you enter their route. So during the Gen II era, in one of my game playthroughs, I really wanted to use Sunkern, as I saw that it could learn Sunny Day, Synthesis, and Giga Drain upon level-up, and then if you evolved it on the same level it learned Giga Drain, the Sunflora would learn Solarbeam, and my young brain at the time thought that would be an awesome moveset (what is type coverage?). I unfortunately did not know at the time how garbage Sunkern's stats were, and actually training it up to Lv. 46 was an utter pain... and the resulting Sunflora, wasn't particularly worth it either. (17:20) Overheat is 140 base power, not 150. But yeah, it's way too much for your seed. (29:44) Maybe it's because Attract targeted Swablu, while Growth only buffed the user, so it can only use Mirror Move on something that targets it? (33:09) There are certain trainers that get registered in your PokéNav in RSE, and you can get into rematches with them. It's a bit finicky, but usually I find that if you enter and leave the route that the trainer is on rapidly and repeatedly (like, by going up and down across the border between Route 104 and Rustboro, for example), this greatly increases the likelihood that trainers on that route will suddenly want to rematch you. And, when you first open the PokéNav, if its big blue light on the left is blinking, that means there's a trainer on that route that's ready to rematch you, so that can be a quick way to check (Route 104 is particularly good for money, because of the Lady and Rich Boy that can both rematch you on that route). However, this doesn't seem to work all that well for some places like Petalburg Woods that you have to screen transition into (I can almost never get the Bug Catcher there to rematch me at will, for instance). (1:15:43) Actually, you'd need 6 Growths to double your power compared to 2. With 2 Growths, you have 200% power. With 4 Growths, you have 300% power, not 400%. Therefore, it would take 6 Growths to reach 400% power. (1:16:58) Yep. With just 5 Growths under your belt, you only have 350% power, which is not quite enough. (1:18:10) Clutch crit FTW! (1:18:35) You're welcome! (1:20:05) And that's game, with a first-try flawless victory on Wallace! Huzzah!

In Generation 3, Mirror Move doesn't work on moves that you use on yourself. It only works on moves that you use against your opponent. One example is Growth, which you use on yourself, and Mirror Move can't copy the move. Now if it's something like Sand Attack or Toxic, those can be copied by Mirror Move because they target your opponent.

I want to see a tier list for Emerald like the one you did for Red&Blue. Anyway, it was a very entertaining run to watch while stuff was encoding at my job.
@pyromaniac000000 Жыл бұрын
So TECHNICALLY it isnt actually the pokemon with the lowest stats. By all rights, shedinja is in fact worse, having only 161 USABLE stat points, with 75 points that realistically dont exist at all, since it only has 1 hp, and the minimum damage you can take from an attack (inany generatio except gen 1, which shedinja doesnt exist in anyway) is 1, the 75 points it has in its defenses technically do not exist, as it will LITERALLY never be able to get use from them! So if you go just by the stats you will actually get use out of, sunkern has more usable stats than shedinja.

@Igorcastrochucre2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but it was Emerald that introduced the pool of Pickupable items varies by level, and White Herbs are a level 41 at minimum and a 1% at that and the highest level pick up mon one can have in Emerald is 27. Even if he did allow for the daycare, it's 50,000 steps, and he'd still have to grind for the White Herb.

Just throwing this out there for future Gen 3 stuff because of your Glacia battle where you thought setting up against the Blizzard Sealeo wouldn't be viable (despite many other luck based strategies used throughout), Blizzard doesn't get its accuracy negating during Hail effect until Gen 4. Great run though, glad you're branching out more recently. Gotta say though, I feel like you make certain aspects of these way harder on yourself than they need to be. Specifically referring to the berry fiasco near the end, why if you're modifying your save (I assume this is what you meant by "importing" it to something like PKHex) you don't just tinker with your EVs manually since it's fundamentally the same thing. The same idea could be applied to using Candies to level up instead of fighting wild Mons, although I think there's probably limitations to the legitimacy of this ideal such as modifying IVs for different Hidden Powers (or for anything really) at different points in the run or changing your ability in games before the Ability Capsule exists/is obtainable. Obviously if a run is borderline impossible I'd prefer to see a Mon reach its max potential by any means necessary before giving up on it (such as the Spinarak run), but there's definitely a balance to be reached between logical convenience and illogical abuse. Just wanted to drop this idea out there if it would make these easier (production wise) and more enjoyable.
@Jrose112 жыл бұрын
I legit dump it and just use an emulator, there's 0 modification happening. On Emulator the in game clock is tied to the real clock so it can be changed.

I forget if Gen 4 has the Fateful Encounter flag so Darkrai will obey or not. If doing a solo run you'd need to be able to make it so Darkrai will obey in the first battle or just lose it since it isn't required to win then edit it in a save editor to be Fateful Encounter. I know Gen 3 had it for Deoxys and Jirachi, maybe Celebi and Mew, where if that flag isn't checked it won't listen to you like a traded Pokemon.

This was a cool run! Admittedly I've always had a soft spot for Sunkern and especially Sunflora. Part of me wishes they were better than they actually are, since I'd love to use one on a team one day just because I've always liked it and found it cute. But hey - pokemon don't have to be good or strong to be one of your favourites!
@glitchin12332 жыл бұрын
It is kinda strange though, typically if a pokemon is very weak in its base evolution it will evolve into something pretty good like Garados, and Sunkern needs a special stone that only worked on 2 pokemon when it was introduced. You would think Sunflora would be a good grass type but no, just average to below as far as stats go
@frozenfeet45342 жыл бұрын
@@glitchin1233 this is very common especially in older gens - earlygame pokemon are supposed to be weak, lategame pokemon are supposed to be strong. this is also why rock throw had 60% accuracy in gen 1 - early trainers use rock types, so make rock types moves worse

You can rematch trainers in RSE, they just don't call you like in GSC and you can't fight them on command like with FRLG's Vs Seeker. You can check who wants to battle on the PokeNav's Trainer's Eye but it's faster to go talk to them. They seems to want to battle again every 5 or so minutes and they level up a couple times themselves.
@Eroil2 жыл бұрын
To correct you a bit- in Emerald it's not based on time when they want to battle but every time you enter their route there's a chance that they'll want to battle you. Using this strategy you can go in and out of their route quickly and almost guarantee a battle. Doing this on route 117 helps you level up very quickly faster than even victory road pretty sure
@nothx132 жыл бұрын
@@Eroil Hey, I also have another way of rematching too! By walking around by 255 steps, you can get a call from registered trainers! Even though, most of the time they we're just saying random things, theres a roughly 31% chance or so of them wanting to rematch! (I'm not entirely sure about the chances part, tho. If I remember correctly, the chance is applied only to gym leaders but not entirely sure. Correct me if I'm wrong!) This is maybe not the most efficient way of grinding via rematches, but it is one of the possible ways if you like to running/bike around crazily for fun or whatever and this is also a little bit of funfact about Emerald. I'm not trying to correcting you or anything. Just saying. (I know about this from looking at the source code of Emerald for fun :P)
