Man...I'm drooling at the thought of what his bassline would have been for this.

Way out there. Not surprised he didn't dare put it out on Ram. Would have been bollocked by the critics all the way to Mull of Kintyre and back again. Which is a pity, because Christ was he ever ahead of the game
@Michaela_Foktova12 жыл бұрын
well well, maybe it´s a pity that Paul was so hardly touched by the harsh (and wrong) critical response to Ram that he formed Wings and progressed towards pop music. Even John could be impressed by this rocky number :( Shame on the critics :(

WHAT AN AWESOME SONG! Blistering is the perfect word to characterize it. The vocals on the 4:20-4:33 bit are amazing -- but really, who am I kidding -- the entire track is off the chain.

I had no idea he later gave this song to Roger Daltrey. He renamed it "Giddy" on his "One of the Boys" solo album.

I think for RAM he had several musicians on hand. Dave Spinoza on guitar and Denny Seiwell on drums... clearly Macca is playing guitar on this one... sounds like a power trio jam here!

@ter521fad i have to disagree, and say that monkberry delight is still the better song.. and that paul is a pretty good judge of his matieral.. considering this song was also still pretty undeveloped and whatnot.

@HuysMusic We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. This song may sound undeveloped, but McCartney has released some undeveloped sounding material before. Remember Mumbo and Bip Bop?

roger daltrey giddy Search above to hear the song, won't let me post the link, takes a while to hear the bit. Doesn't really work in the Daltrey version, too fragmented, another great singer though!

The fact that "Monkberry Moon Delight" was included on the "Ram" album instead of this once again proves that McCartney isn't always the best judge of his own material. It'll be a major disappointment to me if this isn't included on the "Ram" re-issue. Nice to hear some real energetic drumming on this from Denny Seiwell, an original member of Wings.
