Pffffffffffff whatever people may say, this guy is an wonderful "opera alien" ! He knows what to do or not to sing with his voice. (He cancelled the next "Rigoletto" he signed for the year because he could feel that it didn't suite his voice for the moment. Don't say he's gonna gonna break his voice, he's smart and has such a talent !!! Bravissimo Juan Diego ! We'll talk about that in 15 years.

Fantastic, impressive. The Pavarotti version is still the best I will ever hear but Mr. Florez certainly has chops.

Pavarotti delivered a great sound but the visuals are better with JDF. I couldn't suspend disbelief enough to find Pavarotti fully engaging in a romantic or military role (except maybe Nemorino where the hero's attraction is in his naivete and sudden wealth rather than his looks), whereas that's not a problem with Florez.

Juan Diego is a great singer but to preserve his voice he should not sign these heavier roles. Leave them for lyrics, you are a leggero.

Agree. Translations miss a lot of the original - Even for its beauty and sonority, Italian cannot replace French originals - "D'Aldorf les chemins sont ouverts" - this you don't find in the Italian. Magnificent Juan Diego but he should not venture in dramatic roles, Rossini really went dramatic in Guillaume, so rossinian tenors should stick to Barbiere, Cenerentola, etc.

El Puritani le va bien, Rigoletto ya ha dicho que para el futuro, y el Tell ha dicho muchas veces que no lo cantará. Pero un aria suelta es una aria suelta, no tiene mayor problema para su voz el cantarla de tarde en tarde...

Going to comment again, this guy beats every single light lyric tenor I've ever listened to. Brownlee and Pav crush the notes, not effortless, Kraus and Gedda have "covered" and disconnected voices, Mateuzzi's tone is too thin for my liking...seriously, Florez is the best bel canto tenor in all of history. Maybe Rubini was better. But I doubt it.

@@rossini9mozart10 To say JDF ,or anyone else for that matter ,is the best bel canto tenor "in all of history" is dumber by far .If stupidity could hurt he would be dead now . In all seriousness ,how can anyone write such a thing? Did he listen to all bel canto tenors since dawn of the opera more than 400 hundred years ago and did compare them in all roles they have ever sung and come to the conclusion JDF is the best? .Whatever he imagines bel canto to be - many historians don't include the 19th and late 18th century in the period ,according to them JDF doesn't sing bel canto rep at all.

Canta muy bien, muy pasional pero para ser tan joven fuerza demasiado la voz sin necesidad, se entiende que el papel requiere interpretarlo con ira, pero empuja un poco la voz y esto le pasa factura con los años.....
