Hey Maki! My parents are deaf so I grew up learning ASL and I would consider myself fluent in it. This year I started learning Japanese and I've had a ton of fun with it. I then decided to take on the task of learning JSL as well and it has been far more enjoyable than I could've imagined. The sad thing is there isn't many good resources to learn JSL. Please continue to make videos!

That is a great video! I'm a foreign teacher in Japan and I work with the intercultural center. I feel is essential for everyone to learn basic Japanese sign language.

I know this comment is old, but I just got my next year's assignment schools for my job (teaching English). One of my visit schools is a school for the deaf! I think the students are only partially deaf but I want to learn some very basic JSL signs that I could use to connect with them a bit more and show them that I care! Do you have any good resources for that?

Thank you for making this video. When I was an exchange student in Japan ten years ago, I joined the community sign language club to learn Japanese Sign Language. I forgot the basic sign language and so I looked for tutorials like this in KZbin. Your videos are by far the best I have seen.

Maki, thanks for putting out these great videos! I would like to know two things. 1. Good JSL signs to use at university in Japan, and 2. If you have recommendations for places to learn more JSL here in Kyoto. おおきに!

This was great! I had to slow it down a lot (first day trying to learn JSL... no ASL experience), but the front and side angles really helped me. Thank you! I'm going to try to learn JSL alongside improving my Japanese. Wish me luck. ;)
