It's always tempting to compare like this... personally I hear a lot of Max in this one. If one had put so much time and effort into developing style and vocabulary of such substance only to be constantly compared to a similarly talented predecessor it might be a little dispiriting. The comparison is obvious given the range and flexibility of his talent, his choice of a slightly jazzy superstrat + tubes tone etc... anyway blaze on brothers.

@@robosing225 Not at all. Phrasing is when to play notes and when to not play them. It's where and how to incorporate notes into the rhythm. Think of phrasing in speaking or communication. The way you say things can vary greatly depending on the situation. The same with music--the way you present the notes--from the order to their intensity and the order in which you play notes based on what's being played around you can greatly vary from one player to another. Max has a very good understanding of what and how to play; that's what makes his phrasing really shine.

To add to that, that's like saying, "Enough of Dan Fogelberg's fingerpicking"! It's like, um yeah, that's why people listen to him--and the same goes for him--there is so much more than fingerpicking going on. He's singing, strumming, harmonizing, etc. etc. These people are professionals which is why we're on this page commenting about it. Don't like it? Move along--they'll be fine without you. I discovered EVH in 1984 when I was 8 years old. It changed my life for decades. I discovered Max last year at 46 years old. Same exact feeling. Max does what no other guitarist can. He plays what we want to hear. Lol
