Loved hearing you speak about farm being in your family for one hundred years. Mines been with us 129 that i can prove. Something about being on ground that you know your ancestors were on doing pretty much the same things your doing. Awhile back was standing in frt of old homestead at sunset and i was suddenly about 12 and could see and hear my grandpa coming up the section line road on his wc allis tractor, no muffler, no lights, spitting fire out the exhaust, trying to make it home before dark. He farmed with 40 year old equip as I do, but I still do the same job in half the time and effort.

He never bought new or thrower anything away. One of the reasons I like watching you the other is I like old Massey Fergerson tractors. I found a 2745 I would like to buy but I am not a mechanic. I used to have a 2705 and a 3545 a 135 a 275 and 285 a 699 running John Deere now dealer went out business. Grow up on Massey. JT don't overthink the engine removal out of the 55. Those bolts that you can see on the side rails that hold the engine skid down to the body rail, are all the bolts, these engines did not have that amount of torque to require any extra bolts hidden inside, besides of which that is only light sheet metal which wouldn't add much strength. I have pulled these engines out of the old square and round backs and they come out in one nice power unit with radiator intact. They did this to simplify installation at the factory, the power units were dropped in complete, all that was needed was to hook up the control linkages. The only reason there may be extra bolts in the body sheet metal was because someone did that later in its life, which I doubt.
@jtsbarnngrill68739 күн бұрын
Right on! That is 100% spot on. See the next video lol

That is a remarkably straight combine, surely some of the panels, rear discharge hood, pulleys and final drive etc. must have a value to someone?
@jtsbarnngrill687314 күн бұрын
I’m sure someone could use something from it. But honestly most of it is rusted or shot
@Slane58315 күн бұрын
The combine may be pooched but there's still some good useable bits left on it. I bet all of those belt pulleys and drive clutches could fetch a few bucks. Especially for someone who's actually restoring a 55. Sometimes finding good pulleys that aren't half shattered is tough. Those front rims also look like they're still useable. If the transmission is any good it might be worth something to someone. Either way. Maybe you can find another square body Chevy that has no engine and make that Deere engine fit. You can have a pickup for yard use so Black Betty doesn't have to get dirty. :)

JT, just wondering if you have ever considered doing hay? The reason I ask is because here in the UP, I have a friend that has a few handful’s of beef cattle. He makes hay for himself and always makes lots more than he needs. So of corse he sells the extra. He says he could sell as much hay as he could produce. And says that’s what will make him the most $$. Just a random thought I had, since you have all the horses in the stables already. Got the haul trucks as well. Couple more pieces and the puzzle is put together. Something to ponder.

My trouble is if iv got room to keep I don't scrap it. You just never know. I just still see lots off parts on it you could ues. Well hopefully you get it out with not too much hassle. Most of the time the steering wheel and center cap are great for old Deere tractors because they were protected. Sometimes the seats are good

It’s amazing we have more snow than you do .just watch that forklift on that ground and when you lift that engine be very carful I drove forklifts for years and they tip over really easy .and don’t forget the WD40 for the bolts
@jtsbarnngrill687314 күн бұрын
Bingo! You are right! It’s always a good idea to be careful on the forklift.

Being 13 year old kid I’m pumped to maybe get out the snowmobile massy Ferguson 444! I found it in my grandpas shed and I restored it because of you! Thanks again for being my favorite KZbinr and I will continue to watch you and look up to you!!

Maybe if you get that engine out, and she will start and run. If the rack comes out, weld an axle and springs to it and somehow it could possibly be converted to a portable generator if the power goes out? Could be your next challenge??
@jtsbarnngrill687315 күн бұрын
Right on! Definitely be a challenge!
