One of the thing i noticed in "Golden Abyss" is that in every Chapter, Characters will sooner or later eventually say a current Chapter Title. For example, when you start a Game, Dante will say, "I'm telling you it was Drake.", and then Prologe Chapter Title pops up, with words "I'm telling you it was Drake."

I think the one thing Golden Abyss has going for it is it's the only game in the series with gyro aiming, which I vastly prefer over pure twinstick. It's nowhere near as good as it could be because it runs at 2 frames a second, but it's still a more fluid feeling of aiming than anywhere else in the series and it's fun to imagine what could have been if the game ran at a vaguely playable speed (well I guess we have mouse aiming on PC now but still)

I love my Vita, and I'm not even an early adopter. I got a Vita after they were already basically dead. I think it's a great console for many reasons. The indie library on it alone is worth owning it for, especially when you add in the PSP library and PSOne classics it can play. It's a portable Sony legacy system. But it also absolutely had many killer exclusive games. I love Uncharted golden abyss - more than the first and third PS3 games in fact. Tearaway is also fantastic. The Vita version of Little Big Planet is also the best one in the series IMO. Wipeout is amazing. Killzone Mercenary is almost a reason to own one on it's own. Soul Sacrifice, Gravity rush, Unit 13, Modnation Racers, Freedom Wars, Resistance, countless JRPGs. The list goes on. Some of these eventually made it to other systems well after the fact, but they were Vita exclusives when released. Some like LBP, Killzone, and Uncharted still are. It certainly had it's problems, and it absolutely could have used more AAA games, but I've never regretted picking one up, and I still play it regularly.

This is a huge misattribution to think that vita failed not because it had ridiculously overpriced proprietary memory cards and the price tag itself but because of something else. There wasn't a lot of games on it precisely because it was overpriced and people didn't buy it. Failures have their greatness others have their issues but no failure = bad and not redeemable to some people too stupid to know better. As if it's 0% and 100% it can't be an in-between for whatever reason. To me it's clear many are good and have great features, good games just not good marketing, impact or an audience over expecting western third party games too much so you get dedicated fans that follow it and have a better wider view. With a goo first party lineup, hearing Persona 4 to death and other notable games the Vita had it's place. But as people barely even understand Remote Play either with the PS5 Remote Play video not surprised.

I bought a Vita around the time it launched and logged many, many hours on it. There's a lot of games on it that I personally like. Uncharted Golden Abyss Gravity Rush Soul Sacrifice (my personal favorite) Freedom Wars Muramasa Persona 4 Golden There are some really amazing games on here. But it does not even come close to any of Sony's other offerings. The Vita lacks variety in its library. It mostly consists of JRPGs because that's what kept the system afloat after that first year or so. All of the exclusives that aren't JRPGs came out in that first year. It really feels like that Sony had the opposite approach with this thing compared to Nintendo with the 3DS. When it wasn't an instant success instead of trying to support it and do damage control they stepped back and did nothing to help it. I doubt they could have done much to go against the 3DS, but it would have definitely not been nearly as bad. The lack of games really is the nail in the coffin for the Vita. People complain about the memory cards, Sony talks about how mobile phones hurt game sales for handhelds. BS. I don't doubt that stuff factors in, but it's not enough to kill a system. Look at the 3DS it did amazing despite mobile phones. And I'm sure if there had been more games to play people would have sucked it up about the memory cards. In the end why do we buy consoles? Currently, some of the best use for gyro isn’t for boats or balancing, but for shooters. Touch screen, we’ll actually, the usage hasn’t really changed, rather the things you used it for in the game were too simple and unnecessary. But, honestly, I liked their mindset.

I think a big reason the Vita flopped was that it was either ports like the Sky and Jak & Daxter collections, or games like Golden Abyss that tried to emulate a console game on the Vita. Golden Abyss should’ve been something like ‘Escape From Dead Island’ that had a different art style and gameplay style from the flagship game ‘Dead Island.’ If they had done this, the gimmicks of the Vita would’ve meshed much better with what the final product would’ve been. Alas, the ambitions of ‘X game but on the go’ was a big part of what made the Vita fail in the US.

For someone that only had a PS2 and Nintendo lite getting this with my vita was amazing. I thought it looked good for a game and actually loved the game. Its so nostalgic to 12 or 13 year old me.

Ig i am one of those people that not only really liked my vita but also liked golden abyss and how it used the functionality of the vita. I enjoyed using the touch features as it was something different than the uncharted games thati had played on the ps3. to each there own

How did you get through the section where you need to use Vita's back camera? Did warranty breakers make a plugin workaround for that?

Sony should've stuck with the UMD disk format with the Vita and made it backwards compatible with the games and movies available on the PSP...silly Sony. P.S. I'm still disappointed that they didn't include Golden Abyss in the Nathan Drake Collection. They def could've successfully ported it with a little work because the PS4's Dual Shock 4 controller already had the capability to use both motion and touchpad features.

I heard in another video on KZbin that the 3DS had the same rocky start as the vita but the difference was Nintendo decided to fix/work with their mistakes while sony decided to basically kill the vita for the ps4

Even though most of the games are now available on other consoles, I still enjoyed the Vita for letting me play stuff like this, the Danganronpa series and P4G (and to a lesser extent Dancing All Night which is easier to access the game without buying the Endless Night bundle for the other dancing games)

In a few years this should be playable on android phones via vita3k, on PC obviously the game is playable from what I've seen, but graphics, audio, and probably lack of gyro might affect that.
@woldemunster9244 Жыл бұрын
Dualshock 4 has gyro? I use DS4 touchpad on linux as a quick mouse substitute, gyro for cursor is a bit too much. :D You can use Steam controller mapping to use every function DS4 has for any input you can imagine.

I never got a chance to play this game because I never owned a Vita and I sure hope that one day we can get a Remake or Remaster of this game with better controls and it could maybe look good as Uncharted 4 but considering how the series is over and we will probably never get another uncharted game I guess it will never happen now but you never know

I watched a let's play, playing the whole game before I eventually got mine and the game years later. While Tearaway and Gravity Rush are on PS4 and did use Vita functions my guess is those game didn't sell well or they thought it was too much effort or Bend had to focus on Days Gone the whole time or something. No idea why it never got ported. I guess is the trilogy remaster filled that spo so why port something they had of a PS3 engine to Vita game and bringing the Vita game up to the TV wasn't worth the effort or core mechanic changes would be awkward and lose their charm/purpose. I doubt they wouldn't make another Uncharted they want to use as much of their current IPs (maybe Last of Us stays the priority for a while instead who knows) and not legacy ones as possible this gen and make remasters of PS4 games on PS5 because their idiots and casuals don't know what backwards compatibility is.

Speaking of the Vita another thing about it was that it had its share of PS3 ports. Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, ports of the Jak Ratchet and Sly collections just to name a few.

I cant recall where you started doing half (ish) of your review videos with gameplay and then other half of face to face But i gotta say i find the shots of your sitting at your desk talking at us extremely awkward lmao Not trying to be rude at all but theres something about the lighting or framing or something that does work with me. It also feels like youre just reading off a teleprompter instead of talking casually Just thought id give some very late feedback on that. I personally preferred the videos being mostly B roll or gameplay. Though im someone that doesnt particularly care too much whout facecam in videos , to be fair Still really enjoy the videos either way!

Ok now P4G is multiplatform but it took in the area of a decade.. I’m def disappointed Sony dropped the ball with Vita by not supporting like they should.. However I have no regrets asking my dad who’s no longer with us to get me it for Christmas 2012 instead of a 3ds.. I had a ton of fun with it, had a pretty good collection that played great and I even use it still to this day.. It’s primarily because of Golden Abyss that I’m a huge Uncharted fan because Uncharted 1 did not initially hook me at first.. Also certain games I feel work better on PSV due to the touchscreen elements like Walking Dead & Dragons Crown.. Moreover in its prime it could even function as a mini pc as you could surf the net and use all the apps like Netflix & Hulu.. So in ways it was far more diverse than the Switch Oled I’m using now.. There was really no loss for me being I picked up a 2ds dirt cheap granted much later

My biggest memory of this gsme was planning on a train and reaching a part where you need to see a secret message by holding it to light. Except you don't do it in the game, you do it in real life. However, the light on the train wasn't powerful enough, so I couldn't continue the gsme until I got home

I like the ps vita more than the switch. It has good enough power and it's easy on the hands. The joysticks aren't directly underneath the d pad and buttons. They're slightly offset, combined with the rounded edges which made playing shooters quite comfortable with good accuracy. It's also small enough to fit in your pocket. You can't even put a switch lite in your pocket. The vita was ahead of the times.

This game was demoed at E3 2011 alongside the ps vita. It was the only game Sony released that made the vita worth purchasing. It wasn’t enough and the price was just too high to justify its purchase

Ah, the PS Vita...great awesome system. But it sadly came out at the wrong time right when mobile games were starting to ramp up and it pretty much killed off the handheld systems overall. And then the Switch changed that in such a way.

Man if Sony did not have a falling out with capcom, p3rdu and 4 would've been great on vita. Plus sony should've made its own souls game on vita.Toukiden series should've been made as portable nioh.

Coming from 1-3, I didn't find the touch and gyro intrusive at all. And I HATED compulsory DS Stylus and Wiimote waggling The payoff in this game comes when you see all the gold at the end of the game

I’ve played this so many times over the years, i’ve had a Vita since around I turned 13 in 2012 and have a lot of complex emotions about it. Overall i love it and own two plus a Vita Tv. Seeing people jump on the bandwagon in the last couple years has been so weird

Ps Vita has a lot of great hidden gems you are sadly stuck digging for. As a fan of rpg's and more niche weird stuff, its a dream system. Hacking the thing is also fantastic, being able to play psp games with ease that way increases the value proposition immensely. I think the single biggest thing that killed the system was nintendo getting exclusivity to monster hunter. Monster hunter kept the psp competitive with the ds in its ladder years. But capcom went to the 3ds for monster hunter 3U and 4 and they couldnt recover.

I wish they could've tied the characters in or used characters that tied in to the main series but I love this game , especially for the time this is a well done uncharted game that gives me everything I like about uncharted games , felt like playing drakes fortune for the first time ... only complaint is yeah the touch screen qte is kinda meh

Anyone managed to play the 3rd birthday on the vita ? . I played it on the psp and thougt it was a really good game . Sadly its not availsble in the store and the library is smaller now but can still find alot of games if you just search rather than going through the highlighted list. Would love to see a retrospective video of the 3rd birtday on the psp 👍

The Only Vita games I know well are Gravity Rush (Who's sequel is my second favourite game.) and Persona 4 golden. (Ironically its sequel, specifically Persona 5 royal, is my actual favourite game.) Played both on other consoles though so that speaks to the sad state of the vita.

I remember being excited for the PS Vita right until they announced the proprietary memory. That's when I knew this whole thing would be a disaster. They got away with not using SD cards on PSP because MemoryStick wasn't a PSP only format, other things used it. You had third party companies making MemoryStick, there was competition in the market. But with PS Vita having its own memory card format that no other device on the market used, with Sony being the only company selling PS Vita memory cards, it was of course going to be an overpriced disaster. And I sure wasn't wrong. Even as PS Vita was dying, even after Sony gave up their revival attempt that was the 2000 model Vita and the PS TV, memory card prices stayed stupidly high. It kept me away from the Vita until they had the reasonably priced bundle with a white Vita, a memory card, and Assassin's Creed included. And even then, it was a waste of money. Assassin's Creed sucked, I didn't even keep that game. And of the very few games I do have for Vita, I'd only ever go back for 3 of them: Tearaway, Uncharted Golden Abyss, and Killzone Mercenary. Everything else is on other systems and better there. So many PS Vita games were just terrible versions of console games, there's no way I was going to mess with that. Cross buy and cross save were good ideas on Sony's part, so you can buy a game to play on console, take it on the go with Vita, come back home and pick up where you were on console again. But when the Vita versions are so drastically inferior, I would just wait until I got home again to play. It never really made sense to me, either. In consoles, Sony was praised for the PS3 using standard 2.5" hard drives while Microsoft gouged people on the same hard drives but incase in overpriced enclosures with proprietary connectors for all variants of the Xbox 360. But then on a handheld, Sony goes and follows Microsoft's playbook instead of using the industry standard SD cards which would've matched their own PS3 strategy. I've heard "security" but I highly doubt SD cards would make Vita insecure. They were generally good about keeping PS3, PS4, and PS5 secure while they were active, and this is despite the standard storage format used. Security is a bad excuse if you ask me.
