I'm in the process of re-watching Criminal Minds and I had forgotten how wonderful the soundtrack was. I remember looking for this song at the time but I couldn't find it. I'm so grateful I found it all these many years later. During the current state of affairs around the world, this still has relevance which makes it a classic. Everyone has gone through some heartache, or they will, and these lyrics aptly describes the feeling of isolation, and has felt like they wish someone would just listen and understand. This song was created for all of us in those moments, and we have been heard!

I was empty. I thought if I moved away, a new life would find me. I searched and waited but my past just followed me: like a shadow. I moved to UIUC and I found Christ. He gave me meaning and that is what matters. I took and threw many punches as a young man, but never for the right reasons. I fought to create chaos. Christians tell me I will get eternal life, however, I couldnt care less about that because the greatest gift Jesus gave me was actually living. I mean, I was a live and walking around before but I was as empty and dead as road kill. Right now, life has never been so hard, but it has never seen so optimistic. The happiness I had drinking, humping, etc did nothing but cast me deep into the shadows. Truly, a darkness with no light anywhere. I dont write for my story to be heard, because it was heard the day I found Christ; I write because I know this was a song I played after the party ended, and while everyone was going home to sleep, I was going home to drinking alone. I hope some kid sees and understands that its true no human will come to rescue from the deeps of h#ll, but I am confident Jesus will. He will shine a light to a greater future and I pray you find it because he cares and so do I.
