Thank you for talking and showing the great cruise ship. Like the bow design. One question ❓ that I have. I heard that the side of the ship bar lounge type elevator is a discharge also for passages to shore. I got Married at SEA by the Captain ( Mike Molin) in 1998 on Grand Princess. The Biggest at the time. We did a 10 year anniversary cruise to Alaska. On ( Ruby) Princess. Same class, NO Skywalker Lounge. You are so,so right about night life excited younger guests. In 98 there were lots of younger people filling the Lounges. On the Alaskan cruise, there was what you experienced. I did like one big thing about Princess, on repeat customers ( lots of cruises) even in Horizon Court ( all you can Eat) the guests that cruise a lot, have a crew member with them, refills on coffee, clear their plates. Just pamper them anywhere on ship, always a crew member with them to get drinks, any personal service. I don't know if other cruises do that. I did notice that you pointed out the view BLOCKAGE from that exterior side of the ship elevator BIG stick out on the side. What say YOU my cruiser friend should We stick with the Princess or try this ship or the other higher class NEW vessel. On a side note. The Captain let us take wedding pictures on the bridge, underway. He did a Personal tour on the side wing control station. I will never forget those photo shots. ❤ Your work on these videos is very detailed on the important things for cruisers guests to see.

I was on the Beyond 2 weeks ago and it was maxed out. It wasn't an issue but i will say there were multiple incidents involving bad behavior of older people. Verbal altercations with other people and we were almost run over multiple times by the elderly on scooters. The worst was someone running their scooter into the hall of mirrors going into eden. The shattered a portion of glass and just drove off. I had to report the damage. I have never encountered so many ill mannered people over the age of 65. Im in my 50s so im not a kid.

Your video was incredibly informative. Celebrating my wife's birthday on the Beyond in March was an amazing experience, and we were truly impressed with the exceptional service. Captain Kate was fantastic, cruise director Luigi was exceptionally energetic, and the waiters and cabin maid, as well as the entire staff, left a lasting impression. We particularly enjoyed the Eden cafe. It seems there is a higher proportion of older individuals on board.

I enjoyed Apex and am going on Ascent next year. For me it’s the laid back atmosphere. If you’re a person that likes lots of scheduled activities and frenetic energy, you might be disappointed.

I went on Beyond in February, and it was my first and last cruise ever! To me, this was not a premium or luxury vacation at all. The food lacked seasoning and flavor. And was just nasty. I expected far better given the cost of the cruise. The premium Wi-Fi wasn’t great at all. I think it cost somewhere around $250 per passenger for our cruise. The age demographic was 65+. I have honestly never seen so many wheelchairs, scooters, and walkers in one place. We had two medical emergencies. One which required us to sail back to Fort Lauderdale in the middle of the night. I didn’t go to pool or any shows as there were just way too many people sick on the cruise. From the moment, I got on the cruise, there were so many noticeably sick passengers, coughing, and hacking constantly. I got Covid as did the other people I was traveling with towards the very end of our cruise. This was the worst travel experience ever for me and celebrity didn’t care.

Omg this sounds awful! But, you may have just had a bad ship. We went on Royal Caribbean Serenade of the Seas from Tampa in March. The age variety was a good mix. No one seemed sick. I didn’t see anyone coughing or look sickly. Very few scooters. Food was pretty good. Wasn’t like 5 star food but good enough that I gained a few pounds. Service was top notch. I’m gluten and corn intolerant and they made my meals from scratch for me. Good sail away party with Reggae band. Good shows at night. One of the best cruises. Clean. I’ve taken 5 total.

I did a celebrity cruise around Xmas break last year with a buddy. While I loved the ship, staff etc. There was very little groups of people in their 20s. Time of year may have played a factor. I think brand awareness also. Most people my age haven't heard of celebrity. Great video ! On your ship did you see a lot of things for kids to do? Planning a family cruise next summer, i personally prefer celebrity to RC/Carnival but I don't recall seeing a lot of stuff for kids on my celebrity ship. We will have a 6 year old with us and I'm worried celebrity might not have enough for her to enjoy as opposed to RC that has over the top amount of kids' stuff

Celebrity is in a class of its own, a sweet spot among cruise lines for those of us who want the style and sophistication but without the serious money and stuffiness of something like Silversea. Some of the best food I’ve ever eaten land or sea was on a Celebrity Cruise.

I really enjoyed your review of this ship! The cabin you showed, with the enclosed balcony area reminded me of the juliet balcony I had on a river cruise earlier this year (which was amazing - everything on 2 floors!) I really liked it. It is important to me that the 'included' food retains its quality (after covid) as I have seen other reviews of Royal Caribbean that reflect a reduction in quality and choice.

Hello Justin! Excellent vid! I believe the " hip youngsters" don't have or are not willing to drop $6k or more for cruising. Youngsters under 40 yrs? Cruise lines are typically catering to 40+, right? On my Virgin Cruise, I saw more 50+ age passengers. Our age group typically wants to just get there; fly, book Air bnb & keep it moving. What do you think? Cruising for some is an acquired taste.🥰

Ive cruised dozens of cruises on Royal, I did a couple Carnival (fun, but deff not for me) but 5700 for a balcony room is like 2.5 royal cruises! Can't really justify that, I think it attracts the older crowd because they know alot of people wont pay that and it wont be as wild...

I think the port time issues is due to the lower cruise speed of the edge class ships. As an example the solstice class ships make Puerto Rico in 1 full sea day from port Everglades with a 8-9 am port call. On our last sailing on apex it took over 1.5 days to get to Puerto Rico with a late afternoon port call.

I really enjoy your videos, J! We took our first Celebrity cruise back in May and loved it. We had Retreat Class cabin (think it was called the Royal Suite, maybe) and the service was the best we’ve ever had on any cruise line we’ve cruised. The night life (as you said in the videos) was a little lacking but I think that was more due to the size of the ship (not as many venues) as larger cruise ships. We’ll take another Celebrity cruise next May in Europe for two weeks and (also Retreat Class in a Royal Suite) and will have the exact same cabin number as we had on this past cruise. Food, service and shows are the best we’ve ever had on any cruise line. Have fun in Europe this summer!

Very excited to see your review of the Beyond as we will be sailing on her this fall for a European itinerary. I had to chuckle at your buffet review. The two of us traveling have done a few high end (as in Wynn, Bellagio, and Caesar’s) buffets in Vegas and finally realized the buffet thing is not really for us. We want all the love and attention to go into the meals we order. We may try the buffet once during the cruise but are looking forward to Blu and Luminae as our main dining and have already booked 3 highly rated specialty restaurants. I’d guess that’s why Celebrity put so much thought into their sit-down dining and let the pizza and buffet be less important. I like pizza but I don’t seek it out on a cruise.

This was a very thorough review. I enjoyed it. I agree, Celebrity has great food. Unfortunately, I haven't sailed on celebrity is over ten years. I will be back. Now I seem to be a Holland America kick. They also have excellent food. I am afraid that if Celebrity purposely goes out and tries to attract a younger crowd, the elegance of the ship will be wasted and the experience for guest will change. As I recall, Celebrity still maintained some formality and many younger cruisers like to be less formal.

It's not just younger people that like to be less formal. It's most people in society. I prefer the HAL Rotterdam to the Edge ships. HAL has the Music Walk and nothing like this is on Edge. HAL has Crow's Nest and nothing like this is on Edge. Celebrity has deleted their signature areas and made this some sort of Retreat specialty ship in the top front of the highest 3 decks and it doesn't even have an observation lounge with large windows. The service style is formal and there may still be some formal and informal nights but there's an emphasis on extra cost features all over the ship and especially an almost excessive choice of "specialty" dining venues. Every ship has them but the Edge takes them up a notch or two.

We're millennials/xennials and we dressed to the 9's for every occasion on Celebrity. I saw most younger people make an effort to get glitzed up and try to have some drip. It was the boomers who were always wearing khakis, jerseys, sleeveless tanks and beachwear, especially boomer dudes who couldn't care less.

Thank you for this review. When I get a chance, I would love to try out Celebrity as I am a fan of Royal Caribbean and want to branch out to other lines. You are current, the ship does look elegant from the reviews I've seen. One day, I'll make it to the Beyond. I'm in my late 40's and enjoy a vibrant ship with a youthful feel to it but ultimately, I book based off of itinerary. Going to try my first ever Holland America cruise this summer so hopefully, I won't be bored during the 4 sea days (19-day Mediterranean cruise). Would love to see a review from you on HAL. :)

We are 70's but not quite dead. We both love the sophisticated Edge class ships. The Apex is my favorite, but we love the Beyond as well. Carnival has a lot of youngsters..

performance workers on cruise ships have some of the best jobs. they make more money than the service staff and work less. friend of mine worked RC and made 7k/week only working 4 hours a day. the rest of the day gym time, eating, relaxing, socializing, etc. being service staff on RC or any cruise line is brutal though. they work you to the bone and it's not easy. but that's most of life. if you're specialized you make much more money and enjoy life.

I'm a cruiser. My wife and kids started in 1998. My kids were 11,10,and 5 years old. We started with Carnival and tried others. Essentially we frequented Carnival. (We're Platinum soon to be Diamond) our children don't go too much with us anymore (grown, own lives)but we've only had one bad experience. We went on one of those inexpensive cruises and immediately we knew it was a mistake. Now I'm not a prude but I did not expect anti-social behavior. There were multiple fights, the Marijuana odor was insufferable and the language was completely ghetto. There was no dancing just discussing display of body language. Never, never again will I go on one of those again. Carnival just wanted to give those who are not too affluent a cruise. This is proof positive you can take some people out of the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out of those people. Incidentally I'm 66.

Great review! We sailed with Celebrity on a 7 night chartered cruise once in 2019 and thought their food was horrible. Hubby and I decided never again but, now I wonder if it was because it was a charter. Try Celebrity SUMMIT. The food is spectacular. Older ship….. but best food hands down. Best food on ANY cruise ship IMO.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but i felt the esthetic was very bland and boring. The ship doesn't look visually appealing at all imho. No color, no grand vocal point. Everything now looks square, gray and like a prison compound. Anyone else feel the same?

Oh man, we saw you cruising out when we were coming in on the Edge last week I guess. Was a cool nighttime pass by. We did suite class! It’s expensive AF but was the most amazing vacation I ever had. Was so awesome we booked Beyond suite class for next year (yes, expensive AF even more 😆 but totally worth every penny). The retreat is insane luxury.

J. The Beyond is definitely calling us. Haven’t sailed Celebrity since 92’ so it’s time. Elegant the right choice of word. Agreed comparable to Princess. Looks like I would like the infinite balcony. The raised jacuzzis are different. Fair review on the food. Oh no captain Kate. Next time. Find that odd that there were no announcements of where you exit the ships in port. Overall a good review. Thanks for sharing. Don’t see the comparison to Virgin so yes; a comparison video would be great.

Although I have not had the opportunity to take a cruise with Virgin (planning that next) I have cruises onboard Celebrity Edge and LOVED IT! I do disagree with the buffet review as we sailed Allure 6 months after our Edge cruise and hands down preferred the buffet on Edge but that’s just my personal opinion. ☺️ I also tried to pause on your captain and it looked a bit like Captain Demetrius Kafetzis . He was the captain of Celebrity Apex and his brother, Tasos, was captain of Celebrity Edge. They will be our captains on Ascent!! See you in December!!!! 💙💙

After your cruise was when Celebrity started cutting back on the buffet, but at dinner only. I never do the buffet at dinner anyway, so I really don't care. Next cruise up for me.....Edge! Barcelona to Rome for 12 nights in a Sky Suite. So excited!

Just went on the Ascent for my first cruise ever and had an incredible time, I imagine for any cruises in the future i’ll stick with Celebrity or higher end Royal ships. Great video, love how easily you convey your points.

THIS IS SO WEIRD FOR ME. I have NEVER been on a cruise and honestly............ I don’t think I ever will. I am DEATHLY TERRIFIED of 2 things........... Heights and the ocean. So of course if for some reason I HAD to go somewhere ACROSS AN OCEAN I guess I would take a cruise. If there are cruises that you can go one way on?!? Anyway back to my point I have gotten ADDICTED to this channel. Jay is just so freaking entertaining and his breakdown of the cruises is fascinating. 👏🏻😅 KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK MAN. We were on this cruise also, think I saw you in the Grand Plaza once. We love Beyond and have a couple more booked on her in the next 18 months. While I t i k the dinner buffet has been cut back lately, I think the layout and overall quality is full better than Royal, especially Oasis class which is a real chore to maneuver.

We were on the Norwegian Sun with NCL at the start of April 2023 this was right after they slashed their entertainment budget and stopped doing “broadway shows” what we were left with was a string of guest performers and the in-house “ show choir” with their review shows. I did like the old school set up of the Stardust theater the seats were incredibly comfortable !
