The fact that this man is STILL playing is a testament to his greatness. Clinton Portis once said Frank was the most talented among him, McGahee and Davenport and after the career he's had in spite of the injuries, that might be true. Never get tired of run at 0:56. The vision, the cut, the acceleration, the finishing speed; Frank was ridiculous as a freshman.

It's weird to hear him described as a speed back when he was a freshman. Then I remember he tore both ACLs before coming to the Niners and likely lost a half step or so.

Only a handful of great running backs would cause you to focus directly on them with such intense clarity that it seemed like they were the only player moving down the field. His speed and power was perfectly turned into complete precision that was a joy for all football fans to watch.

The most pure runningback of all time. Possibly the best* I put an asterisk for a reason. Gore is number 3 all time in the NFL in rushing. This includes 5 seasons with the atrocious colts and jets who had zero offensive line and were rebuilding. They also had zero receiving threats. During this 5 year stretch, he only averaged 3.7 yards per carry, but for his career, he averaged 4.3 Yards per carry To put another thing into perspective, Frank gore tore his ACL twice in college and fractured his hip as a pro. Another thing to note, Clinton Portis was VERY talented during his time with the broncos. It’s arguable that Willis Mcgahee was better than Portis, as both of their playstyles were suited for the NFL, except Mcgahee was just better. They all played for the same college team at the same time During gore and Mcgahee freshman season at Miami, they both had nearly the same amount of Carries, with about 65 each, but Mcgahee averaged 4.5 yards per carry. Gore averaged 9.5 yards per carry. Portis started, but he “only” averaged 5.5 yards per carry.

*_I swear, if he'd stayed injury free he had a chance to be the best running back ever. Literally ever. Pick a name and yes I mean better than him too. Look how long and well he played despite a plethora of injuries since college smh. And btw, I put Bo Jackson in this same category. The discussion would start and end with those two. Not Jim Brown or Marcus or Walter or whoever. But those two. With a legit honorable mention for Adrian Peterson and Maurice Clarett._*

It’s a shame he got hurt; he was better than McGahee as a freshman. Gore had better moves, great power (although not as big) and great speed (but probably not as fast as McGahee); but when you put him on the field he was the better back.

Gore has NEVER been fun to watch, but consistent. To me, he's a less talented Curtis Martin. Both weren't very exciting to watch, though Martin was more exciting in the NFL than gore, but they both were consistent over time, hence why they're in the top 5 all time in rush yards
@trinidad5104 жыл бұрын
Negative, Gore was way more exciting to watch than boring ass Curtis Martin and was more talented. I watched Gore every Sunday for 12 years, I think people only think he was boring because they didn't get a chance to watch the Niners play every week
@meka_nomics96554 жыл бұрын
@@trinidad510 no I watched plenty of Gored games. He had no moves, wasn't electric. Didn't have very fun runs to watch. Wasn't the kind of guy to make cutback runs n make something out of nothing, like a Barry Sanders or lesean McCoy or Adrian Peterson, ladainian, marshall faulk n so on. I put he and Curtis Martin in the same breath BC of their longevity, but Martin Def had more exciting runs, though they both weren't speed demons. I'm a former runningback and I dissect the way backs move n see. Vision is the most important thing. From what I've seen from Gore in college to the pros, Def not very exciting. Watching Curtis Martin from NE to NY Def a more exciting runner to watch with spin moves and cutbacks, more of which Martin did than gore in their times in the NFL
