All my baking is done in my only oven, a roughly 1.3 cu.ft. countertop combination microwave that's probably approaching 20 years of age. It's got four Quartz heaters (two for broiling, two for Euro convention), a calrod below the turntable and even a rotisserie. Of course, over here it runs off of mains power and can draw 3.1 kW. I wouldn't attempt a Thanks Giving turkey in it - but everything else work just fine. Also, if you ever find the time, I'd love a tour of this fever dream of showroom that you have. 😍

People over here are obsessed with the size of their ovens. 🤷🏻♂️ DM me if you’re ever in the Washington DC area and would like a tour of my showroom. 😉

Thank you so much for this! From what you've shared, we now know we don't need Miele. We initially wanted to go with one of the GE 240V speed ovens. However, we crossed them off since we want to install the speed oven under counter. (The GE Advantium 240V ovens, including Monogram, are not approved for use under a countertop.) I feel like Jenn Air is our choice, after watching your video. Can you tell us if the newer Jenn Air speed oven has easy, simple controls when using as a microwave?

Very good and thorough video! Any future videos that would include Signature Kitchen Suite-brand appliances? I've heard a lot of good about them, even though they are still fairly new to the market. Any insight or opinion on this brand would be welcome! Also, in your opinion, has the quality of Monogram stayed consistent since Haier took over GE appliances? Still mulling over ideas for my kitchen upgrade. Thanks!

It would have been great if you listed the model numbers as a point of reference.

I have a Miele dishwasher from 2005. Still working perfectly. Can't say the same for my KitchenAid convection/microwave. I'm sold on the Miele H7870 BMX in grey glass. But I've got a couple of questions. One is installation. The product info on the Miele site list the min AND max width of the speed oven at 28 and 5/8" under "technical information". But if you download the "Instructions and Installation" pdf from that same page, on page #103 it shows the cutout to be 28 1/2"; which is the cutout I have. I need to know in advance if I need to a bigger cutout and a call to Miele.usa was not helpful "we don't do installs; call this vendor". I called and no one answered over a couple of different days. My only other question has to do with reliability and service (I'll by the Miele extra warranty). As I'm far away from D.C. (where I *think* you are) I'd gladly pay for a consultation.

@@MikeO-dr7hn It is a 28.5 inch wide cutout. They tend to be very reliable as long as you take good care of them. 😉 The quality and ability of service varies depending on where you live. I’d recommend reaching out to their tech support line and see who services that area and see if they’re competent.

@@appliancesexplained Thank you; your prompt reply is much appreciated. I'll assume my 28.5 cutout is big enough then. I will indeed reach out to see who services the area. Assuming that is good; I can't wait!

For me one of the most commonly used functions is the quick 30s microwave and then following up with some quick 5 or 30 second adjustments. Try that from a cold start on the Thermador. Atrocious. First you have to press the on button and wait for a splash screen and a low quality sound. Then navigate to microwave and then adjust time and start it. Didn’t time it but it’s something so basic that a lot of microwaves do right.

That’s pretty annoying.

I apologize for several responses. But I just re-reviewed this video and at 4:50 you simply grab the door of the Miele speed oven and pull it down. I ask because I have been trying to decide handle/no handle. Pushing a button and waiting does not appeal to me; but if I could just pull it down - problem solved. Is doing that practical when the oven is hot? P.S. I did call Miele and reached a very nice human who told me who the local warranty repair person was.
@appliancesexplained3 ай бұрын
Honestly (IMHO) it’s a bit of a pain not having a handle. The button thing is annoying in that it’s mostly responsive when touched but not consistently so. I eventually learned that I could pry the door open like you saw in the video but it requires a decent amount of finger strength. I actually thought about mentioning my irritation with the design in my reply to your last comment but was in the middle of 10 things. 😬

@@appliancesexplained Thank you for the replay. The information I've received from you has been more very helpful. Went handle-less due to the ovens placement. Ordered and installed. Could not be happier. Your explanation of the difference with the microwave inverter technology. It works as described. Lower power; no stirring required and no fluid loss. AND extremely quiet. Thank you!

can these mini speed ovens go below an induction cooktop on the lower part cabinet of an island ?
@appliancesexplained2 ай бұрын
@@keska01 It depends on the brand. You can check their installation instructions to be certain though. I believe I read somewhere in GE’s specifications that the Advantium could not be installed below an induction cooktop but it’s been a while.

does the monogram have elements on top and bottom ?
@appliancesexplained2 ай бұрын
@@keska01 I believe it actually has quarts heaters at the top and halogen heater lamps at the bottom of the oven.

My 40 year old Amana Radar range allows me to vary the wattage. This is nothing new.
@appliancesexplained3 ай бұрын
@@stanleynowak9325 Panasonic introduced the technology in the late 80’s and I’m fairly certain they weren’t sharing it with Raytheon at the time. If you set your microwave at a lower wattage it’s probably just cycling the max wattage on and off over the course of your cooking time.
