@Nonononopleaseno2 ай бұрын
Nah, they mock it because of the content. The song is about him pounding some dude in the pooper, like most of his songs were. "Wrapped in horsepower, driving into fury Changing gear, I pull you tighter to me" "We hold each other closer, as we shift to overdrive...Love machines in harmony, we hear the engines cry" "On and on we're charging to the place so many seek In perfect synchronicity of which so many speak We feel so close to heaven in this roaring heavy load And then in sheer abandonment, we shatter and explode" If that ain't about his sexual exploits then I don't know wtf he's talking about.

@freeshits, Yes. Heavy Metal bands sometimes create hard rock songs (as in here, Living After Midnight and Saxon did an AOR album with Destiny) and Hard Rock Bands sometimes create heavy metal songs (much like what Van Halen, Scorpions, Def Leppard have done). After the fast and mighty Defenders, I guess Priest lightened it up a bit and brought in glam metal and state of the art synths to create Turbo as part of their experimentation. They've never released the same album twice.

This song definitely holds a special place for me. My Dad had a VHS of a Judas Priest documentary which among other things happened to have almost all of Turbo Lover on it. I think I was around 9 or 10 at the time when I found it one day and the tape happened to be stopped right at the start of the song. I had trouble remembering names at the time so I'd always refer to it as the "skeleton song." My Dad saw that I really liked the song and turns out he had a lot of records of other rock bands. We ended up listening to those records for a couple hours a few times. Turbo Lover was basically my first introduction into metal/rock music. My Dad is still around and we still discuss music but those are certainly good memories to have over 23 years later.

One of my favorite songs by Judas Priest. "We hold each other closer as we shift to overdrive......everything goes rushing by with every nerve alive." I always wanted to put "Turbo Lover" on the rear spoiler or license plate of a bad ass car but sadly I never had a car worthy of it.

Depends how straight you are. Rob put a lot of gay love metaphors into his lyrics and this is one of them. Every nerve alive into overdrive, clearly its about making love, not about cars. Its not the car that need to be worthy, its the driver.

Absolutely one of the greatest Judas Priest classics, it's glorious. I always love this mix most too, I adore at 3:16 they just completely cut out that awful trippy bridge from the album version and keep the kick-ass pace with that awesome solo. 🤘
@jason867682 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I agree. The bridge ain't bad in my opinion, it kinda gives you that "calm before the storm", so-to-speak, before the solo turns it up to 11. It's like delayed satisfaction, just makes the climax of the song all that much better.
@paul-blovesmovies2 жыл бұрын
@@jason86768 I never liked it. Strange melody, very different sound from the rest of the song and super cheesy. The single edit is like Priest listened to the album version and decided that the bridge was an acceptable loss. It should be turbo by name, turbo by nature. My one criticism would be fading out the end quicker, I'd love a hybrid version where it's the whole album version with just that bridge chopped away. A spectacular song that doesn't need any goofiness slowing it down.

People always give Priest shit for this album, but ive seen them live 3 times and there's no other song that gets the crowd going like this song. not even close

That’s because “Turbo” is a godawful album, but “Turbo Lover” isn’t all that bad of a song. It’s definitely better played live, though.
