Very interesting for me. Your Blackfish are similar in habit and habitat to our Eastern Blue Groper here in NSW, Australia. Our Groper grow bigger but are also heavily structure oriented and eat a diet of crustaceans. The most common rig in my area is a small running ball sinker directly down to a size 2/0 to 5/0 hook. I'm curious to try your jigs as an option. The hook point riding up on the sea bed sounds like it could save me plenty of snags.

GoPro can repair a corrupted file. Put corrupt file into camera and turn it on with a charged battery. The gopro should recognize the corrupt file and ask you if you want it to repair it. This happened to me before when my camera ran out of battery while filming.

While it’s obviously not a guarantee, it’s good to hear that you didn’t lose any jigs, as that was my first thought about this type of fishing. I’ve also found that these jigs catch fewer bottom weeds than others I’ve used - likely due to the hook position.

Hi John, I am looking to buy reel and rod for black fishing on the surf as I do not have a boat. I would most likely fish from the shore, just like yourself in this video. Conventional wisdom say get a tall rod, so you won't get stuck, and then there is action/power, etc. I do not fish a lot so, all that information confuse me. Any recommendations on size of rod and reel? I live in the Northeast - Awesome videos! Appreciate it.

Mr. Skinner. Had my first beach stroll along eastern LI Sound this past weekend (don’t want to spot burn), pebble beach, rocks, etc. Saw a lot of small lobster tails. Enough to make me wonder what’s preying on them? Seals? Bass? Tog? I’d say tails were from 1lb & smaller lobs. Thought you’d have some ideas. Thank for any reply.

Hey John great video. I'm going out for blackfish on the outback in the morning down here in Barnegat bay where there isn't a single rock big enough to fish except for the inlet jetties.
