You do not need a scanner to put the brake system in service mode. Turn your key to the on position (do not start the truck) step on the brake, hold in the parking brake button for approx. 15 seconds, you will see the brake service light on the left side of the instrument panel, let off the brake pedal and push the emergency brake button 1 more time then you are in service mode.do the steps in reverse to remove service mode.

I recommend removing the brake fluid reservoir cap before compressing the caliper pistons. Remember to replace the reservoir cap after both caliper pistons are compressed.

Why brakes at 76,000 miles or was it done more for the video?...Do you tow a lot? I am at 97,000 original 5mm left all they way around average driving style mix of city and highway

Because the brakes were so low they triggered the wear sensor. I do a fair amount of towing an hauling in the vehicle and strangely because the rears are "undersized" especially compared to the front - the rear brakes needed replacing about 6k miles before the fronts did.

@@JrsGasolineAlley I only have 25000 miles on my truck and just got the service brake monitor system message, I haven't checked yet, but I hope my brakes aren't worn already.

@@deluxeg Were they Junk? My rear pads are trash on the inside. Only 38K on the truck. Service light for brakes came on at about 29K you can disable it. Depending on how bad your pads and rotors are you may be able to go alot further on them. I currently have 38K and am swapping my pads out tomorrow. Rotors are still good. I despise electronic parking brakes.

@@deluxeg Yeah that sucks. I just did mine yesterday. Needed Rotors too. Only took about an hour to swap them out $175 Parts. No way I was paying the dealer $700

You don’t need a scanner they have videos on doing it from inside your truck. I just did mine and replaced my brake pads

Where is the silicone caliper lube? You did not put any on the new hardware and did not put any on the calipers slide pins. This is a big mistake.

you don't need a scan tool to get it into brake service mode. You just press the brake, push the Brake button for 10-15 seconds, release, then press it once more. The biggest pain in this whole nonsense? The stupid brake wear harnesses on the driver's side. They are a royal pain. Make sure the pad kit INCLUDES the replacement harnesses, because if it doesn't, you'll be making a trip to the auto parts store because you WILL break them. Why on earth anyone needs a friggin electronic brake wear indicator is beyond me. When the brakes squeal, replace the dang pads. You don't need some fancy electronic gadget to tell you unless you're a moron.

Yeah but most people are morons
