@@JRPGLifeI agree. Most people aren’t liars, and will just be truthful. They probably won’t flat out say they hate a person, but maybe will go into detail about the things they do that they dislike. So I do genuinely believe that if when people are asked if they like a certain someone in this video, they are being truthful, especially about Caleb. I’ve heard about the hate for him, but his channel and his success tell a different story.

Cool video. I think the biggest and most obvious argument against reselling is profiting off the games vs collecting/playing them. The idea of flipping games for profit just inherently sounds anti-gamer when you think of it, but it does have it's benefits for everyone. The thrill of finding a gem you've been lookin for from fb marketplace is almost entirely non-existent because start up resellers job is to watch those like a hawk. It's a give and take but certainly an interesting topic.

I think the reason local game stores charge more is because of rent. If you noticed how bad it has gotten with inflation and let's be serious the tariffs won't help next year.

I would pick buying at a physical store that matches ebay average pricing any day. Being able to look at a game before buying it is awesome. Every ebay purchase of a ps1 game I've had in the last few months has had an issue. The listing is Very Good, and the pictures look great. However, pictures usually aren't enough. Open the manual, and there's rust inside on the staples but the outside looked fine. The disc, though described as Very Good is scratched. The pictures never catch scratches unless the seller takes 5 minutes trying to capture it, which they don't do. The manual or art is water Damaged once you get it out of the jewel case. Ebay sellers mostly suck at stating the correct condition, or noting any flaws. Everything is very good, but if you read what Very Good means on ebay, non of the games listed that way meet the condition definition. Ebay is a gamble, unless you ask tons of questions before buying.

I personally think that people forget that he is running a business, he does the things he does (KZbin aside) for money because it is his livelihood. Not everyone SHOULD try to replicate his practices. Practices like dumping a ton of trashy titles off with a local store to get a few mid level titles or 1~2 big titles are definitely scummy things to do but it’s apart of the business that a game store runs💰Not PR’s fault it’s an easy to take advantage of system, doesn’t mean he / others should take advantage of it but these things happen

I think like anything there’s probably an ethical way to reselling. Instead of going to dozens of different Walmarts and purchasing all 15 copies of Madden 20 they have for 3¢ to resell on Amazon for $40. Not that anyone in particular comes to mind….

They do seem a little bit higher end on a lot of their items however they also give a better value by cleaning stickers off their game cases for taking the time to get rid of names on cartridge games nearly every item I've purchased was clean and ready to be played or put with my collection

I have a similar looking Monster Hunter grip and the battery is to power the thumbstick and the back button. If you check by the thumbstick there’s an infrared sensor that ends up lining up with the 3DS systems infrared sensor in order to constantly have your registered grip inputs work with your game.

I’ve tried eBay as a PS3 collector and the quality is so mixed. Even if I ask the sellers they send me misleading pics and won’t call things out. Finding good quality cases and discs is just difficult on EBay. So I mostly stick to stores now.

I actually got very lucky recently found myself while searching online a copy of Pokemon leaf Green cartridge only for only $30. What I think it happened is they where I got it from they put the price as what they were seeing eBay was selling for that also included the fake copies so as soon as I got it delivered I made sure to double-check that it was a legit copy it was I say that was probably one of my best finds of the year next to also going to my local flea market and doing a trade of both CIB Persona 1 and Persona 2 for the PS1 and trading for some of my duplicate sealed NIS collector's editions that had gone up in value
@Dusty_B2 күн бұрын
It’s just like everything else. You have good resellers and you have scumbag resellers. The same way you can have good retro game stores and scummy retro game stores. It’s a case by case basis. If you don’t like the reseller avoid them and their content. Same with the stores. No need for hate. Anyway end rant 😂 As for online vs in person. It can definitely be worth the extra money to go to a game store and be able to see and touch the game for yourself. You get a definite grasp of the condition and most will open up the carts to check if they’re real. Not to mention if they have a good return policy. Also nothing beats the feeling of walking into a shop and see something you never knew existed that is amazingly cool that you have to have.

The amount of toxic videos / conversations in the video game and collectible world that continually regurgitate the same topics will forever be the problem, not the actual things they’re talking about. People don’t talk about Aaron Riff being a big part of the “problem” but masking it with jokes that ultimately makes the conversation a moot point. Or to ask every vendor at a convention what the best they can do is is also not helping the cause. Especially for a single item. Bulk makes sense, but to always anticipate the vendor taking money off when they are also trying to make a living is just insulting. So all that said, it is a two way street… and most KZbin channels covering the subject seem to favor one side of that street.
@JRPGLife3 күн бұрын
I would argue that most KZbinrs fall in the group that just wants to get along with everyone, regardless of how that person makes money. Hyperbole is the enemy of reason 🤷🏻♂️
@Uirigames3 күн бұрын
@@JRPGLife i guess that depends on what side of youtube you're on
@Dusty_B2 күн бұрын
Speaking from personal encounters some vendors will actually intentionally overcharge at conventions because they know people are going to haggle for “the best they can do”. They jack up the price so they have something they can take off. It’s a win-win for the seller. The customer gets their “discount” and the ones that don’t ask gets the seller their upcharge. Again “some”. Always expecting a discount is stupid, but saying it is insulting to even ask? Nah. As for the dislike of resellers, for those who do I feel like it’s a mixture of jealousy and a feeling that they are bragging about it. It’s not just hey I happened to find this cool game cheap! It’s hey I happened to find this cool game cheap let’s see how much money I can make! If the person watching really wanted that game they might be cool with the first part, but maybe not so much with the second. A huge percentage of people that actively dislike resellers, more than likely do reselling themselves, so I’d wager it’s more an anger of the presentation rather than the actual act. Im of the mindset, if you don’t like the content, don’t watch it. Also that lumping people into categories is idiotic in general. There are going to be scumbag resellers and there are going to be really nice resellers and people should know better and not just throw every reseller automatically in the same category.

Oversimplified, yes but saying he's got no idea is a reach. Sold on Amazon (though only a very small fraction gaming-related) for years and have dealt with my fair share of being gated. Amazon's seller program is highly reactive and is meant to protect Amazon itself with very little concern for the 3rd party sellers which of course makes sense. There's a reason why you're seeing more and more marketplaces. Show me someone counting on Amazon as their sole platform and I'll show you a fool.
