This team is different. They fought hard and went by their motto of playing a game 1 pitch at a time. They earned this win, and more importantly, restored that fire and hope in the fans with a historic 2 out rally in the bottom of the 8th. Can't make this stuff up. Amazing!

(My dear friend Mr. Smith who told me they’d make the playoffs in early May before they turned around would’ve cried today. He finished his journey on june 22nd this year waiting for a night like tonight) For one night, everything that always hurt us, went in our favor. One of my greatest moments as a dc native was this play because of the utter hopelessness we felt up until then. Those fans and the players that embrace them threw a party we’ll never forget. Look at all that beer and popcorn flying in the air. Look at the concourses shaking. Look at those smiling faces and look at those BROTHERS embracing each other. They really love and play for each other. I don’t care if they beat LA. They proved tonight that they’ve jumped those mental hurdles and are heading in the right direction with so much young talent.

The scouting reports told Hader to pitch high fastballs out of the zone , and so he did. The Nationals hitters were patient, rarely fouling off balls, letting the count on balls to pile up, in the meat of the order, and their patience got rewarded. Hader walked into a trap unbeknownst to him and his coaches. This game was reversed on strategy alone.

We were waiting for the big fuckup that never came. I’ll never forget this team. 95 years without a World Series in dc was worth the wait for moments like these and countless others. The best part is that strasburg and Soto have a five year window with a roster balanced in youth and experience to get a couple more. They know what getting past the ds is now. We told people for years that they could’ve been 4 time champions since 2012 and they finally proved it. Hader was erratic all season. The “bad” Hader showed up tonight, the guy who struggled.

@GFY45 HUG baseball is hugely generous with defensive errors...lose a ball in the lights? No error. Misjudge a popup or fly ball? No error. Bad hops and bounces aren't usually errors, either.

Hader was overworked during the regular season and was gassed

Well that’s one way to loom at it. I see an erratic Hader all season and then he falls apart in the 8th. HBP, Hit, BB, Hit. Struggled to throw strikes.

THIS base-hit is, if not, one of the most athletic plays in this postseason. Juan Soto is the GOAT.

SirMoeThe2nd not really he isn’t really the type of guy he would have stayed with the NATS if he wanted to make the playoffs they gave him a good offer and he just turned it down to get like 15 extra mil
