As a Jewish father, I tell my children that yes we are Chosen, but it's a double edge sword because we are held to a higher accountability for our actions as well. I believe that G-d has greater expectations for us, because we are his messengers on Earth. I also tell my children that doing what G-d asks of us does not come with any rewards, but rather we honour G-d because it's our obligation. When we live the correct way, that is the blessing G-d promises us in the Torah. I am Reform Jew, so most Orthodox would probably disagree with me, but this is how I see it.

Personally, I think that the abuse of both Jews and Asians come from the same root of envy and jealousy. Both groups place a very high importance on LEARNING, Family, community activities, charities, and have strong religious affiliation. I grew up in the Midwest. When I got to University, I began to note these two groups had remarkable work attitude about their classes, labs and projects. Both groups were high in involvement in charity work, sports, etc. I began working in the college library as I noted that they went their to study and prepare for their next classes and projects. I joined study groups with these great students and my grades began to get better and better. Both groups seemed to have a lot of fun and to achieve so many scholarships to grad school, so their approach also paid off for me.

Envy on a massive scale and manifested in various forms IS scary to deal with. If mismanaged, it brings out the devil in us. Even communist countries like Russia and China are envious of Israel - small and beautiful - democratic socialist nation managing its way that easy towards its goal of peace and development which could hardly be achieved but by a few nations like Singapore and Japan, also Taiwan (a province of China). If Israel can manufacture many handheld mirrors OR water (to drink or wash) and distribute these for free to anti-Semites, maybe, just maybe hostile feelings can dissipate. Who knows... I think that it‘s a good point that you can be proud of your older brother. That‘s the way I feel as a Christian towards the Jewish people. (Not all of the Christians believe in the replacement theory by the way.) I pray for your people daily and support them as much as I can do. The picture that is given to us in the New Testament is that of an olive tree in which the followers of Jesus are implanted; the roots are the Jewish people that carry us. However, it was commanded to us already by God in the Tanach to bless the Jewish people and that then we would be blessed ourselves (Genesis 12:3). I believe that the hatred aimed at the Jewish people and also at Christians all over the world (persecution of Christians has never been higher!) has ultimately to do with a hatred against God Himself and His plans. 0:10 What about the Muslims? Jesus told us to love even our enemies! (Matthew 5:44-45). So I pray for them as well! The Scriptures tell me that God has no joy of people getting lost (Ez. 33:11; 1. Tim. 2:4). Wherever we may come from, HE wants to have us in His family! 🥳 This is why I love Him so much: He took me in forgiving my sins because Jesus had paid for them all on the cross! As a young Christian woman, I have tried to get to the bottom of the question about anti-semitism. I listened, saw, and learned and I finally came to the irrefutable conviction that the main force behind anti-semitism was the green devil, envy. After October 7 this conclusion is discussed by all kinds of thinkers out there. Losers hate winners. As Douglas so rightly says, envy is a very toxic emotion. I was not around in the middle ages, but I understand that Jews were not allowed to join trade guilds or own land. And it was "unchristian" to be in banking. Therefore, Jews, by default, became merchants and bankers. And they networked with each other and more Jews around the world to acquire things to sell. Whatever far away countries they were in, they all spoke Hebrew, and they all had the same cultural rules, so they understood and communicated with each other. They were capitalists. The wholesale, retail, trade and banking careers that medieval laws forced them into made them rich. And today, they still shine in banking and commerce. This is what makes them wealthy. And they totally value education, which brings in more money. Other cultures would be wise to emulate the Jews. The Mormons are similar: they value education, and they network to hire and patronise each other, and they become rich. Jews and Mormons also value strong families. Just think if some oppressed group of people decided to marry and have strong families, make education a priority, and work together to build shops, the best schools, become doctors and lawyers, etc., and they patronised each other, they would not care if other people hired them or not because they could all hire each other. And their culture would be stable and wealthy.
