Too many people confuse feminism and misandry. They are NOT the same. Also as far as acting gay there no one way to act when someone is gay it’s simply a sexuality meaning they are attracted to the same sex. Just because you know people who act in a way that you perceive as “gay” doesn’t make them gay.

i agree with liz on the feminism part! But feminism goes way beyond just employment opportunities, but social, economic, and reproductive security/ safety. it’s truly sad to hear that some of the boys here have negative experiences with feminism and being “brought down,” and i hope that they are exposed to men and women who can give more positive insights to the movement and everything we stand for. i disagree that men should be brought down in the name of feminism because that would be counterintuitive to the idea of gender equality, especially because i believe that we should exert more energy into protecting and representing women in ther families, jobs, communities, etc., than bringing down men
@noeliafernandz2 жыл бұрын
I too was surprised when they responded from an economic standpoint, given the fact that feminism is much more than that. It might have to do with them being American and the education they received because of the country's mentality. Nevertheless, It's very insightful to see young people to talk about delicate topics, wether I agree with them or not. You could see they lacked the experience in life that other guests usually show just because they're older and have been through a lot more, but I appreciate their bravery to put themselves out there and be vocal about their views on the world. One of the things that I find interesting was the feminism question. Do I think feminism has gone too far? No. However, it is incredibly common for people to focus on the most extreme groups. I found a quote a while back that kind of helps me think better about controversial subjects: "Never let the actions of one judge the many." Too often I see people focused on the eccentrics of groups, not the majority.

If a girl breaks up with you just bc you cried she didn’t really love you. Being able to be vulnerable with someone and open is an important aspect of a relationship. Even if he is insecure, you work on that together to address the insecurities, you don’t break up with them. With the feminism question the truth is that most women and people fighting for feminism just want equality and aren’t trying to actively tear down men but in a world where men are still very much ahead sometimes men will have to be torn down to make way for women. I also agree that there are some people who take it too far sometimes but that goes for pretty much all groups. For example with the guy who said that people would put him down while hyping each other up, I feel like that shouldn’t be credited to feminism but rather that individual and many men do the same where they hype each other up and put women down all the time to a point where it’s normalised.

You know, it's interesting. From the experiences I've had with women, I've just learned not to trust them at all. I know sociopathic men and dudes who are complete aholes and yet I feel like, from my experiences, women are so much more manipulative, self centered, and apathetic. I was in a relationship and I always took care of her, even when I was actively working or in class. And ONE TIME, JUST ONCE, I cried in front of her. Well, she put me on blast online and completely misquoted me and made me seem like an ahole. Then, she cheated on me and she began crying when I told her that I was leaving her, even threatening to harm herself indefinitely. Second chick I talked to happened to come into my life after two family members died of mine. She was the only one to hug me, infact she would corner me and literally chase me to hug me. Eventually I fell in "love" and she used me, played me, lied to me, gave false promises, and eventually kicked me to the curb. And I know a lot of other really crappy women, some worse than my examples, that my friends have met and been with. I quickly learned that women, from my experiences, see men as a game/toy. We are to be used and thrown away. I tell myself it's not all women, but it seems like it's fan near every woman I know except my mom. Luckily, I like to think I'm more self aware than the average person so I don't hold anything against women. Nor do I see all of them in the same light. I try my best to be fair. But, now, I definitely walk with extreme caution. And that same caution, I feel like, will leave me lonely for quite some time. I'm around the same age as the people in this video, and I find it interesting just how MUCH an individuals experiences can shape their views and mindsets. This was neat.

I feel like the feminism As are misguided. I don’t judge any of the teens who think it’s gone to far but the way the one guy was saying “you need to put in work” especially rubbed me wrong just bc the whole point of feminism is that. Same work - same opportunities. Not same opportunities less work or no work. I find a lot of people seem to have a warped definition of feminism given perhaps some radicals in the group or the lack of education on the subject. Even though feminism has historically been only for white women it should be for equality and equity for all women
@anonomous51572 жыл бұрын
I also had an issue with that because women then and now have "put in the work" and most likely much harder than some of their other male counterparts if they're in a male-dominated industry or an industry where men have the most power (which is most jobs lets be honest) but they still would get paid less which is why women are given more opportunity with things but that still doesn't mean they have it easier even with more opportunities given to them.

I agree with your point, however, I will just give a life experience of mine. i worked in construction. It was 100% men. When the diversity in employment became mandatory we noticed women getting brought in to do the job with us. There is of course no problem with that. But MY EXPERIENCE was that these women would always get out of the hard work. They would be placed in the shade, with their water, sorting tools, or filling out paperwork, or operating the elevator, or hosing down the dirt (to prevent all the dirt from flying up in to the air) getting paid the same as the men who were in the sun all day, lifting hundreds of pounds, getting injured, sunburnt, etc. It's like their focus was more to get women in the workplace and pay them the same rather than actually making them do the same job. I am fully aware this is one experience and not every situation but I've also seen it in the trucking industry and mostly male dominated fields.

@@norceenhamdi how are me and women still not equal (no hate genuinely curious)
@blackdragonsaber79562 жыл бұрын
As a woman, highly disagree (talking about the USA, not Saudi Arabia, etc where it is still very bad for women). Laws are equal on the books for both sexes, ensuring equality of opportunity, which was the point of the movement. You can’t control equality of outcome. Regardless of how far feminism goes, there will always be a few in society who hold sexist views no matter what is said or done by the movement.

They did't say that society has gone too far for women, they said that feminism has gone too far and it's true, if the people who call themselves feminist had everything they ask for the society would be extremely unequal for men.

I'm probably walking on eggshells here, but alas. The thing I dislike about modern feminism in the West is that it expects females to be a weird female-male hybrid rather than giving them more choices. For instance, mothers are damned if they return to work after having a child (traditionally male). They are also damned if they don't return to work (traditionally female). In a way they are expected to do both which is an impossible standard to meet. Ultimately they will always fall short. On the other hand, males are still constrained to traditional male roles. He is expected to provide and to be a firm leader. He cannot be a stay-at-home parent and he certainly cannot breakdown and cry. Again, another impossible standard to meet if you want to remain sane. We probably need to ask ourselves if our quest for equality between the se>

I agree however I wonder if it is how people perceive the word feminism. If the question was "do you believe women and men should be treated equally" I would assume all of the contestants would have agreed. But maybe they had a bad experience with the term feminism because maybe there experience came from someone who wasn't properly supporting the movement, but that is their only experience.

yikes their comments about feminism really upset a lot of people in the comments. What you guys dont get tho: thats their perspective and experience. those opinions didnt come out of nowhere and calling them out instead of being understanding of why they might think that just adds wood to the fire. i am for equality (as far as possible, there are differences between men and women that cant and shouldnt be ignored), but i would never call myself a feminist simply because of the bad reputation that movement has accumulated throughout the years, especially in modern times.

This was soooo amazing to watch, I feel more open minded and I enjoy seeing a different experience. Also as a female, I grew up with my mom telling me not try cry and that I’m ugly to cry so don’t look in the mirror, as well as it’s shameful and I’m broken if I’m crying. It’s taken many years of therapy for me to realize that crying is natural and part of being confident almost because you are listening to your body and after crying you feel better most of the time.
