I like Frank Gore a lot. Really good RB. But here's why he's not a HOF IMO. (No shade, all facts). Gore was never the best RB in any single season. I don't know of any HOF player who wasn't for a time considered the best at his positions. Never lead in Rushing yards, TDs, yards from scrim, nothing. Finished 2nd once, with the best LG in history blocking for him. Was a top 10 RB only one other time in his career. That's right, most of his career he's never been a top 10 RB. He's one of the worst short yardage & goaline RBs I've ever witnessed. His TD totals are bad. This is really the only thing I could say he's bad at doing. Gore is very good at everything else on the football field. Elite - no. His best season he ended it with 10 rushing TDs, and never cracked double digit TDs again in his career. In comparison, Sean Alexander broke the record with 27 TDs in Gores rookie season. HOF RBs times with 10+ TDs: Jim Brown (5 times), Walter Payton (5 times), Barry Sanders (6 times), Emmett Smith (8 times), Earl Campbell (5 times), Eric Dickerson (5 times), [Frank Gore (once). Times Gore lead the NFL in yards: Zero. Times Gore lead the NFL in TDs: Zero. Times Gore lead the NFL in Yards per carry: Zero. Times Gore lead the NFL in all-purpose yards: Zero. Literally has never lead the NFL in any statistical category, in a single season. I once proved my next point to my friend. We went out to the grocery store and asked random strangers who Barry Sanders is. 9 out 10 knew he was a pro football player, and almost all of them knew he was a RB. Literally 1 out of 10 knew who Frank Gore was. You can tell the story of the NFL without ever mentioning Frank Gore. That's not a HOFer. Still, he's a very good RB. Solid. A pro's pro. And I really like him.

@Wade Kingsbury If he stays in the league another 2-3 years he has the chance to most definitively move to #2 on all time rushing record in history that = HOF. I mean #3 should get him in anyway.

he's gonna pass barry sanders on the all time list. and that game better be televised or I'm gonna be disappointed that I wasn't able to see it live. Frank Gore accomplished something that I didn't think would be possible. he got me to love a running back more than roger craig. aside from his unbelievable running ability, he was surprisingly good in the pass game and his pass blocking oh my gawd. sometimes he'd see a blitz coming presnap that he'd just ignore the play fake so he could pick the blitz up in time. I will never forget the moment he ran up to a blocker, stops does a squat cause he got to the whole too fast then bursts forward for like another 40 yards. dude was poetry in motion

I always appreciate how he had near perfect speed control. He just knew when to take off and when to slow down with his blockers. Frank won't tell you that Willis was better than him, because Frank was better than Willis period. Willis had a better college career behind a all-time great offensive line that left for the NFL when it was Frank's time to shine. But I remember when Frank and Mcgahee were battling for the rushing title in high school, and Frank won that by a landslide, even though Willis had the better superior team.
