The biggest reason I like watching your videos is because of the amount of fish you guys catch each trip...we catch plenty of fish down here but not like you guys...think it has to do with the overall population of the fish up there...I can confirm at least from my experience that noise will shut them down...be it boats or my least favorite cast nets...you can catch them steady for hours and some guy throws a net near you and it's over!!! For at least half an hour....next time you make it down this way in the winter I'd love to show you Sebastian inlet if you've never fished it...it's really good...

I tried the blue fuze 6” grub yesterday from the package and they are way softer then the older colors in the same packaging. I hope that berkley isn’t using a new formula that makes them softer for us to lose them quicker. The fluke were tearing the blue fuze up where the nuclear chicken lasted much much longer.

I've also noticed that the newer gulps are getting softer...maybe a strategic change of the material by Berkeley to make you buy more?? something to think about...

Funny you mention the tub versus package being softer or stiffer than one another. I refuse to buy the package gulp unless it’s the only thing available. Especially anything with a grub tail, like mullets, nemesis, etc. Some have been so stiff in the packaging that they don’t have any action at all. Even some of the jerk shads have been super stiff. I’ll sacrifice durability for action any day. The softer the better IMO. Great videos as usual!!!

@JohnSkinnerFishing4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely to some extent you can filter out the sea robin and seabass hits and not set on those. It's really important not to waste time reeling those fish up, especially in deep water.

Works the same I'm a huge flounder guy, thats all I fish for. I don't use ducktails or gulp and I kill them. Use my own grub lures and it's not to many days I go out I don't hit my limit. You just hav to know how to locate the fish and how to work your lures to get strikes.

Another GREAT video sir. Always enjoying your videos and commentaries, great learning dialogue to the students of amateurs such like I. I do have a couple of statements/questions if you will, the color of plastics that you use and most effective, would that color of waters be a factor on productivity. Reason why, here is the Gulf Coast on the shores of Galveston, Tx. the waters tend to be more murky in contrast to your clarity of waters there. Y’all have much clearer waters. We tend to use more of the darker colors here such as chartreuse with black, chartreuse with pumpkin seed, occasionally white with chartreuse and pink colors in the mix. Also, have you tried or heard of the new bio degradable plastics called “Bio- Baits?” From what I have seen and observed, they are becoming quite popular in their productivity of catching fish. What are your thoughts?

John, a little advice please. Planning a “party boat” trip into the bay for fluke. Fishing in 25 to 35 ft deep water. The boat captain says we will need from 5 oz. to 8 oz. sinkers if the wind and tide are in the same direction. How could I possible use one of your fluke rigs with that much weight? Any suggestions ?
@JohnSkinnerFishing5 жыл бұрын
No thicker than 15# braid and I doubt you'll use more than a 4-ounce jig at those depths. Many people still needlessly using 30#+ lines that create more drag and require heavier weights. I probably have 20+ videos on the channel jigging 3-4 ounces in 70 + feet.
