I totally agree with you. I don't believe this resort to be a luxury resort, but it is nice. I had a problem with the fact that birds were on the buffet. That's unsanitary. Your large bed was two beds put together and looked uncomfortable and out of place. It could be better.

We’ve stayed at Riu in Cabo and I agree the food is ok. I grew up in a what was considered a low income city in Los Angeles so this place was awesome. Not having to worry about extra fees was cool. We did get some higher end liquor by tipping and asking the bartender if he can hook us up. They always did and we always tipped. The service was great as well.

I love Mexican all-inclusive resorts! Love that they are truly all inclusive-- for the most part no 'special pay' restaurants or bars on site, Internet, mini bar and basic amenities all covered. Sometimes even includes room service. Great value if you do your research and pick a good resort, and lots to choose from. Love San Jose del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas and Puerta Vallarta in particular. Had amazing stays with delicious food and wonderful staff people.

Try the Riu Palace properties. Rooms are a lot larger. (Jr. Suites) The food offerings were a bit more upscale and they offered premium liquors in the rooms and bars.

I stayed at RIU Palace Las Americas in Cancun . It was beautiful. I liked how all the beverages was included in the little refrigerator about mid week, I had a refil on the sodas and water, lol. Not much of a drinker, but did enjoy a beer or two. Took a Ferry to Isles of Mujeres, WOW that was quite an experience. rented a golf cart and went to Putna Sur. Loved it, would go again.

We've stayed at the RIU in Ocho Rios and the Bambu in Dominican Republic. Not 5 star but better than being at work. We love Playa Del Carmen. We even went to Coco Bongo night club which was fun. We stayed at the Royal Hideaway for our honeymoon. Good luck with your new adventure.

What do u except this is the cheaper resort everyone can’t afford to stay at The Palace. Last year I stayed at Riu Guanacaste in Costa Rica it was nice. Great shows nice club and friendly polite staff. Next month I’ll be at The Riu Palace Mexico. The good thing about Rui resorts you can visit multiple Riu resorts on the property.

Hey J. Been seeing Riu a lot. There resorts seem nice. Loving the pink accents in the lobby decor. I see very nice. Not luxury. No elevator is 👎. Your room is not luxurious. It’s standard. But I’m sure they have upgrades to mini and full suites. Liquor in the bathroom definitely not luxury. Or a shower door that doesn’t close. Good point that someone that wants luxury; price not an option. Thanks for sharing J.

Holy crap. My wife an I had our honeymoon here in 2009. We both ended up sick for most of it unfortunately. The staff was amazing. Drinks were always amazing. Food was a miss, and the pool was pretty nasty. Too many nasty people in it so we stuck to the beach. Also, we were moved to 3 different rooms, and the a/c never worked. It was always hot.

We have only did 1 All Inclusive and it was in Cancun and the food was just ok and food is important to us. They had limited amenities. We’re looking for one with excellent food and all kinds of fun amenities

I've stayed at the RIU in Cancun, Mexico. The grounds were gorgeous. The room was nice but the bed was hard. I enjoyed the food and the daytime activities they had. It wasn't much but it was nice. The resort you are in is okay for people who are on a budget but want a vacation. I don't like the bathroom at all. It seems worn. The entertainment...well they need a lot of improvement! I do like the grounds of the resort. I will be going to the RIU in Aruba using a resort for a day. So far I will stick to my cruises. I see my bang for my bucks on cruises, even if I was on a budget!

I went to a riu in the DR, I spent like the cleanliness, outdated rooms, no wash cloths, watered down drinks and food being left outside in the always. However, the staff was kind and we didn’t have a big price tag.

Great video Jay! I am loving this new series. I stayed at Riu Kukulcan in Cancun which was amazing. I went to Riu Las Americas to use the beach and have lunch. Being able to go to multiple hotels I think is great.

We stayed at RIU Palace Jamaica, and the 30 people who went with us loved it. We thought the grounds were nice. We enjoyed the food and entertainment. I send my clients to RIU because the price is good for middle class and all-inclusive is a great option. There are better resorts but the price gets steep. And lower priced resorts don't seem as nice. Jay you do very well with your videos. 😃😁 I am very happy that you're living your best life and wish you continued success

We stayed at a RUI in Cancun a couple of years ago. I think it was much nicer than the one you just showed us. Staff was incredible and their buffet was actually pretty good, mind you 2 years ago. Their specialty restaurants not so much, I actually got food poisoning at their Italian restaurant, stuffed portobello mushroom. We were day 3 in of a 10 day stay. Didn’t start feeling better until 2 days before we left. Missed out on a lot.

We just left RIU Latino last week. It was definitely a step up from here. The updates were great but the food at all RIU resorts seem to be the same 5/10. We paid 180 for a romantic dinner that was amazing (steak, lobster, lobster bisque, fruit salad and chocolate cake). As a middle class person, it was good to be affordable. Luxury…I don’t think so.

I’m by no means a snooty type person but I do NOT consider that room as Luxury or Luxurious. It looks like your average nice room. Luxury rooms to me would have a couch and basic living room area and a small kitchen. A big and beautiful bathroom with big bathtub

As someone who grew up like you but had Grandparents that hated my father and took my mother and I away to places like this when I was a child, this is what you would expect from an all-inclusive we used to stay with the Jack tar Village group of hotels that were much the same in the 80's

I was just at the Riu Antilles in Aruba, I hope you are going there too! I had a great time! I suggested that they buy the Vitamix type blenders for drinks and I hope they do by the time you get there! Its was good for what people are looking for regarding vacation as it seems its designed for people to go OUTSIDE and enjoy the beach, which everyone came to do 😀😀

It’s an organized practice you head out of the airport and you either have set transportation or they can set up a cab/van to your resort. It is safe and reliable been there a lot. I am a travel advisor as well.

Seems more like a 3-4 star location, not a 5 star luxury hotel. But, as you said, seems like a solid middle of the road kind of place. The beach looks great, I think I’d be there every day.

I don't feel like RIU is luxury, but is a very nice resort J. We went to the one in the Rivera Maya. There was a super tiny elevator that took me up one floor to my accessible suite. Their was a very convenient ramp on that level that went right down to the pool area and a ramp that went down to the beach.

I’m sure this resort is nicer than some you could find yourself at but my main concern was all the animals in the open areas, like the eating buffets. Did I see a few birds on the food prep area? I’m not sure about this but maybe all resorts are open like this? Thanks for sharing

Rius aren't luxury, but more entry level to an all-inclusive experience. You have all the basics and pretty much guaranteed a good time and fun. The new Hotel Riu Palace Aquarelle Jamaica will give a luxury feeling.

To me, and I have worked for both a tour operator and a travel agency, that Riu seems more like a 4 star resort although star ratings are far from standard and depend on the individual country.

To answer your question, no I would not consider this a luxury resort. I’ve only done two AI’s though so not a lot to compare to. I’ve been to Dreams in Los Cabos and the Valentin Imperial in Riviera Maya. They were both beautiful.

I do believe that luxury all-inclusive resorts exist (eg - Royalton), but RIU is more upper-mid-tier, not luxury. They're decent enough resorts, but don't really hit the level of "luxury".

I wouldn’t say lux. Italian, Mexican and Asian food is pretty inexpensive to serve. To me, luxury would have seafood and steak. I agree, midrange and great for middle class families. Just a Little extra money to spend once you pay. Nice for relaxing.

Is RIU luxury? No. Is it clean and fun? Definitely. I've stayed at Riu party hotels like Riu Reggae, Riu palace baja California, and Riu Republica. It's a great time, especially for younger people under 40.

I stayed at RIU in Negril Jamaica on a spring break like 20 years ago while in college- was fun .. but not luxury. But then again we went to Beaches Negril in April 2023- paid like 10g for a concierge room over spring break. Definitely wasn’t 5 star either. The best food was pizza- which I was kidding.
