I tried to guess on color alone and I was incorrect. Coors Banquet is my go-to American Lager. I enjoy it much more than Bud or High Life. I wish more bars would carry it. I'll drink Bud bottles if I go to a greasy dive bar. If I'm home I get 30 packs of Banquets.

I finally did it. I had a little money left over from my paycheck. And so I went to the gas station and got a 6-pack of Coors banquet in the bottles. And then a 12 pack of the cans and I did a taste test, and I noticed that the bottle was way better than the can though. From now on I may get 12 pack of the bottles

Being 70 years old... I can still remember the original Coors from Colorado that had to be keep chilled on the trucks and in the stores... it was marvelous. Today's Coors is just Miller beer, after the merger. The original St Louis Bud was also great. Then they opened regional breweries and it just sucks now. ... after all these USA cheap Macro brew reviews, IMO... PBR reigns supreme. What really sucks is Beck's and Stella Artois are now no longer Imports.... but brewed by Budweiser. Now two beers I enjoyed taste like crap.

Think I like it because it is done without adding CO2 SWITCHBACK ALE 5.0% ABV and 28 IBU Unfiltered and 100% Naturally Carbonated Switchback Ale was developed as a flavor concept, not adhering to any style guidelines. Using only traditional ingredients, Switchback Ale is an unfiltered, reddish-amber ale which is particularly well-balanced, allowing for complexity of flavor coupled with an unusually smooth and refreshing character. Five different malts, select hop varieties, and our own specially cultivated yeast create an ale which leads with hop flavors and a subtle impression of fruit (our yeast’s contribution), followed by a palate pleasing malty finish.

@@rolandrosa760 best way to explain Coors when it first got a cult following is "FRESH" Like when you go to a micro brew pub and they crack open a new keg of something they just brewed a few days ago... being non pasteurized it had to be kept cold until drinking. You swore you were drinking fresh Rocky Mtn spring water made into beer. Nothing like the corn syrup tasting beer today. It wasn't long once they went national they started pasteurizing for shelf life... it was never the same... much like Tree House ... once they expanded to Charlton from Monson, while good.... the water is different and no longer small batches. IMO...water is key to every brew. If you have to build it vs having a great source you lose the character of the natural water.

There was a noticeable difference in color. Just by appearance, I thought your original guess was right. I just associate Banquet and Coors Light with a lighter color (and I'm completely wrong). Thanks for doing this. I always take tall cans of Banquet when we go camping.

I will take a MGD over both of those all day long. Yuengling and Genesee I think are better as well. I was in a market research study where they had us all blindly drink Genesee against Bud, Sam, Coors, etc. and there was over 50 guys in the room and we all voted and Genesee beat them all but a large amount every time.

That’s awesome! We don’t get Genesee or Yeungling out here unfortunately. I’d love to drink both. I’ve not seen MGD in anything less than a 30 pack here in years, either. People say it’s the same beer as Miller High Life (which I love) but not sure how true that is.

Actually, Schlitz tried modifying the recipe, ALA New Coke, and there was an unexpected side effect. In the 1970's most beer was shipped in unrefrigerated rail cars and trucks. They had not tested this part of how the beer would react when handled this way and what happened is the brew would precipitate out (sludge) at the bottom of the can or bottle. Schlitz resurrected the old recipe a while back , but the Clydesdale was well out of the barn.

I did side by side blind test these and found exactly the same thing. The coors tastes like... beer. And the bud tastes like beer but with a weird amount of sweetness, no hops at all, and a funny almost oily mouthfeel. They're 90% the same. But that 10% is hands down going to coors. I also did the light vs lite... Coors lite tastes like water. It's barely fizzy, it's not sweet or bitter or anything. It just tastes like drinking beer with covid. Coors lite tastes like a lighter version of a coors. Corn, rice, touch of bitter hops, and some metallic flavor that isn't great but not bad. I like high life too. Miller is pretty decent and right in the middle of bud and coors.

Miller Lite has been my go to this past year. I dig High Life too, but ML is almost always cheaper so I grab that 🍻

I prefer a high abv IPA for less bloat while out to dinner with my main squeeze but she wants me to try a lower abv for better staying power so I suppose I'll give the banquet a try. If Joe likes it I'm trying it.😊

Coors Banquet is decent for a cheap American lager. Watched an English beer expert do a test of I think it was 20 American lagers, and Banquet was #1!! Always been one of my favorites in that category. BTW, PBR was #2 in that particular guy's list. Also a fave.

Banquet is so solid, and I’m also a PBR fan. What really surprised me these past few years is how often Miller Lite wins when I do these blind tastings. ML is so good!

In my opinion, for flavor alone, banquet is better. However, on a hot summer day, budweiser is more refreshing and thirst quenching. Also, budweiser in bottles is cheaper than banquet

When you say residual sweetness I can only gag and think Miller. I swear they literally add sugar to their beer or something. I can never finish but 1/2 of a can before the cloying sweetness stops me in my tracks.
