This is more of a personal cooling apparatus, I'd say. It would also work great in an RV if you sectioned off your bed with a thick cloth curtain of some kind so it only cooled that small area.

Also to keep in mind running from a power station, many of them don't have high amp DC plugs and will limit the cigarette lighter port to about 130w. So these smaller stations will need to use the inverter to run it.
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Someone could make the equivalent of the Max Current Cable from Goal Zero (which I hear has been discontinued), and merge multiple outputs from a power station into a single pair of heavy gauge wires, wired into a converter. But this is an advanced project for sure to make sure all wiring and connections are adequate and will not melt down, and that there is no circuitry or other limitations built into any particular power station that would prevent this. Otherwise, as you suggested, inverter is the way to go, thanks for the tip.

@@Polymathicus The thanks is all mine with the great info you provided here. I think one of these would be great for my car camper getting through those hot and humid nights. Agreed that rigging up the wiring and hoping the internals can take it is a little risky for most people. My Ecoflow Delta Mini shares the cigarette port max wattage with the DC ports as well so no cigar anyways.

I just bought one of these and living in a very humid hot part of Texas, I use it like you said as a spot cooler, I go night fishing a lot and the humidity is so high you just sit and pour sweat, not anymore with this and the light comes in handy camping in a tent or tying a new hook on things like that. As long as you keep an open mind and realize this isn’t going to cool a big space you’ll like it. I also sit mine in the bed of my sidexside point the hose at the back of my head close my windshield and drive around my neighborhood on these 106 degree days, I’m enjoying it.
@isntimportant
@isntimportant 2 жыл бұрын
If SWEAT is your issue then you need a $2 fan. If HEAT is your issue you need an air conditioner. This, however, is not good at either. Where I live summer peaks 130F. Humidity isn't an issue. It's dry terrible heat that'll strip the soul out your body in a day if you don't carry enough water. This is NOT a good alternative. It's weight and requirements to make it run are way out of spec for a single camper. And it's not good for vehicles compared to built in vehicle air conditioners. Air conditioning doesn't work by shoving the output hose on your nipples. That's not a functional air conditioner.

We replaced an old Dometic in our 36 foot camper (vented). kzbin.infoUgkxDDbPbIlwLRcX_ntp51ui5UMtAUGpHYxE The install was a simple swap, all holes lined up, the electric plug back in with no trouble. Getting it on the camper was the most "difficult" part of it, and my friend made it look easy. I've seen people "sled" them up ladders as well though. I watched a KZbin video for instructions, very easily done. Some say it doesn't come with instructions, but I found the instructions under the ac in the box. I didn't need them, but they were there.It works well to keep a 36 footer comfortable, all by itself. It doesn't seem to be any quieter than the original, but it isn't any louder either. We're very pleased with it. Esp with the ease of swapping them out.

Most comprehensive review yet......well done. Yes a spot cooler.....not a space cooler. I use it in my semi truck to cool me at night....not the space. A key thing I learned (videos at my channel) was to try and achieve no 45 to 90 degree turns in the intake and exhaust hoses.....plus keep those hoses as short as possible. I am not getting the hours out of the Mark 2 batteries but they are working with me to determine if it's the batteries or the unit by exchange.....so great CS so far. Bottom line it's an amazing technology and I will not look back either. Cheers to using it as it's meant to be used and sharing a real well thought out review!

How long does each battery last? I’m in hotshot trucking and I’m between buying this or a generator with a small ac unit. I’m leaning more towards an ac unit with a generator because of costs but the mark zero breeze looks more convenient and takes up less space I was just wondering how long each battery last on economy setting?

After that disappointment I went went back to hanging a window unit out my rear window. I have a large dog that I have to keep alive. The first model of this I knew wouldn’t work because they literally suck in air. Now that I have seen this improvement. I’m going to give them a shot. I think the zero breeze is a neat device (had to try not to say "cool" haha). It is what it is, a tiny phase change ac. "Tiny" is the key word, expecting too much from it is like expecting a single $150 6k btu air conditioner to cool an office building.

That’s great to know. For RV’s with a bedroom that has a door and can be isolated, would it cool an area that size, say it’s big enough to accommodate a Queen size bed, and has the shower on one side, and water closet on the other. I wish I had a better idea of the Square footage, but my cousins live in theirs, thinking this would be a nice gift from our family to them.

Thanks for the review, i am looking to put this is my boat cabin. It is very small. Maybe 7 feet by 10 feet. Just big enough to fit a queen size bed for camping and to crawl in. The walls are very well insulated and there are no windows to let in heat. Could it really cool that space properly? Thanks for any advice. I live in south Florida and it gets hot. I will also mainly use this at night.....unless the kids take a nap during the day.
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 жыл бұрын
Larger spaces are difficult and that size is much bigger than Zero Breeze rates the Mark 2 as far as cooling capacity. However, many online have great success cooling spaces at night, and if you are in an adequately insulated enclosed space with both hoses coming out the back routed to the outside then you have a chance. Just need to keep in mind that bodies generate a considerable amount of heat, so if you're putting several in that space you have a 2300BTU air conditioner trying to cool the air and fight the heat generated by the people.

15:28 Why would you need to replace exhausted air if you're running your intake indoors and your outtake to the outside? Isn't that considered recirculation? If the intake hose is bringing in air from within the vehicle and expelling it outside, the air inside should be cooler than outside. This unit can't take air completely out of a closed container. There's no way. It's not a vacuum. Cool air should flow throughout the enclosure from the fan circulating lower temps and if consistent should make the zero breeze work less.
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus Жыл бұрын
Re-circulation implies a closed system. So if I'm sucking the inside air and blowing it outside the I've broken the wall of the closed system and I am indeed creating a vacuum, not a strong one as you say, but you are without a doubt then sucking hot air from outside into the vehicle through every crack it can find to "fill the void". In my case it is SO hot inside and out, that I actually found that to be a benefit to vacuum out the inside air (which gets hotter than outside) and replace it with the slightly cooler outside air that may be 98 degrees instead of 105 inside. My rule then was, if the inside is cooler than the outside, both hoses in the back go outside creating a closed system inside. If the reverse, I suck the inside air out.
@ckryegrass11
@ckryegrass11 2 жыл бұрын
So the short answer is NO it will not cool your car.
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 жыл бұрын
Correct, if your car is 105 degrees inside and being beaten down on by the sun, there is no way a 2300BTU AC can overcome that heat load. But I can sit in that same car all day and not drip a drop of sweat while it's blowing on me. Cooler, shaded, or night time conditions......much better chance of cooling the space.

I'm just really surprised that after a year you haven't tried using reflectix to insulate the intake/exhaust pipes for the condenser loop. All that heat is coming back into your vehicle. Plus reflectix on the windows will reduce the amount of heat coming back into your conditioned space. Some folks have used LDPE foam behind the plastic interior panels to further isolate the conditioned space to great effect. With all the windows covered during the summer and the Zero Breeze, it can actually be comfortable instead of just bearable!
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 3 жыл бұрын
I actually have custom made reflectix shades made for all windows and use them while working on at least the sunny side. You're right, they work great. I've got fabric glued to each side so as not to scratch my tint, and sewed a binding around the edges so the fabric wouldn't separate. Although as you said it cuts down A LOT in heat load coming in from the windows, it gets so hot outside in full sun that the headliner is almost too hot to touch so most of my heat load at that point is coming in from the roof. So, I agree that insulating the exhaust hose would help prevent the addition of more heat, but insulating that foot of hose (in my case) is like trying to put out a structure fire with a squirt gun. But for most non inferno climates, you make great suggestions that I fully agree with.
@MannyWC
@MannyWC 2 жыл бұрын
@@Polymathicus Why does the intake hose need to be from outside? I can understand the exhaust needing to be vented outside. But bringing in 'cooler' air from the inside seems like it would allow the inside of vehicle to cool down just a tad bit more.
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 жыл бұрын
I think I might have answered you in another post, but if someone else reads.....I personally use in a vehicle that's much hotter inside than the outside ambient temp so outside is cooler for me. Also, if you are pulling inside air through the condenser coil and then exhausting it outside, you are creating a vacuum inside your space and you'll need to replace that air you're sucking out somehow, and that can only come from....outside, but now it's going to heat your newly cooled air. So if you start with outside air and end the condenser loop outside, then you're not "spoiling" your hopefully cool air inside that you can then keep running through the evaporator coil and get cooler and cooler.

Agreed. I think they cut the holes so close though so that the filler will be universal and usable even if someone has a small window. If you have enough extra hose you could always run extra out the holes and bend them away from each other.

I agree it's not for everyone. It wasn't designed to cool a space being beaten down by the sun. The reason was to create an AC that can run on a small amount of batteries for hours. For the few like me though, I wouldn't trade it for anything, and I'll sit in that airstream all day, and I do.

go to home depot get longer hose that will fit the drain and in 90% of vehicle's have a drain plug in the spare tires compartment. pull that plug and run the hose out of it nothing to draining water. now the other bad thing to only using 1 hose on the back of the unit is when you need to have a window open for the intake your pulling the hot air in from the outside into where you want to stay cool vs no extra heat being pulled into the cabin of the vehicle. i used a portable AC in my camper while i was repairing the roof unit and no matter what it sucked because there was no way to put a 2nd hose on it and i had to leave a window cracked open and it would struggle to keep my camper around the mid 70s when it was only in the mid 80s outside. but with youtube i was able to fix my roof unit and been keeping cool ever since. also yes i'm a full time RV'er

IF you have a grand to toss around, its a cool (pun intended) gadget, however, there are way cheaper ways to get A/C where you want it to go. That Bluetti is a better purchase, that thing is awesome. For the setup in your truck, I have found that if you insulate the heat exhaust pipe, you can cut down a lot of the bleed back into your space. During a conversion at my house to mini splits, i used a floor stander AC. I grabbed a 6" Insulated jacket for the exhaust because that hose was very hot. Made a world of a difference.

Thank you for this video. Can you charge your battery while using the air conditioner?
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 ай бұрын
If you're talking about the Zero Breeze batteries you need to use their "Power Extension Dock" If you have two of their batteries they will stay charged up while plugged in. Only one battery, it will only extend it's run time. I have a separate video about it. Most other aftermarket lithium batteries will charge while using the AC.

You are waisting your time, if you dont put insulation on the exhaust tubes. The heat will escape back into the car.
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 жыл бұрын
In my case when it's 105 in the car and only getting hotter with the sun beating down, there's a point of diminishing returns when doing things like insulating a foot of exhaust duct. But, yes, I agree with you if someone is able to bring the temp down in their space then every little bit can help for sure.

Great invention however it really needs to be at least a 5000 btu and be able to hold 65 degrees even at 125 degree outside temperature that's what people want/need.

We all have different needs for sure. The Mark 2 is for those who want to cool the air and run on a reasonably sized battery all day or night.

Most Autos since 1980s have had AC as a standard feature. Does this machine work BETTER than the standard AC? The standard Ac also has a recirculating setting. Does bringing 90 degrees OUTSIDE air in work better than Recirculating?
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 3 жыл бұрын
The Mark 2 will not work as well as a vehicles ac. It's comparing a 2300BTU ac with a 20,000BTU ac. The Mark 2 can only recirculate. It always will be cycling the inside air through the evaporator coil and back out again. The hoses that go outside are only for the condenser coil in the back to purge the heat generated by the air conditioning process. Hope that helps.

I have an old Toyota pickup, could the unit be mounted the bed and just route the cold thru 4he rear sliding window?
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 жыл бұрын
The evaporator coil in the front end would be getting fed from the hot air in the bed though (the air getting cooled gets sucked in right below the cold air hose). It the unit is inside it would be recirculating the air as it got cooler. Also, some have reported issues with it not working while driving around and getting bounced.

I sent them an email asking them to send me one to make videos doing exactly that. Maybe they'll respond. I'm sure someone will have some videos up in short order either way. It's an interesting set of specs for sure. There's a line somewhere (a sweet spot) where BTU's and power consumption meet that make it useful for mobile/portable use. I don't think 4000BTU's is still going to be able to cool a space in the sun, and it's going to be a lot heavier with the batteries it's going to take to run that for hours. But it could also hit that sweet spot perfectly for all I know.

@@Polymathicus I HOPE they send you a unit. I would love to see your "side by side", i.e. same conditions with the EcoFlow Wave. This video was very helpful to me, though! I live in NW Montana and RV in the Northwest AND am a heat wimp! Fortunately, very low humidity and a small house (1100 sq feet) so am able to use 2 12000 BTU "portable" (I call them behemoth A/C on wheels) to cool my house helped by 2 fans to move air around. I do vent both hoses outside. I have been wrapping hoses in reflectix spiral wrap but it is ugly and tends to gap but I found a hose cover made for the purpose which works better. It does make a big difference as the exhaust hose particulary gets very hot. But, I get your previous comment about most heat in your car coming through the roof and I don't have that issue in the house. Bottomline, though, this video has made me adjust expectations and understand what a 4000 btu (Ecoflow wave) might do (small office and/or RV) vs the 12000 BTU's that I have. Thank you!!

I'm trying to decide between the zerobreeze and wave. I just got a Delta Pro for power and a couple solar panels. I'm hoping to be able to stay cool enough in one room of the house during the next power outage after a hurricane. I think I'll be okay with my fridge (trying the Delta Pro right now and I think it'll keep the fridge going for at least 24 hours without a recharge) but not sure about a portable AC and if the solar panels can keep up. I do like that the zerobreeze you can get two batteries and swap them out. I think you can charge the zerobreeze batteries on their own, not connected to it, right? The wave doesn't have a battery so I'd either have to keep it plugged into the Delta Pro or buy another smaller battery. Not sure if it will be that much cooler to be worth it. I'm new to all of this so trying to learn about what everything means and how it works.

Thanks, glad it helped out. I don't care for the heat myself. We have a 15k BTU on our 20ft RV and that thing struggles in certain sunny parts of the country during hot days. But I would guess the NW is a bit more forgiving.
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the size and conditions of the room. I think the specs on the Mark 2 said ~42 cubic feet of space is what it's rated to cool and that isn't with sun beating down on it. So, that's a very small space. There are cooling BTU calculators online you can use to get an idea of what BTU's you need. I thought I read that you can get an "add on" battery for the wave. Maybe I'm thinking of something else. and yes you can charge the Mark 2 battery on it's own. 200 watts of solar (in full sun) can run the Mark 2 without using battery for the most part. The wave, maybe double. If you're going to use at night however you'll need to make that up the next day so you'd have to at least double, maybe triple your solar wattage, depending on how large your battery is and how many days you'd have to run things. Good luck!

Stupid question but what about bugs entering the intake if you are camping? Is there some sort of screen or would I have to install one at the end of the hose?
@Polymathicus
@Polymathicus 2 жыл бұрын
That's actually a great question. No screen on the back end from the factory on mine. Bugs can't get in your space from inside there, but they could get trapped in the fins of the condenser coil and pile up over time. So, a screen on the intake hose at least, that is ported to the outside wouldn't be a bad idea. Even a piece of screen wrapped over and secured with a rubber band would take care of that.
