Such a pure and timeless track. Beautiful vocals and warm and homely acoustic guitar. Like other songs/ tunes/ tracks over the last 35 years: played on the radio; I would have genuinely thought that this was a completely new song. Mamma Cass must have been an excellent songwriter. She also died young: alas! I hope that they frequently get to meet up, up above. Judee Sill reminded me of poor Eva Cassidy who died young too, in the 1990's. Eva sang a beautiful version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow!" while playing an acoustic guitar! I remember seeing her on MTV, during 1995.1996. in a small intimate venue. The acoustic guitar and the female voice are a beautiful compliment to one another!

You're right and a shame there are less of them today. Janis Ian, Joan Armatrading and Joni Mitchell kept making wonderful tracks

Watch The Kiss recorded live by Judee Sill on The Old Grey Whistle Test. Wonderful and a song I often return to.

You haven't done The Kiss yet, I see! The live version from The Old Grey Whistle Test is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

Hey gpreactions, how are you? Interesting song/artist choice here. I first heard of Judee Sill when looking at artists who died early on. When you read about her life, you can see it was pretty grim and dramatic from start to end and had a tragic conclusion. I don't know what attracts me to a lot of doomed artists but, I found her, her story and her music utterly alluring. Though not the type of music I usually listen to, I have heard other songs from her and I think you might enjoy them too if you go down that rabbit hole. Judee Sill R.I.P...

I enjoyed her voice and I know she had another track called 'the kiss' I think. But yeah, I'll get back to her at some point x

She wrote this after she broke up with J.D. Souther who wrote many classic songs.Her life was awful and she never lost her fatal relationship with drugs. I watched the last tempation film which was truly awful and Judee seemed to have a mental battle with her faith. The Kiss is a beautiful record. Sad when you think of all the artists lost to addictions

what film are you talking about?
@letthemusicspeak70982 жыл бұрын
@@paulelroy6650 The last temptation of christ i think is its name. Truly terrible although a christian friend says it was funnier than The life of Brian... Totally disagreed😀
