I like how they had the knowledge/awareness to use "light years" as a unit of distance. Many back in the 1970's mistook it for a unit of time.
@georgetzimas15412 жыл бұрын
Joan Baez certainly mistook it for a measure of time, when she sang "a couple of light years ago" in her now legendary "Diamonds and Rust". Subsequently Judas Priest had to reproduce this despite evidently having a good grasp of physics.

Baez used it fine. In poetry, lyrics etc it's ok to use rich language and imagination

I have been a fan since my early teens when Screaming For Vengeance and Number Of The Beast first came out. Other than my buddies older sister's Black Sabbath Master Of Reality 8 track, these were my introduction to metal. What was really cool was, for all the Priest albums and cassettes I bought in the 80's, I never had Sin After Sin. I DID have Unleashed In The East early on, but the one released in Canada didn't have Starbreaker on it. I found the cassette of Sin After Sin in the late 90's and still had a cassette player in my car. I was as elated when I found it as your post here sounds like you are about the song. Must have played it 1/2 dozen times in a row! It was like finding lost gold!!!Couldn't pick an absolute favorite, but it is equally my favorite among at least 1/2 dozen of their faster songs! Rock On Dude!!!

@@briansauer6695 Here in the States, Starbreaker wasn't on our release either....it must have been a European release if Starbreaker was on it. It's kinda like the album, Hell Bent For Leather. Released under that name here in the US but released under the title Killing Machine overseas. I have no idea how a copy of Killing Machine made it over here but I was lucky enough to find it either at a Flea Market or Yard Sale!!! All of the songs are the same, just a different Album title!! 🤘😖🤘

@@keithdarling8290 Starbreaker was on the Japanese import version. Had the chance to buy it on CD at the used CD store, but they wanted $30 for it. I think there was only one extra song other than that and couldn't see me shelling out $30 for two songs. The covers looked identical other than than something extra in the Japanese characters besides Unleashed In The East on it.

THE definitive Judas Priest number.' Unleashed In The East'should have been a double live album but for reasons best known to SONY BMG was released as a heavily edited single album. This situation was partially rectified when at last Unleashed In The East was remastered and expanded featuring this killer track.

I've would like to extend my gratitude towards Judas Priest for being awesome musicians, and the best part of my formative years in guitar playing! Most of the guitar riffs and solos that I learned as a teen (I'm in my 50's, today) were from all of their albums! Incidentally, they were the first Heavy Metal concert that I had seen. It was on June 18, 1984 at Madison Square Garden. The one with all of the damage done to the Garden. Still one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Even though I no longer play on a regular basis, (looking back, I realized I that I needed to practice more often), I will always play "You've Got Another Thing Comin'," "Sinner," and "Starbreaker," whenever I have an axe in my hands. Thanks Rob, Glenn, K.K., Ian, and Dave (R.I.P.) for the being best part of 1984 and Long live the Priest!!!
