Watching you and your mom's adventures in Alaska made me smile. You two reminded me of my mom and I when we went on our first cruise together (she had been on two previous cruises) I was amazed with everything. Those memories you made with your mom will last a lifetime. I was fortunate and blessed and thankful my mom and I were on three cruises together before she passed....those memories still make me smile.

My daughter goes to University there. Rent is a LOT! $1800 and up for two bedrooms. It’s an expensive place to live. We are over in Vancouver and it’s spendy here too, but hey no health insurance bills. Minimum wage is $15.75 but it’s still tough. If you got in a house along time ago you are good, if not, ugh. We were lucky our house for $600k and now it’s $1.6 million. You can get a three bedroom house in Victoria for $800-900k though. It’s a lovely place to live though.

I thought it was just me, but I really enjoy visiting the local residents neighborhood too! I got to ride through the poorest, to middle class, to the rich neighborhood in the Bahamas and that experience stays in my memories……

I love Victoria.. I lived in Vancouver for 14 years now east coast FL).. and I used to work at 'Timmies' so I understand the attraction. I'm heading out there next week and Tims will be my first stop! I also agree Smokes has the best poutine! So glad to see you both had a fantastic time.

I know a lot of folks who would rather dine at the Windjammer for the majority of their cruise than dine at the Main Dining Room or a specialty restaurant. I get it. I’m so happy your mom enjoyed the cruise. I have cruised for many years now, but it was more convenient and more comfortable for me to eat in the Windjammer (this was before Anytime Dining and multiple dining options). I often cruised by myself. I do hope your mom will get many more opportunities to cruise. It was a joy to see her happiness at each port. Best of luck on your new assignment.

Victoria is my favorite place. My husband and I would love to retire there... but you heard the prices. The thing about the island, though, is it costs a FORTUNE to leave. Want to pop over to Vancouver? It'll cost you a couple hundred bucks. I truly love it, but once you're there, plan to stay there. Oh, and don't be fooled by the weather. YES, the sunny days are AMAZING. But most days are not sunny. There's a ton of rain.
